    "Objective" was the wrong word there. What I meant was, "on the surface." Just looking at the plot, the scenarios, the characters, the sfx, some of the acting...oh yes, it is soooo awful that it is a lot of fun.

    For me my top 6 are absolutely solid. After that it becomes very hard to sort.

    Thunderball is a brilliant Bond film and really close to Flemings novel. It has SC, some of the best girls of the series, a memorable villian, a great score, exotic locations and the best Director (Terance Young). 10/10.

    Some of them are separated by only the slimmest of margins. As a result, some fluctuation always occurs.

    Your asterisks for AVTAK are a few of the reasons I enjoy it so much. It's whacky but in a good way. Some Bond films, such as FYEO, can't make that tonal zaniness work (in my opinion) as well.

    AVTAK is far from the worst Bond, and has much to recommend it IMO. I've rated the Bonds many times, this time I was attempting simple classification.

    GE is definitely a "big" Bond movie in my book. GF is like "medium," hehe. And Moonraker I would file under "big" as well as "silly," if you're into doing multiple categories.

    In terms of scope Moonraker is up there.

    I would personally put MR in it's own category called 'hugest'

    I would also personally put DAD in its own category named 'silliest'

    I noticed, but I also realize that no matter how much I personally love TND it's not a stone cold classic like DN or FRWL. And @Birdleson, IMO Goldfinger is fine wherever one wants to place it because it really isn't very well directed, it was assembled nicely though!

    That is completely off base. Hamilton did a wonderful job directing GF. Great visual storytelling.
    If you're familiar with Hamilton's other work (which I assume you are) you might be able to surmise that he's not a director that makes the movies in his head first, he makes them as he goes, which works well for some movies and not so well for others. He's GREAT at directing set pieces and dialogue, but the producers and editors need to blend it all together and sometimes, as in the case of Goldfinger, it works out for the best. In the case of TMWTGG & Remo Williams (for non-Bond example) it gets a little messy.

    Personally I've always liked GF the most of all the Connery films. It fascinates me to see the consensus change on this site with Bond films, like QoS rising and GF dropping.

    Honestly Quantum of Solace and maybe even Moonraker are on the verge of topping Goldfinger for me, and I strongly dislike both of those films.

    MR is flat out awful, because unlike DAF, MR tries to be a serious film.
