Hahaha I know,i am an oddball Bond fan ;)
Basically GF I find over-rated and it frustrates me when I watch it,apart from the golf scene which is brilliant.
DN can go up or down depending on my mood.
I just don't like the fight scene at the end.You get all the build up and anticipation for the fight between Dr No and Bond and its very anti-climatic.
LALD suffers the same way.

So that doesn’t hold much hope for me and B25, however on an equal note, my ranking also shows that after a really bad bond film is usually a good or perfect one.
Hard to say. Depends if they get their act together and plan this properly, and whether the director respects the past films while looking to the future…not easy!
Oh, they are very well aware that they have to deliver (why wouldn't they be, lol. Kind of an odd statement since they are in the business of delivering product).
I'll go a step further though and say that they are also very well aware of the stakes that come along with this film (such as an ongoing relationship with Universal).
And I will even put my neck on the line and say, more often than not, EoN always comes back stronger when the stakes are high, especially after a misfire. This will be a very strong effort (whether people on this site like it or not will be personal, but on the international stage, and within the nature of this business, I am guessing that this will do very well, with many repeat customers ($750 million and up).
I would never doubt what EoN does and doesn't know. They've been doing it long enough-- and they're not "played out" quite yet (or even close, if I was to make another guess).
Odd statement? Well if you say so. I stand by it because I don't know what they will deliver yet.
Box office is quite different from critical appraisal and I'm sure you know that.
$750M and up? That's nothing. I think it will do quite a bit better than that.
Regarding whether people on this site like it or not, that's actually what this thread is about.
And bj, box office IS the business-- I'm not talking critical appraisal (I could give a toss about that!)... And I like to be conservative when I bet-- I'll stick with $750 million plus, lol.
And re: personal opinions on the next film, that's what I was saying: it will be personal to the members of this site whether they like it or not...
Critical appraisal is what I was personally referring to, and not box office. Critical appraisal by members of this site who are knowledgeable about these films, and by members of the public and the critics. As I noted, this is what this thread is about. We're not ranking on box office here.

My point has been lost, it seems. All I was saying was EoN, of course, know they have to "step up and deliver", as all business people do! That's all. That's why this was an odd statement to me since it's redundant (as in: that's obvious so why bother stating the obvious?).
I'm actually uncertain of what you're going on about in your second paragraph above, bj, so I'll just leave that alone, lol!

This was really hard. I had watched about 8 of them years ago but didn't have the chance to finish. Finally committed myself recently and watched all 24 practically in a row over a couple of months. Christmas/New Years got in the way, but otherwise I watched Bond films straight almost every night. I'll note that I intentionally watched them out of order to keep it exciting. I'd lose my mind if I watched 7 Moore films in a row. I did start with Dr. No and end with Spectre, though. This decision became very confusing when I watched You Only Live Twice after Diamonds are Forever. I thought Bloefeld had faked his death the entire movie.
I could see half of these movies sliding up or down 2 or 3 spots. A few of them *should* be my favorites but had too many flaws. On Her Majesty's Secret Service should be the best Bond movie. But the unfortunate decision to remain true to the book (if my understanding is correct) makes for an ill-advised and boring middle act, completely killing any momentum and ignoring the obvious focus on Bond's relationship with Tracy. Granted, the act does develop Savals' Bloefeld, who is brilliant, but it can't outweigh 30 minutes of aimless tedium.
Likewise, I was positive that Octopussy was going to be among my top 3, but the jungle escape and, in particular, train scene really hurt the movie. I wish it were more consistent across the film. Actually, that's my problem with half of the Bond films: pacing.

I'd also like to say that the difference in opinion between Bond viewers is fascinating. It's just interesting that people can love the Bond films but completely disagree on their favorites. I like it.
Oh, one more thing, which I believe most of you will agree with. When I read ranked lists, I always assume that the lower films are considered bad by the ranker. Having made one myself, I recognize that this is not the case at all. I really like the Brosnan films, for example, they just lack the quality or consistency of others. And even my least favorites have their qualities. A View to a Kill probably has one of the best endings with an awesome set-piece, Walken's murderous insanity, and the flooding. The Paris chase scene is odd and short, but really cool and well shot. Live and Let Die has a dope (thought overly long) boat chase. Diamonds are Forever has a great elevator fight, and there's a short shot when Bond walks onto the top of the outdoor elevator to go to Bloefeld's penthouse. It's one of my favorite shots in the franchise because it's the epitome of Bond's class.
Might as well talk about the Bonds too.
I read somewhere that Moore is a playboy who sometimes plays the role of spy, and Connery is a spy who sometimes plays the role of playboy. It's a concise and accurate distinction, and to that end, to the viewer's taste.
Connery is brilliant, honestly. Class when it's called for and coldness otherwise.
Lazenby is pure class. He's professional no matter the situation. He's smooth in a way that's respectful.
And he's the best fist fighter of them all. The opening to On Her Majesty's Secret Service might be the best fist fight in the entire series.
Dalton is cool. He's the Bond everyone wish they could be.
Brosnan is closest to Connery, I think, but with a sharper edge. He is serious about his responsibility, but enjoys the profession too. He also has the best one-liners in the series.
Craig is melancholy. Even during Casino Royale, he's already a tragic character. His life made him an assassin; he didn't choose or seek the role. His Bond is best when you can feel his sadness, no matter what he's doing. When Craig tries to play Bond differently, either lighter or darker, his performance falters.
So if I had to choose, I'd place Lazenby as my favorite and Craig as my least favorite. Craig simply lacks the consistency of the others. Every one of them is a great actor, but even Roger Moore, who's character can be exhausting, runs with his interpretation and never mis-steps.
