I highly agree with you there. Octopussy's finale is a grand spectacle of pure 007!
At least Craig's Bond finally killed the main villain! It was about time, too.
I agree; the techno-suit was very lame and made the fight less about the tension between the two opponents and more about how Bond would find a clever way to use it to dispatch Graves.
Me too. "Do you wanna continue?"
After the villains plan succeeded, he wanted to kill M and did so. However the road travelled to this purpose was so bloody unlikely that it left me wanting for less Mendes in the next one.
For me the confrontation between father and son, and what for an abomination his son had become could have been worked out better and the killing of the father would have had more emotional impact. A villain killing his father even if both wanted the same but diagree the way to make it happen does have some interesting aspects, and now it was a bit throwaway with that daft suit.
And a 2nd swordfight as a continuation for the one lost before would have been welcome in which 007 could psychologicly needle his opponent for killing his father would have been more interesting. Thus leaving Halle Berry with the Raiders of the lost ark trick when Blondie would come at her with a sword, and she could be trying to manoevre the plane while 007 and Graves are at it.
The son seeking his fathers praise and failing while 007 gets M, the mother figure, praise because he does what she asked him to do. Could have been a bloody good theme to work out instead of the OTT finale with little of no emotional pay-off.
That suit was a wasted opportunity IMO. It could have had tentacles with claws pop out of it like Doc Ock, and jets in the feet like Iron Man. It was just too realistic. :))
except that 'Time to face gravity' line makes absolutely no sense... as it's not gravity that dispatches Graves - he just gets sucked into a turbine.
Technically, Bond didn't know that was going to happen, I think.
FRWL- gas & flare gun *meh*.
DAF- oil rig assault *meh*.
MR- space battle & exhaust port, er, satellite shooting *meh*.
AVTAK- bad bridge fight *meh*.
TWINE- sub fight *meh*.
CR- building sinking *meh*.
SF- Home Alone defence *meh*.
The rest I liked or loved, depending on the film.
b-(
The doll into the water shot almost worked too.
I'll grant you that; it definitely was lacking in terms of stunt action! There was, by my count, one truly great punch, and that was when Bond pulled a left hook on Zorin as Zorin was choking him with the fire axe. Other than that, it did basically consist of just watching them try not to lose their footing.
You've been here all this time and never posted in these threads.

If you post in those threads, perhaps you'd be kind enough to share some of the projects that you've worked on?
alright, so Graves misses the turbine - blows past the back of the plane, eventually his parachute opens up from falling - and he glides safely back to land........... boy, he sure faced gravity. lol...
I think Bond presumed that the chute would get Graves sucked into the turbine - why electrocute him and give him the slightest opportunity of surviving the encounter?
it's just a terrible line that doesn't make sense.
If there hadn't been the Franco-Prussian War, we wouldn't have had WWI.
And if we hadn't had WWI, we wouldn't have had the Treaty of Versailles.
And if we hadn't had the Treaty of Versailles, Hitler wouldn't have invaded stuff.
And if Hitler hadn't invaded stuff, we wouldn't have had WWII.
And if we hadn't had WWII, Ian Fleming wouln't have been in WWII.
And if Ian Fleming hadn't been in WWII, Ian Fleming would have made a series based off of Chitty Chittty Bang Bang instead.
And if Ian Fleming made a series based off of Chitty Chittty Bang Bang instead, we wouldn't have James Bond novels.
And if we didn't have James Bond novels, we wouldn't have James Bond films.
And if we didn't have James Bond films, we wouldn't have ridiculous James Bond films.
And if we didn't have ridiculous James Bond films, Die Another Day would be a good movie.
And if Die Another Day was a good movie, Casino Royale wouldn't have had as much put into its' production.
And if Casino Royale hadn't had as much put into its' production, we wouldn't have gotten the dramatic scenes of QoS.
And if we hadn't gotten the dramatic scenes of QoS, we wouldn't have @dramaticscenesofQOS.
150 years of history... and YOU'RE what we got for it? ;)
All in good fun, this is.
