  A lot of these studios keep trying to jump headfirst into a brand new universe, and it fails almost as soon as it begins. I don't care for Marvel's work anymore, but damn, if they didn't do it the way it should've been done: start out with some standalone installments, get people introduced to the characters and the world they live in, then start adding in a connection or two here and there, before finally the standalone movies are referencing one another and you finally lead in with the big ensemble film.
  
  They seemed to even do it right with their Netflix Original TV series, so people should take a page out of their book on how to properly kickstart a universe.

  Marvel's shared universe archetype model really mucked up the film industry. And with their constant successful entries, alongside Disney's SW franchise, the other film companies, productions and studios are starting to experience downfalls.

  Yes, even Bond has attempted a sort of internal shared universe with the MI6 "team" aspect and with desperately drawing connections across films.

  I wouldn't say they (Marvel) mucked it up; the problem is it wasn't the calling for other studios to do and what the ended up doing was copying Marvel and failing. Marvel Studios was built with the sole purpose of establishing a cinematic universe and sure, not everything is perfect but they're the biggest success in Hollywood history in under 10 years. $5Billion domestic alone and counting and 90 odd percent of being critically acclaimed.
  
  Other studios have simply seen what Marvel have done and tried to cash in on what they've done but without putting in the proper time, work and effort. Other studios need to approach this seriously and step their game up.

  The Chronicles of Narnia: The Silver Chair director Joe Johnston was in attendance at a comic convention in Paris last week. He was interviewed about his career in film and answered some questions about Narnia.
  
  In this interview, Johnston says that they are currently “rewriting the script” and will hopefully shoot in New Zealand next winter.
  
  Q: Could you tell me a little bit about Narnia: The Silver Chair?
  
  JJ: It’s the fourth film in the series. It’s a totally new, different studio. It’s Sony and Mark Gordon Company. We are planning to shoot it in New Zealand next winter, so we’d probably start prep maybe in July and then shoot in the South Island of New Zealand.
  
  It’s a little bit darker than the other Narnia films. I think The Silver Chair was the darkest of the books. It’s classic literature, really. I think the work of C.S. Lewis is amazing — even though they were written for children, it’s classic literature, and I just thought that this would be fun. I love New Zealand, too.
  
  Q: Is it going to be visually different because it’s a new studio or are you going to try to keep the look of the previous films?
  
  JJ: No, I don’t want it to look like the other films. I want an audience to look at The Silver Chair and think, “This is a whole new vision of The Chronicles of Narnia.” In fact, I don’t even want to reference the other films. It’s like it’s starting a whole new thing.

  I don’t like the decision. I’m not about to defend the things Kevin Spacey is said to have done, but this does nothing to help make things any better.

  Looks like it.
  Scott apparently asked the crew,production team and the cast (Mark Wahlberg etc) and they all wanted Spacey out,even if it ruins their chance of an Oscar.

  Figured it'd be another generic, underperforming comedy, but it actually looks very fun, indeed. I've been loving Bateman lately, particularly after Ozark.
