123/150 - Quickly becoming one of my favorites.
1. Direction - 9. Glen really came into his own here.
2. Screenplay - 8. Minus marks for the safari sequence.
3. Script - 10. Whoever wrote this dialogue is a master.
4. Plot - 10. Brilliant, fresh plot that proves full of tension and thrills alike.
5. Action - 8. Minus marks for the tuk tuk chase and Moore's usual weaknesses.
6. Main Villain - 9. Severely underrated. Both are phenomenal though I will say I prefer Khan to Orlov.
7. Main Bond Girl - 7. I've really come around to Adams and Octopussy's backstory is one of the best uses of Fleming in all the films. However I do still think Adams is fairly wooden.
8. Bond - 8. Absolutely Moore's best performance. However, it's still Moore, and my complaints about his interpretation stand here.
9. Sets - 9. Octopussy's palace is outstanding.
10. Music - 7
11. Cinematography - 8
12. Fleming - 10. This should maybe be a 9 for the occasional campiness, but the complete use of two short stories (The Property of a Lady in the auction scene, Octopussy in the Smythe backstory) make for some excellent use of the literature. Fleming would be proud of the nuke disarmament scene too.
/5
13. Supporting Cast - 5. Everybody is memorable, everybody is likable. Especially Gobinda and Vijay. Q gets a beefier role than usual, which is always welcomed.
14. Main Titles - 2. Weak spot here. Binder's work had become somewhat mundane by this point.
15. Plausibility - 3. Again it's more a combination of little things that lower the score here.
16. Pace - 5.
17. Editing - 4. I wish we could've had at least a brief shot of Bond getting into the clown suit, and something that at least made it plausible for Bond to have gotten out of the gorilla suit.
18. Tilt - 5. I used to hate Octopussy. It used to be dead last on my list. Now I love the film and it could feasibly overtake Spy for being my favourite Moore film.

1. Direction - 7
2. Screenplay - 8
3. Script - 8
4. Plot - 9 (Well timed for the height of Cold War tension)
5. Action - 9 (Moments of silliness aside, excellent action)
6. Main Villain - 6 (Love Louis Jordan, but he was just stiff in this role)
7. Main Bond Girl - 8 (An older Andrea Anders did well here)
8. Bond - 9 (Moore's best Bond outing. OP was all Rog)
9. Sets - 8
10. Music - 6 (Weak part of OP)
11. Cinematography - 8
12. Fleming - 7 (OK, Ian wouldn't have written Bond dressing as a clown, but for the early-mid 80s, very Flemingesque)
13. Supporting Cast - 4 (Solid cast up and down)
14. Main Titles - 2 (Not great and ATH didn't help it any)
15. Plausibility - 3 (Cold War tension was definitely plausible, not so much the run through the jungle though)
16. Pace - 4 (Perfectly done when Bond was defusing the bomb at the circus)

A little too much silly comedy, but still a solid entry into the franchise.

Not Barry best (TLD) but good music. ''All Time High'' be atleast even as ''Nobody Does Better'' and ''You Only Live Twive'', but that can't be said from the maintitle. As said with AVTAK and TLD too, it be to dark. Together with TSWLM and FYEO realy should have atleast nominated for Oscar cinematopgrapy and procustion design.
Place in my top 23: 10/23. Sometimes i rank this movie, sometimes TMWTGG 10th or 11th place. 4-5th favorite Roger Moore Bond movie.

1. Direction - 0. I would've been nice enough to give a 1, but Tamahori's support of the codename theory drops this to a 0. Shame, as DAD needs all the 1's it can get.
2. Screenplay - 1. I... gah... well... I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT TO SAY ABOUT THIS SCREENPLAY.
3. Script - 1. Big "bang" theory? The "thrust" of it? "YO' MAMA?" SERIOUSLY, IS THIS EVEN A BOND FILM? One point for "Mr. Zao seems to have lost himself in Havana. If you should find him, say goodbye for us."
4. Plot - 2. Whoa, positively shocking! A 2!
5. Action - 3. I mean it looks very pretty and whatever but it's just more of the machine gun-toting, pew-pew explosions, Michael Bay bullshit that defined the Brosnan era. Oh and the windsurfing scene is here.
6. Main Villain - 1, only for the fact that he's not Charles Gray.
7. Main Bond Girl - 0. No. This does not require a justification.
8. Bond - 1. Worst performance in the series. Did Brosnan even care about this one?
9. Sets - 7. I'm amazed I'm giving ANYTHING this high a score, but I suppose the film got one thing right. As stupid as the ice palace is, it's beautifully made.
10. Music - 2. All the techno makes for Arnold's worst ever effort.
11. Cinematography - 1. I really don't like any of the blocking or mise en scene.
12. Fleming - 0. Sorry, shoehorning "Birds of the West Indies" in is hardly enough to constitute ANY points towards Fleming.
13. Supporting Cast - 0. I hate EVERY CHARACTER in this movie except for Raoul (and Chang gets the aforementioned "say goodbye for us" line), who isn't enough to justify a point IMO.
14. Main Titles - 1. I blame Tamahori much more than I blame Kleinman.
15. Plausibility - 0. Just... no. The tsunami scene... RoboCop Palpatine... no. No. No.
16. Pace - 4. It moves very fast which is good. The only good thing about it. It's done and over with.
17. Editing - 0. All the slow motion, sped up zoom-in garbage is just atrocious.
18. Tilt - 0. Worst film in the entire series, perhaps the worst film ever.

Die Another Day is not one of those films that does well in an elements sort of "test." I do like the movie overall. Nice energy (the only reason I gave Tamahori a 4. Other than that he's atrocious).
