There are plenty of scenes I am in thrall of, too many to list here, but in terms of repeat viewings I will regularly put in the Blu Ray and skip to this scene...

  • Heat has tons of fantastic scenes. There's the bank robbery scene which has already been mentioned, but I also love the bit where Pacino and De Niro's characters first meet each other properly, and the ending was really touching.

The opening of Pulp Fiction, where they decide to rob the restaurant, is one of my favourite openings to any film. Also love the bit afterwards where we're introduced to Jackson and Travolta.

The final chase in Mad Max 2 is probably my favourite car chase in any film. Fantastic stuff and all done for real, none of this CGI bollocks.

Love Rambo's speech at the end of First Blood (who are they to protest me?!, etc), and the "what I want" speech at the end of First Blood part 2.

I think the interrogation scene in The Living Daylights is one of the best moments of acting in the history of cinema. "You should've brought lilies."

Casino Royale's PTS is also master class cinema, from the fade in to the gunbarrel it is cinematic perfection. "Yes. Considerably."

The baptism scene in The Godfather, however, is probably my favourite scene in a movie ever. The murders of the rival bosses intercut with Michael standing as godfather to Connie's son is... well... it's beautiful despite how brutal a scene it is.

@thelivingroyale, you can actually reserve that table that De Niro and Pacino meet at in LA. They have the film recognized at the restaurant, and while I don't think they take reservations at all, they do on that particular table for the fans.

I agree, the ending is so touching, and it ends perfectly, but part of me wishes that:
De Niro makes it to his plane and Pacino catches him but lets him go. I know it kind of goes against their views throughout the film, but I want to see how that ending would've been. I don't think I would've exchanged that for what we're given in the final film, though. It ends on such a perfect note, just them coming to terms with the events and respecting one another as De Niro passes away.

1-From Downfall, Hitler's conference when he orders his military staff out of the room save Keitel, Jold, Goebbels and 2 others. Bruno Gantz's performance in that scene is the Greatest I ever saw.

2-James Bond's entrace into the embassy in pursuit of Mollaka in CR. I was blowned away by the action.

3-Charlie Chaplin's City Lights final scene when the "Blind Girl" realized her benefactor was a tramp.

4-Thaddeus Stevens's speech in Congress masterfully played by Tommy Lee Jones, supporting the 13th amendment from the "Lincoln" movie. Powerfulll stuff.

    5-Peter Jackson's version of King Kong's fight versus 3 T-Rex, AWESOME!

@JohnBarryFan, I'm guessing that 'Downfall' scene is the one from the popular YouTube parodies? I've never seen the film, but I would love to.

So many, one would be from the climax of Aliens when the Alien Queen is trying to catch Newt; The bay door opens; Ripley strides out in the power loader and shouts "Get away from her you B#tch!"

Yeap, that's the one. Even though the parodies are funny, I like the one about Ben Affleck being offered the role of Batman, Gantz's original performance still rules.

The parody with someone farting (childish, I know) was hilarious. Had me crying.

I've seen some interviews of Gantz, they're really interesting to watch and hear him speak on playing Hitler. I have to get around to watching it soon.

    Downfall is a masterpiece.
  • I think its dangerous to make light of Hitler/nazism in any way. It is truly a warning from history and many kids nowadays dont even know who he was they're so busy with their smartphones.

My favorite scene in ANY movie is From Russia With Love
"She has a very pretty mouth"

The meme is stupid, but believe me; that film does NOT in any way make light of Hitler.

    Good Will Hunting-
This film is perfect in every way, but my personal favorites that always get me are:

The speech Chuckie gives to Will near the end at the construction site.
The "It's Not Your Fault" scene
    And finally, when
Chuckie knocks, and Will is gone.

Truly one of the very best and most moving films I have ever had the pleasure to see.

    Casablanca-
This whole film is perfect, but again, my favorites are these:

    Of all the gin joints/flashbacks
Laszlo leads in the singing of La Marseillaise
    The ending sequence, obviously.

