Yes I am a big Eric Serra fan. GE was the first Bond soundtrack I bought, I adore the music and, dare I say, I even love The Experience of Love.

Alright I can't quite follow you all the way into the hell hole (Experience of Love is like the torture scene in Colonel Sun for me) but I certainly love the Serra love. I am glad they switched the tank chase music, and I'm not big on the weird porn-ish sound of the car chase music at the beginning, but most of it I think really works. Super atmospheric and industria

    1) CR - The sensational opening riff after the GB is almost enough to justify it being top on its own but it also delivers consistently throughout (the brassy instrumental use of the title song in the parkour sequence and the Ford advert, Vesper's theme, little hints of the Bond theme) and coupled with the best title song for decades you really can't go wrong with this one.

    2) TND - Arnold came closest here to channeling Barry with the fantastic White Knight. Sheryl Crow's song is just reasonable but Surrender is the star of the show sadly wasted over the end credits. On the whole though very close to the best but CR nicks it largely by being attached to the better film.

    3) SF - God knows I've been one of Newman's strongest critics over his uninspired efforts on SP but SF is not half bad. Very solid PTS cues and he really shows he can deliver a Bondian sound when they are on the yacht. Tennyson us also a great track. A lot of good work here backed up by a great title song means I have little to complain about with Newman's work on SF.

    4) QOS - Quite a different effort this one. Dials down his inner Barry to quite good effect. Ok the title song is an abortion but the rest isn't bad and tracks like the opera and when they are in the desert stand out. Rather more subtle and less obtrusive than some of his other scores which is w plus for me.

    5) DAD - Hit and miss. When it's good it's good (the brassy moments when the Aston is driving to the ice palace and when the cars first head out onto the ice) but too much techno rubbish going on for me to really enjoy it. The OHMSS nod is nice though.

    6) TWINE - Some reasonable moments but overall just a bit meh.

    7) SP - A couple of excellent moments aside (when they go past the Vatican, approaching the crater) can't compensate for the awful laziness in copy and pasting half of SF's score and bringing nothing new to the table. Where his score for SF was decent this was indecent and he shouldn't be asked back (in his defence I will say was this all Newman or did Mendes tell him to repeat his previous score in some misguided attempt at continuity?). Sam Smith's reasonable Barry pastiche (well basically the strings) does enough to pop GE.

    8) GE - The atmospheric drum stuff in the Russia scenes aside (and perhaps the theme on the beach) there's very little here to tell you it's written by the same guy who did the score for Leon. Add a by the numbers GF rip off theme song and a war crime of an end credits song and you get a score that really needed to be so much better to herald Bond's return from a 6 year wilderness.

    5) SP/SF
    6) GE

I'm finding Newman's stuff rather hard to rank against each other. At the moment I'm leaning towards SP but I can't say 100%.

Not really much competition in this era
    1. TND - a lot of Bond theme but unlike those below it, it's not afraid to show it's a Bond film
    2. QOS - like most of the cues and changes in tone as we change locations
    3. CR
    4. TWINE
    5. DAD

    6. GE - Was the worst Bond score. At least it gives the film atmosphere

7/8. SF/SP - as generic as it gets.

    1. TND (Lots of Bond so that is good, and the score for the underwater kiss gives me chills despite being cheesy)
    2. GE (controversially, but it really fits the film with that metallic, breathy sound)
    3. SF (very good, but I can't put it higher because it doesn't resound as Bond most of the time)
    4. QOS (good all around, but edited badly in the actual film)
    5. SP (also good, but recycles from SF)
Then TWINE, DAD and CR in (currently) no particular order.

    1. Casino Royale.
    2. Tomorrow Never Dies - Class. It elevates a mediocre Bond film.
    3. Quantum of Solace
    4. Skyfall
    5. Spectre
    6. The World is Not Enough - ruined by all that drum and base crap! A 50 year old Bond running around to drum and base!! Ffs.
    7. Die Another Day - Same comment as TWINE but worse!
    8. Goldeneye - Bar the gunabarrel, pre-title sequence and tank chase (which are good), an appalling score, so Un-bondian....the worst of the series!

I cannot name the tracks, but I just feel that things worked even better in SP. For instance, at the conclusion of the Rome car chase, when Bond lands after ejecting himself, I get a Barry YOLT vibe from it all. I like the sound and atmosphere and how it compliments the imagery. Hard to explain.

    1. GoldenEye (big Serra fan here, not only GE but his entire repertoire, love his electronic and industrial sound, best non-Barry score in the world of 007 as well)

    2. Quantum of Solace
    3. Tomorrow Never Dies
    4. The World Is Not Enough
    5. Casino Royale
    6. Die Another Day
    7. Skyfall

    8. Spectre (worst score of the franchise, copy-paste from a score that wasn't all that great to begin with).

Tbh, idk how to rank them. I haven't really consciously paid attention to the scores of the film. I don't listen to them; I just feel it as I watch the films.
