MR has alot of upsides. Unfortunately, it's the one Bond film that, once I'm done watching it, I never want to watch it again. It takes a good 6 months to a year for me to even consider it. I can watch Octopussy any day of the week, I love DAF, but Moonraker breaks me every time I watched it.

A bit like my relationship with SF and SP then. Lots of upsides but as a whole very unrewatchable.

You have a new ranking? Appears your last ranking of Octopussy is 15th

Thanks for that. I'll post a new list once my thoughts are clear on certain entries. Suffice to say, OP has jumped up the list since then.

Least funny Bond film ever created- Skyfall

Comedy being subjective, an objective "least funny Bond film" would be a Bond film that never even attempts to be funny. Objectively speaking, the best example I can think of for this category is Quantum of Solace. Also, "underrated" and "overrated" are purely subjective terms. Nothing is objectively over or under rated. Objectively things are simply rated how they are and a person simply has their own opinion about them.

Quantum of Solace has some great subtle humour moments. Such as for instance in Talamone when Mathis says to the Italian girl not to give Bond any of that expensive wine and she replies he only buys cheap wine. Bond, understanding Italian obviously, chuckles.

I stand corrected. :) It has been awhile since I've seen QOS. Taking this into account I suppose there is not a Bond film that is not objectively humorous.

And of course theres the great line from Mathis, talking about Fields, "I think she has handcuffs!" Bonds throwaway reply...."I do hope so!"

I think you've both inspired me to give this one another watch.

Any film with Elvis as a henchman has plenty of comedic gold, IMO. :)

QoS has a few mild attempts at humour, and also some attempts at Moore-ish humour, such as when Bond chases Craig Mitchell and an old woman drops a crate of apples.
  • @Birdleson Unless I'm getting something wrong you must be a special kind of person if that scene got you cracking up.

I always regarded Elvis as Greene's PA, not his henchman. :)

It was probably Craig's nonchalant expression while stabbing Slate.

I'm on a Moore kick right now, so.....
My (so-called) Objective Ranking Of Moore's Movies:
#1 The Spy Who Loved Me
    #2 Octopussy
    #3 For Your Eyes Only
    #4 Live And Let Die
    #5 A View To A Kill
#6 The Man With The Golden Gun
    #7 Moonraker
Well, that's trying not to be 'me' but it's imperfect at best.

My Positively (of this I am sure) Subjective Ranking Of Moore's Movies:(with reasons)
#1 The Man With The Golden Gun- just a strange movie (I like that) with Moore in great shape & some of the best lines of his run. Christopher Lee and Brit's bikini cement it for me.
#2 Octopussy- despite a few questionable gags this is a solid espionage thriller with Moore at his thespianically finest. Adams & Jordan rocked the casbah!
#3 For Your Eyes Only- Seriously, I loved the PTS!
#4 Live And Let Die- This would be #2 for me if only the final showdown with Kananga was less Looney Tunes.
#5 The Spy Who Loved Me- Just a bit too silly in spots for my personal taste, still, grand entertainment!
#6 A View To A Kill- Way more watchable than some would lead you to believe. The age thing is noticeable, but not a deal-breaker.
#7 Moonraker- A nearly GREAT film marred irreparably (IMO) by cheesy slo-mo weightlessness, cartoon lasers & the Dolly-turning-Jaws-away-from-the-Dark-side nonsense.