    The Nolan Batman Trilogy-

Again, flawless films, but my favorites are:

    Bruce's confrontation with Falcone (BB)
Bruce trains with the League (BB)
Batman tries to stop Ra's plot (the entire climax, basically; BB)
Fox says "Didn't you get the memo" (BB)
    The bank robbery (TDK)
    Anything Heath/Joker does (TDK)
Gordon fakes death and saves Batman (TDK)
    The two boats (TDK)
Batman takes on the goons and SWAT team in the Pruitt building (TDK)
Dent's final act where Rachel died (TDK)
The entire ending, especially Gordon's speech (TDK)
Selina fakes being scared in the bar (TDKR)
    Alfred says goodbye (TDKR)
    Batman gets broken (TDKR)
    Bruce escapes the pit (TDKR)
    Batman saves the day (TDKR)
The entire ending; absolutely masterful filmmaking (TDKR)

    Spider-Man 2:

I'll post more when I have the time.

I think Marv is my favorite character of 'Sin City.' He pretty much spends a night in Hell just to avenge this one woman who gave him a second of her time. He's a great character.

@DaltonCraig007, you have picked some excellent films. What about that ending to 'Oldboy'? Greatest twist I think I've ever seen in a film. As for 'Saving Private Ryan,' that's one that is really high up there. Still gives me chills with the realism.

I tried to stay at 1 scene per movie. but yes, definately, ending of 'Oldboy' is simple amazing! for 'Heat' I would add the downtown L.A. shooting.

It's not a scene, per se, but I love the soundtrack to 'Scarface,' as well. It's fantastic, takes me back to the younger days of playing 'GTA III' when the pop music from the soundtrack of the film was a station in that game.

Just watched The Untouchables the other day. Great final shoot-out on the steps of the station. The baby carriage descent is an homage to the scene in Battleship Potemkin. I love Brian de Palma's eye for staging shots.

That scene really is something special. I love it so much.

I'd like to add the scene from Charlie Chaplin's "The Great Dictator" when a Hinkel's speech over the radio empties the Ghetto's street. Absolutly incredible!
I once recorded that speech on a tape recorder in the 1980's and made my teammates (hockey players) listen to it in the car going to the arena and in the dressing room right before the game. Great motivation tool!

Good choices there. As good as the end Scarface scene is, I think my favorite is when Lopez and Burstein go bye-bye

    Lopez- "Please don't kill me!"
Montana- "I ain't gonna kill you. Manolo! Choot that piece of chit!"

And to Burstein- "So long Mel. Maybe you can get yourself one of those first class tickets to the resurrection".

I got the DVD anniversary collectors edition, 30 years later it's still awesome :)

Allow me to talk about something a little different:
Everything or Nothing: The Untold Story of 007: one of the best documentaries I've ever seen and which unfortunately I don't have in my collection. Two scenes were so emotionally stunning I include them, if you allow me, as some of my favorite cinematic moments:
    - When Terrence Young announces the death of Ian Fleming, having "Wine with Stacy" played on the background.
    - Cubby and Connery last conversation.

I had a Film Debate Thread that was quite unpopular, yet we touched on the ending of this a little bit. Gotta love how fans and ambiguity mix, it's always entertaining.

One of the things that made 'Inception' so fantastic for me was that I instantly wanted to watch it again after seeing it in theaters. So much you'll miss or not pick up on or just completely misunderstand until you go back into it, knowing what happens while picking up missing hints and clues along the way.

It's been tired out with memes, but the scene where 'Taken' goes from a lovely family story to an intense revenge thriller with that phone call? You know Neeson means business and has plans to kill every single person in his way until he gets his daughter back. Excellent scene. I also love when tensions are rising when he's at the table, trying to find out which man was the one he spoke to on the phone.

"You remember me? I told you I'd find you."

BOOM. Flips the table and slaughters everyone.
