Your opinion on the gap in quality between TLD and LTK is consistent with my own!

I had a little time and was trying to put the Bond movies in an order. Certainly not an easy task.

    My Top 12:

The top 3: I can tell you that they probably will stay there. I am amazed at the quality of all three.

    On Her Majesty’s Secret Service
    Dr. No
    Casino Royale

    Goldfinger (Switzerland yay!)
    You Only Live Twice
    The Spy Who Loved Me
    Skyfall
    Diamonds Are Forever
(secretly this is my favorite Bond film he he...)
    GoldenEye
    For Your Eyes Only
    Thunderball
The Man With The Golden Gun
(my favorite villain in the series)

Ranking all of the films would be too early and get dubious results as I have seen the films once only, except for some of Moore's I have seen twice.

I can give you the film that comes dead last in my ranking and always will. An easy choice.
QoS, what a mess of a movie. A total disaster given the fact it follows one of the greats, Casino Royale. Even more astonishing is it for me that it follows CR directly and still the film couldn't drift away more in style and tone. If there hadn't been the Tosca sequence I may in fact have turned it off. Films like QoS are exactly the reason why I hate new content and will never get into it. When filmmakers seem to think we want shaky camera action and hyper fast cutting, then something has gone wrong.
I was SO relieved to see that the next film Skyfall was one brilliant classic Bond film again.

As the thread's title says "no details" I won't add anything further.

Ouch, you really don’t like QOS, out of interest how many times have you seen it?

I have QOS fairly low as well, though there is much that I love about it as I do all Bonds.

Craig is superb and looks great here, I love Olga, the running time reminds me of DN, I thought it had a few interesting set pieces as well, and a strong Arnold score.

However, it does seem far more influenced by contemporary content rather than Bond. I feel too many current films that attempt iconic characters tend to get it so WRONG.
QOS comes close to falling in that category as far as I'm concerned. Deliberately departing from so many traditions feels not like an attempt to try something new, but turning it's back on the past.
The camera work looks like something out of a current action drama for television. I almost feel once the title was settled upon, the writers went back and quickly scribbled the word "Quantum" in various sections of the script so that this organization could have a name, shoehorning in a Fleming title. Sloppy, IMO.

I have seen QoS once @JamesBondKenya

As I have clearly become a fan of the Bond universe I will watch it again of course. At least now I know what to expect.
You know, to see QoS after CR was just too much of a shock and disappointment not to say an imposition. I don't understand why EoN would produce such a film after CR, they should have kept the same production team and made it a proper sequel to CR not only in story but direction, style and class. At least there is the fantastic score!
And Camille really is beautiful and adorable!

Of course that is my opinion and please nobody should feel offended, I realize QoS may be high in people's Bond rankings lists.

Although I've always appreciated QoS primarily due to Craig's killer intense performance I can't disagree with anything you've said @Andi1996Ruegg, and can relate.

I don't know where the heck QoS will place in my next Bondathon. It's possible it could get higher or lower really. I said it could replace SP as my third favorite Craig film, but I'm still not certain. QoS and SP are uneven entries that can either be more enjoyable or less enjoyable on any given day for me. CR and SF are Craig's consistently great entries; hopefully his fifth and final follows those moreso. After watching OHMSS again today, I'm certain it will remain my second favorite; too much good about it.

I almost dropped FRWL a spot or two because OHMSS and CR are always so impressive. But I'm not ready to make that drastic a move. FRWL suffers by how familiar I am with it, so I try to imagine seeing it with fresh eyes; then it always wins out.

I have always had CR above it. Not sure about OHMSS. I don't deny FRWL is an extremely good Bond film, but to me CR and OHMSS are simply stronger. FRWL does have Connery, but the Bond girls, action scenes, and stories of CR and OHMSS are tops IMO. But all 3 are absolutely Top 10 entries at the least.

Monthly re ranking boosting up OHMSS to top 5, and switching a few others. Unfortunately the bottom 5 seem to consistently rotate between Craig and Pierce outings.

    3. ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE
    4. DR NO
    5. THE SPY WHO LOVED ME

I used to rank QOS above all the Pierce films, GE included. Been awhile since I watched it all the way through.

QOS sits happily at #4 in my list atm.

Can’t argue with your picks for the Top 8. You always have some of my favorite rankings on the site. I expect a few changes to happen my next Bondathon, but probably nothing drastic.

Goldeneye is still way too high.
  • Goldeneye is still way too high.

For a most unorthodox rating? Would you put it in the 22-24 range then? And if so, in place of which of the other 3: Goldfinger, Casino Royale, or From Russia With Love?
The middle ones are pretty hard to do for the unorthodox ranking. I felt pretty good about the top and bottom few, but the ones in between were tough. OHMSS being at 16 I think makes sense since it's love it (usually the case) or hate it film almost always. 10-15 could pretty much be changed up in any way.

No, I am just using the opportunity to stamp on it.

My hardest area would be about 10 to 18. Those middle ones are always subject to shift around a bit.

Awesome to see strong love for SF amidst vocal detractors! The only huge differences we have are GE and DAF. Otherwise fairly similar.

Thanks, SP is actually starting to move up my list with each viewing, although it still has a long way to go. I think Craig's films will probably only go up further for me once he leaves the role, I'm gonna miss him as Bond.

Me too. I'm hopeful his last will get to be one of his best. CR and SF should always stick around in my Top 10, and though QOS and SP are more middle Bond films for me, that's still a good thing; a bad Bond film is better than the average bad movie by far!

I love this thread; everyone has a different ranking, and they are all never set in stone. Also I usually enjoy coming here more than reading posted rankings elsewhere.
