Met stuntman Gary Powell (Casino Royal, SKYFALL) tonight.

Met Mr. Powell at a seminar at the Motion Picture Arts and Sciences stunt presentation tonight. Had a chance to chat about his work on SKYFALL, Casino Royal and that the competition from the upcoming "Man from U.N.C.L.E." feature will keep his guys on their toes.

    That's very cool you got to meet and chat with him a bit. Did he say anything in particular worth sharing about making Skyfall or Casino Royale?

    Nothing new really and it was much too early for him to have any info on 24. He mainly talked about how they did the shot of Bond getting shot by Eve. They filmed the initial shot of Craig falling with the train static and had him fall into cardboard boxes.Then the visual effects department put in the back ground to make the train look like it was moving. He also said there was no water below that bridge so they they had to go elsewhere to shoot Bond hitting the water.

    Interesting about no water there. There is magic in moviemaking, isn't there? I wish I had pursued work on film in any capacity: grip, camerawoman, anything; well, especially writing. Probably not stunt work, though!

    Well if you want magic movie-making - the tunnel that Bond and Patrice fight under atop the train doesn't exist. The shot where the train comes out of the tunnel? The tunnel is computer generated. The shots where Bond and Patrice scrap while inside the tunnel were actually shot in a car park in Adana, where the roof of the train was built on top of a trailer and projected against green screen.
