What was your issues with it?
I thought the acting and directing were good, and I liked the darkness of it, but I didn't like the story and I thought the film overall was boring.
Fincher made it more about Lisbeth and Mikael than the mystery unfortunately. And some big things were changed about it from the text. If you want the full story, read the book.
In The Netherlands (3th week of January 2012) the movie did much better then i expect for this Art House movie. 2,5 million that's a lot. It is more then X-first Class in 2011 and almoost double what Hugo deliever this year. I think one week earlier is the best thing to do. The movie deliever 726.000 in the first week, then it deliever 712.000), Then 500.000 after that one and after 4 weeks (24 days to be exact) it have 2 million. After that it go fast to 200.000 100.000 or less. This mean that after 5 weeks (1 month to be exact) the movie have his time. The movie be verywell promoted but because there delay the movie for a week it lost some money it can have delieverd between 12 January and 18 January.
Part 3 should be released in January 2016. At the same time there should do a pres conferance of Bond 25 for second week of December 2016 release.
Mabey there should ask David Cronenberg, Bennett Miller or Douglas McGrath. Douglas McGrath work earlier with Daniel Craig on Infamous.
I guess this might mean he's considering TGWPWF. Like I said before I loved TGWTDT so, although Fincher's way of working (i.e. the expensive way) has it's problems but I think he really understood the characters and that is priceless! This means I would be glad if he came back to direct at least one of the sequels but I would prefer that he would somewhat "contain" himself like not filming for almost one whole year, paint all the buildings in a swedish town, film, and then revert them to the original colours to film again, etc.
I though his TGWDT was the better film, Rapace was marginally a better performance as LS but Mara nailed the character in the book and Craig gave one of his strongest performances of his career.
Fincher elevated the pulpy source material to higher level, if he didn't follow the text to the letter then it is to the strength of the film. I've read all three books and I think he cut out all the right things and his condensing of characters and the ending made more sense.
The directing, the acting the cinematography, the script and the score are top notch and Bigelow & Boyle aren't masters of this kind of thing he is, seriously everyone's still playing catch up since Se7en when it comes to serial killer films, one of the reason that he stepped back from that element of TGWDT and concentrated on the relationship with Salander & Blomvist and to me that was far more compelling a prospect than the usual thriller ten plate.
What are you working on now?
Well, trying to figure out a sequel to Dragon Tattoo. We’ve got to be able to make it our own thing.

Brings me to a question - who of you finds Angeina Jolie still attractive? There are many women, I really find beautiful, but she has become so surreal...and dunno - not really nice to look at anymore. Almost unhuman.
Recently though I have thought Jolie quite beautiful. I don't know where or when my opinion changed.
Yes, this is my impression exactly. Just didn't find the right words. Unhuman sounds stupid and is probably not even a word.
I do hope the films are not released around Christmas. I know many people who didn't watch such a film in this season. The fact that some people kept saying it was a remake and not an adaptation of the book didn't help either. The film was one of the best (if not the best) I saw last year. I followed the whole production, with that amazing blog and the treasure hunt, and I'm looking forward to see the wheels turning again.
