Certainly would have been more interesting than what we got, and would have felt more like fluent progression.

I still find it ridiculous that in TFA that some characters treat 30 years as though it was hundreds of years ago and don't seem to know much about recent history.

Par for the course, really, when the people of the Original Trilogy act as though the Jedi died out centuries ago when it hadn't even been two full decades.

Indeed. Obi-Wan was supposed to be a very elderly man in the OT which why he’s referred to as “an old fossil”, but with the prequels retconning his age turns out he’s only on his 50s. Not a spring chicken, but far from the ancient man he was implied to be in the OT.

    Fair point.

Just watched The Mandalorian S2 Ep3 Chapter 11, that was pretty awesome, one of the best TV shows out there. Great to see two of the female guest stars both did great. Nods to Rebels and Clone wars.

Should BDH follow in her dad’s footsteps and direct a Star Wars movie? Hopefully better planned, lol. I would also like to see Jon Favreau direct a full Star Wars movie.

The shot where they take off and there’s the explosion I thought was great.

I haven’t watch Clone Wars or Rebels but I’m glad the Mandalorian is acknowledging those shows. Whilst we know it’s canon, there is a novelty to seeing it in Live action. I’ve enjoyed episodes 1 & 3 so far, but wish 3 was longer. I wasn’t a big fan of 2 as it felt inconsequential.

Yes I really like this series but episode two didn’t bring much to the table.

Interesting to see and find out about the empire/republic post Jedi though

Baby Yoda has triggered certain people with a thing he keeps doing in episode 2 of the second season. Then I just saw this a few minutes ago, made me chuckle.

Episode 2 I just like the action scenes especially the chase sequence, looked fantastic. Agree the plot was not pushed along a great deal.

Hey is that our man Yusef as the other mandalorian with Bo Katan?
Star Wars insta just posted a photo of them and he looks like a dead ringer.

Bond, Star Wars, and Marvel. Has any other actor touched all three enormous franchises?

EDIT: Mads Mikkelson: Casino Royale, Rogue One, Doctor Strange.

It's a good show but to link yoda to a bounty hunter is strange, don't you think ?

The Mandalorian coming into contact with the child happened in a pretty organic way, IMO. The child is linked to Yoda in species alone.

It can’t be Yoda, Yoda died before The Mandalorian began.

I’ve gotten so sick of Baby Yoda that I just want to see someone shoot it dead for good and move on.

    He was being too gentle.

Funnily, I forgot of this scene. I’m really only watching this show at this point because my roommate wants to watch the show together. I honestly can’t understand the appeal beyond this being a pretty okay show.

I think I just have to accept that the only Star Wars that actually matters are the episode films. No spin-offs. No TV. Nothing else. I tried to get into CLONE WARS but aside from being quite boring I also have a very difficult time investing in the actual war because it isn’t actually a war, it’s just a farce controlled by Palpatine. Doesn’t help that those fighting in the war are disposable clones and droids, not actual people willingly putting their lives on the line like in the OT. Makes it feel very bloodless (especially in ROTS where there doesn’t seem to be any ravages of war even when battle is right above Coruscant).

Interesting, as many Star Wars fans put the likes of Rogue One, Solo, and The Mandalorian above many of the episodic films. Never saw Clone Wars or Rebels.
IMO The Mandalorian is pretty great for a lot of the reasons the OT was great. It feels like it puts the fact they're in space in the background, and just focuses on the story (the main distinction between Star Wars and Star Trek IMO; Star Wars is not science fiction). Heavily inspired by spaghetti westerns in the same way Star Wars was heavily inspired by The Hidden Fortress. The smaller stakes really work in favour of The Mandalorian; all of these big things are going on around the story (the sometimes negative effects of the fall of the galactic empire), but you're able to focus down into a more intimate tale.
If you haven't seen Rogue One I'd recommend it, really settles you into the reality of the war from the perspective of rebels far less powerful than the Jedi.
I thought Solo was fun as hell and told a mature story, but it may not be for you.

The prequel trilogy feels mostly like political maneuvering in order to set up the rebel conflict in the original trilogy, and I can definitely see why the conflicts in those films aren't that appealing (droid separatists, the clone army, for the reasons you mentioned), but I liked watching how Palpatine pulled the strings and turned the clones into his militarized police force. I also really like the climax of ROTS and watching the transformation of Anakin into Vader (but I kind of go in for the cheesy stuff TBH).

I’ve seen ROGUE ONE, I thought it was dreadfully boring and didn’t bring anything new or interesting to the franchise, with some of the worst fan service. SOLO was okay, not as bad as people made it out to be (and the lead actor did a very adorable job as young Han), but it’s definitely not worth writing home about.

Damn. Well, at least you have the original trilogy.

To be fair I don't think I ever re-watched Rogue One. Solo I've seen a few times. And if I'm honest, I do like The Mandalorian, but the main thing keeping me with it is the Boba Fett content.

If I had to rank the films it’s probably like this:

    1. The Empire Strikes Back
    2. Star Wars (A New Hope)
    3. The Last Jedi
    4. The Force Awakens
    5. Return of the Jedi
    6. The Rise of Skywalker
    7. Revenge of the Sith
    8. The Phantom Menace
    9. Attack of the Clones

'The Child' aka Baby Yoda will either be a Clone or as mentioned just another of Yoda's Species. Yaddle another of Yoda's species was on the Jedi Council in TPM...

I think there is a good character dynamic between Mando and Baby Yoda, them both being orphans contributes a lot to Mando taking care of Baby Yoda I think.

    My current ranking...
    The Empire Strikes Back
    New Hope
    Return of the Jedi
    Revenge of the Sith
    Attack of the Clones
    The Phantom Menace
    The Rise of Skywalker
    The Force Awakens
    The Last Jedi

I think Solo is not very good so would be below the Saga films. Rogue One I love so would be placed after ROTS.

    My ranking is:
    Empire
    Hope
    Revenge of the Sith
    Return of the Jedi
    Phantom Menace
    Force Awakens
    Rise of Skywalker
    Last Jedi
    Attack of the Clones

Hastily put together and it’s been a while since I’ve watched anything in my lower ranking so it’s subject to change. Hopefully not too many people are triggered by a prequel film topping an OT film. ;)
