I don't have a strong affection for Brosnan either,
And that's fine. However you don't go around on every thread talking about how bad he and his films are every single chance you can get like a broken record.

Who ARE you talking about then?!
  • Skyfall. Check the Thread title above. Got any opinions re: Daniel Craig?

Well, PB needed the exploding pen. DC didn't go in for that sort of thing, even though it wasn't exactly Christmas. ;)

And brought back ejector seats, last used (more inventively I might add) in that classic known as DAD.

SHHHHHHH! We're trying to get the conversation OFF of PB.......

How can one discuss Skyfall without laying into Brosnan...? I don't understand.
  • Consider it an exercise in flexibility. Try discussing ANY non-Brosnan Bond film without laying into Brosnan. You can do it!

The threads were flagging and needed some Brosnan to liven them up IMO.

Can never have too much Brosnan discussion!

You know Skyfall is the dullest of all movies when its fans have to resort to discussing Brosnan instead.

This must be what it's like to work in a preschool. You lot need to shape up and get those diapers off your heads.

If Craig and Brosnan were here now, they would both give you all one heck of a whack....

I enjoyed Skyfall and continue to think of it as one of the better movies. Daniel is in fine form and really shines through out. I enjoyed how they introduced the new M and Moneypenny and even Q.

Wish there was a little more romance in the movie but it would have been tough to put it in there with all the rest of what's going on.

Would have liked the gun barrel at the start and would have enjoyed a goodness to honest fight between Silva and Bond. However these are minor complaints.
  • Yes, there really wasn't much romance in SF was there. Not once Severine is dead. So much so that in SP they overcorrected and made Bond fall in love with the girl in a way that is not really convincing.

Further evidence of SF's brilliance. "Just point and click."

That's right,in both QOS and SF Bond is too busy for romance ,and it helps the 2 films along brilliantly.

CR had a convincing romance,SP, to say the least, did not.

I'd once again argue that Bond isn't head over heels with Madeleine in SP, he's just interested and that's enough for him to purse her if there's more there. Like in OHMSS Bond knows that he may not get his chance at moving on from MI6 if he passes on Tracy, and picks her partly because he feels it's time and probability says he won't be this lucky again.

Bond's care for Madeleine isn't Tracy or Vesper levels, I don't know why people think that or believe the film is showing us it is.

Definitely not....Tracy and Vesper were important to Bond in the novels as well as the films,i cant see Bond reaching those levels again.

It was a mistake to go down this path again (potentially leaving the force for a woman) with the same actor as Bond, having broached the subject so impactfully just two films earlier with CR/QoS (since they both dealt with this matter and its effects). It just drew inevitable comparisons, most of them unfavourable. It will be easier for me to accept it in his case if the film is his swansong.

Agree totally @bondjames ...as long as DC doesn't come back then its closure,if he does then basically Bond has been a bit of a lovestruck puppy, and if he could leave MI6 twice over a woman, then is he really reliable ?

In SF Bond had a job to do,to get the list of agents back etc ,he was as focused as his damaged body would let him,and women didn't get in his way, even Severine.

Not at all in SP - if they would want this story to be one of the cornerstones of B25 it will be this film they will have to show us that there is more and Bond's final ticket out of MI6 and being a assasin on the, maybe, right side of things.

I would like B25 to be like that and use it as a vehicle to bring uns into the story and the main plot being an modernized version of the novel MR. Gala Brand could become a very interesting character and especially a new movie incarnation of Sir Hugo Drax or some new bad guy modeled after the one from the novel.

Bond 25, if Craig returns, will assuredly have Blofeld as the villain.

The Blofeld from FRWL and TB I would always welcome back - the current Blofeld the way we have seen him so far not really. But there's plenty of room and good talent available to make it really, really good.

I think 2019 will be the year for B25 - if it's becoming 2020 or beyond, we'll see a new Bond, a new Blofeld but maybe the same M and Q.

If people see SF as a stand-alone 3rd film ala Connery with no association to SPECTRE ,personally i think it will be loved more...dont think about any tie-in...just enjoy an injured, unfit Bond coming back to save his country that he loves and that i love ...

That's how I first saw and loved it, and that's how I will always see it. Retcon be damned.

hear hear @bondjames ......it needed to be left alone...to tie it to another Craigbond film was an error...ignore it ,and it becomes a brilliant stand-alone ala GF..

For me personally tying it to SP made Skyfall better for me. It helped explain some of the problems I had with it, Like how did Silva have all these people helping him all of a sudden. It's easy to think that Silva could have been part of Spectre or his own rogue cell broken off from Spectre. Like Quantum so to speak.
