I think he is underrated in the sense that Oddjob & Jaws always get more mentions than him (generally speaking). Whereas Grant was by far the more cunning and dangerous henchman.
Not to mention the fight he has with Bond blows the other two out of the water.
The title track is also one of my favorites. I know Lazenby was only around for one film but I think it is in the top 10.
Yes, some funny stuff with the bar fight & the X-ray Polaroid laser, but mainly it's Bond at his badass best, throwing down and very nearly sacrificing his LIFE to avenge the maiming of his friend & the killing of his friend's Wife, (and in effect Tracy's death as well which he could never fully recover from). This was Bond off the hook & daring the end if it came.
Only QOS comes close for me,
I'll agree with you re DN (which actually gets better and better as the years pass) and FRWL which is probably not underrated here but certainly is by the general population.
It's fashionable to slag off GF these days and whilst I have to say it has dropped off for me in recent years and I now find it quite dull that's just saying it doesn't have rewatchability. Go back to the first couple of times you saw it and it blew you away at the time.
TB I've never liked. Yes technically it's a tour de force but Fiona apart it's rather plodding. Given its the biggest Bond of all in terms of box office (or has SF surpassed it now?) it is curious it is largely forgotten by the public, which I think is testament to its tediousness.

If there is only one existing Top Bond theme list where AVTAK is not No 1 then it's highly underrated.
1 THE JAMES BOND THEME
2 ON HER MAJESTY S SECRET SERVICE
3 GOLDFINGER
4 LIVE AND LET DIE
5 NOBODY DOES IT BETTER
Die Another Day ended up last, just because Brosnan was the performer.
In the way that ive seen how often if a Bond movie is generslly hatted then so its the main theme song just like Die Another Day actually i was thinking of saying that one.
