TLD be upset of GE and follower of OHMSS, FYEO and example how CR and Skyfall can have handle things. Not realy fan of this Felix. TLD music have same power as Bill Conti FYEO. John Barry deliever a theme score with inspiration of the title song and songs of The Pretenders. David Arnold later also use title songs as inspiration. TLD is one of those more dificult movies, you must learn to like.

I'd hate to piss on anyone's parade, but I don't see how you can give the screenplay a perfect score, and the the villain a less than perfect score. If the villain is the victim of flawed writing, the screenplay is flawed.

    1. Direction - 8
    2. Screenplay - 7
    3. Script - 7 (virtually the same as a screenplay)
    4. Plot - 9
    5. Action - 8
    6. Main Villain - 6
    7. Main Bond Girl - 5
    8. Bond - 8
    9. Sets - 7 (average of Locations being a 9 and Set Pieces being a 5. Locations should have its own category.)
    10. Music - 10
    11. Cinematography - 9
    12. Fleming - 8 (No film should have a perfect score, no film has yet to properly adapt Fleming's creation 99.9%)

    13. Supporting Cast - 3
    14. Main Titles - 2 (1.5pts for the song alone)
    15. Plausibility - 3
    16. Pace - 3
    17. Editing - 3
    18. Tilt - 4

    110/150= 73%
With my changes in the ranking system...

    1. Direction - 8
    2. Screenplay - 7
    3. Locations - 9
    4. Plot - 9
    5. Action - 8
    6. Main Villain - 6
    7. Main Bond Girl - 5
    8. Bond - 8
    9. Set Pieces - 5
    10. Music - 10
    11. Cinematography - 9
    12. Fleming - 8
    13. Supporting Cast - 3
    14. Main Titles - 2 (1.5pts for the song alone)
    15. Plausibility - 3
    16. Pace - 3
    17. Editing - 3
    18. Tilt - 4

...its still 110/150, I just feel it's a more accurate display of the final score. It wouldn't be the same on every film. The mountains in the aircraft scene are jarring once you notice the inconsistency with the actual shots filmed mid-air. Most of this film was shot on a real location (if not THE real location) so out of the few set pieces, they weren't very good in contrast to the real places used.

I love Koskov. I think Whitaker is the victim of a terrible actor, not bad writing.

    Now then, shall we get going? Without further ado, here's our provisional rankings;

    GoldenEye - 78.94%
    Dr No- 78.7%
    Goldfinger - 77.23%
    Skyfall - 75.4%
    Moonraker - 67.4%
The Man With The Golden Gun - 61.33%

and so where does The Living Daylights fit into that? Well...

    The Living Daylights - 78.61%

TLD is provisionally third, not too bad. Although I fear it will drop over time. Ah well. ;-)

And now time for some actual discussion:

Is it higher/lower than your own ratings?

    Personal % - 86.66. Community % - 78.61. Hmm, lower. Still not everyone’s a Dalton fan.

What is your favourite category/element/thing in the film?

I feel that this is the most perfectly balanced film of the eighties; violence, sophistication, action, intrigue and, a fair bit of romance. However, my favourite aspect of this film is Mr Dalton - a superbly nuanced performance.

What surprised you the most, while reading other peoples ratings?

Again nothing. And everyone liked the Master's score for once!!!

Feel free to comment! Another Bond film coming soon...

    New week, new Bond;

    Diamonds Are Forever

    1. Direction - 6 (sloppy)
    2. Screenplay - 6
    3. Script - 9
    4. Plot - 5
    5. Action - 4
    6. Main Villain - 6 (great turn by Grey, but this is not the way Blofeld is meant to be played)
    7. Main Bond Girl - 6 (St John is great, but Case is an underwhelming heroine)
    8. Bond - 8 (Connery adds a lot of presence to his role)
    9. Sets - 7
    10. Music - 9 (at least Barry is up to his usual high standards)
    11. Cinematography - 6
    12. Fleming - 6 (true it has a lot of the Begin Bizarre, but it's diluted by the overt humour)

    13. Supporting Cast - 2 (bonus points for Klaus)
    14. Main Titles - 4
    15. Plausibility - 2
    16. Pace - 2
    17. Editing - 3
    18. Tilt - 3

Let's get this over with. DAF:

    1. Direction - 3. Not a Hamilton fan.
    2. Screenplay - 5.
    3. Script - 7.
    4. Plot - 2. The ignorance of OHMSS drags it to the depths.
    5. Action - 3. Did they run out of budget during the oil rig?
    6. Main Villain - 1. Worst in the series.
    7. Main Bond Girl - 4. Great actress, horrible character.
    8. Bond - 2. Pathetic performance.
    9. Sets - 6. Mixed feelings.
    10. Music - 9. By far the best thing about the film.
    11. Cinematography - 4. Very underwhelming.
    12. Fleming - 4.

    13. Supporting Cast - 2 only for Klaus. 1 otherwise.
    14. Main Titles - 2. Mediocre at best.
    15. Plausibility - 1. That fucking oil rig... the voice disguiser... the space laser... need I go on?
    16. Pace - 4.
    17. Editing - 1. Again. Budget.
    18. Tilt - 1. Hate watching this one.

61/150. Wow. Just wow. What a pathetic film. A whole 15 points under TMWTGG.

    2. Screenplay - 5
    3. Script - 6
    4. Plot - 4
    5. Action - 3 (fairly weak)
    6. Main Villain - 5 (Charles Grey was fun but, as others have said, he doesn't feel like Blofeld)
    7. Main Bond Girl - 4 (great in a couple of scenes but becomes annoying comic relief)
    8. Bond - 4 (had a few fun moments but overall I feel disappointed by Connery here. He doesn't FEEL like Bond).
    9. Sets - 5 (ok but not up to the previous standard)
    10. Music - 7
    11. Cinematography - 5
    12. Fleming - 6

    13. Supporting Cast - 2
    14. Main Titles - 4
    15. Plausibility - 2
    16. Pace - 1 (the only film I genuinely have trouble watching until the end).
    17. Editing - 2
    18. Tilt - 2

Undoubtedly one of my least favourite entries.

DAF i have love/hate with it. Connery's humor is top like as in Yolt or FRWL, but like Yolt i am not realy be big fan of the end lair. Iam not realy big fan of from 5 of Barry scores, but 2 of those are better and DAF is one of those 2. Not a big flaw as GF, TB or Moonraker, friendley 5. My third favorite Blofeld. From supporting Cast Q be on the run and also bring a part of the humor. Of course it have been fine if David Hedison already play the part of Felix but i like this one too. Not like every suporting cast member, but the other ones are good enough to give 4/10. Maintitle is not realy be one of my favorites. Speed/Pace of the movie realy get me out of the movie sometimes, lucky we have the humor and action. Moost fair be to give pace/speed of the movie/editing and Cinematography the same as with TMWTGG.

    Top 23: 12/23 (Sometimes 13!)
