And that wasn't even me, imagine that :))
It also shows nicely that all 6 actors have hit the jackpot at one point or the other.
Some of the comments from the members on there are quite predictable!
Quite a predictable list, although many casual Bond fans will place Goldfinger at number 1.
@Birdleson
Not as often as you think (on Bond forums)
Casino Royale, Goldeneye, OHMSS, FRWL have similar or high percentages of 1st places
The FRWL graph of MI6C is similar to the GF "Random website" plot
I think FRWL isn't as well regarded among the general audience because it doesn't have the Bond tropes as defined by Goldfinger.
But they are missing out on the great films of the series....OHMSS, the Daltons...
However they are getting some recognition these days, such as the digital spy ranking that Lazzers mentioned above
http://www.digitalspy.com.au/movies/feature/a671519/which-bond-movie-is-best-the-definitive-007-film-ranking-from-awful-to-awesome.html#~pqSQH3SGB2zmTw
Once enough time has passed and people can see past those glaring prejudices against DAD it will escape the last place in rankings.
That I will disagree with you on. A lot of DAD is enjoyable (and quite a lot of people on here like the first half). But other Bond films are more enjoyable.
The CGI and appalling one-liners is enough of an abomination to keep it low in rankings. As I've said, it's an insult to the 88 skydives done for the MR PTS, Rick Sylvester's parachute, the Aston roll, AMC barrel roll, Wayne Michael's bungee jump, Kananga's croc jump etc etc. If I want CGI I'll watch Marvel
However, I must be one of the only ones to like the invisible car
I believe DAD is Brosnan's MR.
It will have more fans respectively escape the bottom once enough time has passed. DAD is only 13 years old and there are only 3 movies after DAD, soon 4.
I could be wrong of course, we'll see in 10 years.
I experience a different reality "out there".
At my Birthday Party where I showed 9 Bond movies on 3 different screens, DAD and CR were the most popular by far. The oldest person of the approx. twenty people is 42 the youngest 35.
It's true, see the comments on digital spy, a lot of them were flabbergasted that DAD was bottom!
And interesting how polar opposite Bond films were the most popular (albeit a small sample size)...just depends on one's personality and what one expects from a Bond film. DAD type films alienate people who despise the cheesy one-liners (I don't think the general audience cares too much if Bond stunts are done for real (eg Komodo dragons), with a few record breaking exceptions). Serious Bond films will alienate those who like the fun Bond and know nothing of the source material.
His friendship group contains clowns and half-monk half-hitmen types
Not sure you asked me but my believe is that CR is objectively seen the best Bond movie since OHMSS.
Yes but why was both DAD AND CR popular? They are so different!
Maybe your
I still think many of those on DS who criticise 'OHMSS' have eithet not seen the film or only seen parts of it!
My only gripe is 'Thunderball' placed so low in the DS rankings!
Only because it doesn't conform to their own rankings.
It is quite a typical list.
Ha, ha! :))
Hope that is not meant as an insult
@BondJasonBond006
No, it's not :) Just genuinely curious why DAD and CR were both popular. They couldn't be more different.
I don't completely agree with the rankings they've done but it's not bad (I certainly agree with it far more than some 'fan's' rankings on here). Swap TB with GF and I'll be even happier.
Yes. It is. I asked because you said that "Serious Bond films will alienate those who like the fun Bond and know nothing of the source material". But the general public as a whole (who know nothing of Fleming and were used to Brosnan) loved it. I love it because I am a Fleming purist, but that doesn't accord with the general public.
Two of these probably don't count. I find the inclusion of...
To be a bit of a stunner.
EXPLANATIONS
Quantum of Solace- We all know the movie is a mess, but to me there's no denying that there is alot of creativity and style (insert pretentious font) packed in that bullet of a movie. I dug the brutality and how hard it hit. Really my only big gripe with it would be the whole boat chase in Haiti. It's unnecessary and boring. And GOD(!) I LOVE the Tosca sequence. It is honestly probably my favorite scene in a Bond film.
Diamonds Are Forever- Clearly I have a soft spot in my heart for this one. So I'll keep this brief.
-short pink tie
-prissy Blofeld
-Plenty O'Toole's......tits
-PITON TO THE FACE
-Connery seems to care again after his wooden performance in YOLT. ($$$$$$)
-"BAJA!?!?"
-Las Vegas in the 70's. I half expect to see Raoul Duke to be stumbling around in the backround on ether and LSD.
-Crazy sideburns
-Overall ridiculousness
-Idk man I really just like this movie
Goldfinger- Alright. Don't get me wrong. This movie is ICONIC and GREAT, and if I were to do a list but looking at it from a perspective of best FILM to worst FILM and not favorite to least favorite GF would be much higher. But man, I just would watch almost any of the other Bond films over it if I had to choose. And for me I'd take Dr.No and FRWL over Goldfinger any day of the week.
