    What the... :-O

It's coming to the small screen did not know where to post this.
This could be the best thing since the 80s. Guns and violence and no stupid costumes and superpowers.

Trailer for the latest Paul Verhoven film:

I saw this trailer before 'Money Monster' tonight, it comes out next week in France. Looks quite interesting, and Isabelle Huppert is one of my favorite actresses (up there with Charlotte Rampling, I'm sure @MajorDSmythe will approve).

I misred your post, for a moment there, I thought Rampling was also in Elle. It's still on my wanted list though.

The latest Sean Penn directed film, 'The Last Face', featuring Charlize Theron and Javier Bardem, is being brutally murdered by critics at the Cannes festival. Some calling it 'the worst film in Selection this year'.

Yes, I was just reading reactions. A pity since I like both Theron and Bardem, and the movie is probably well-meaning and all.

Anyway, the critics have been been murdering quite a few of the Cannes movies already. Not sure how seriously one can take them, they apparently hate far more movies than they like.

    @bondjames @Creasy47

Refn's new film, 'The Neon Demon', was also screened today at Cannes. Apparently people walked out during the film while others shouted abuse at the screen. Now I'm really interested.

Not today, yesterday. Some "interesting" comments. So... completely vapid nonsense, godawful, necrophilia...? I think I'll pass. The clips looked bad, too.

They also hated 'Only God Forgives,' though I've yet to see that from Refn.

EDIT: Here's a first look at Charlize Theron's villain Cipher in 'Fast 8':

For crying out loud! If the fast movies can get Theron then surely EoN can too and a whole lot more. I never thought the fast movies could snag Theron before a Bond film. Jeeeeez.

    Looking gorgeous as ever.

Charlize is definitely a babe. She caught my eye first in 2 Days in The Valley. Stunning.

I was planning to boycott these FF movies after FF7 did so well (in protest) but I'm afraid I'll have to 'break' now.

Charlize was one of the three finalists for the role of Vesper. The other two being Angelina Jolie and Eva Green.

Loved Eva, but Charlize looks more like Fleming s Vesper.

Oh really? First time I hear about that. Rose Byrne and Sofia Vergara were mentioned next to Eva Green back then.

The only candidates for Vesper back then that I remember were Eva, Jolie and Thandie Newton.

Indeed. While Green could be imagined as Vesper when reading the book, her characterization was nothing like Fleming's creation. At all.

Maybe she is a petrolhead with first Mad Max and now the other big car franchise.

If that's the case, then surely she must have gotten some thrill out of the thought of playing chicken with a speeding Aston Martin. ;)

Definitely a petrolhead I'd say. Let's not forget The Italian Job remake where she handled that Mini pretty well.

Yes, though The Italian Job was an elegant film with class compared to the Fast and Furious and Mad Max franchises.

I'm not much of a fan of these reboot Star Trek films, but I must say this is a very good trailer. Intriguing and suspenseful.

Very much looking forward to the new Jim Jarmusch movie GIMME DANGER, a documentary about Iggy Pop and The Stooges.

I'd rather forget it, actually. (Well, I'm sure I will, very forgettable, but I only saw it recently...)

I'm really one of the few that actually prefers the remake over the original when it comes to The Italian Job.

The original is great. There's a fantastic drive in the beginning in a Lambo Muira played to Matt Monro's - On Days Like These. It's near orgasmic for a car man. I've done a similar drive through those viaducts & mountains. Amazing even though, sadly, I was in an Opel rental.
