That cover is perfect. I love the way you never see Bond's full face; Mr Big is so menacing and you can tell Solitaire's unwilling and afraid.

My heart sings. All the novels, all the short stories, all illustrated, all in hardback, in a single series. We will never see this again in our lifetimes.

This is great news indeed. Is this the first confirmation they will do the short story collections?

I really enjoy how they drip feed the books without announcing the release order. Adds some intrigue and allows me time to save up and savour the ones I do have.

Not sure... I know they’ve said they’d do the whole series, but I’ve never seen a confirmation about the short stories... just that is was assumed and hoped for. I was quite glad they responded with confirmation though. Looking forward to the artwork... I hope some get a few more pictures, like the hidebrand rarity and for your eyes only.

My next wish list item is that Folio gets some other fragment of Fleming’s writings from his estate to add to the Octopussy collection... murder on wheels, Russian roulette, etc...

Short of buying the original (and very expensive) 1st editions, I think this set is the best of the novel releases. Every other recent release has been incredibly boring

That's a great idea. I like the thought of one illustration of Bond in his F1 car.

I wouldn't mind if, after they are doing with Fleming they turn Dalton's considerable talents towards Colonel Sun. I'm finally up to that on my reread and my copy has seen better days!

Now that I would certainly second. I was though lucky enough to pick up the Colonel Sun Jonathan Cape first edition for £25 on eBay a few years ago, complete with its beautiful dust jacket.

LALD arrived... I had purposely not looked at the artwork beforehand. I was a little disappointed with TB’s artwork personally... the only one so far that I thought was just ok. Happy to find LALD’s artwork is great, love it.
  • Cover-wise, CR, DAF and LALD are the three that really stand out, and they're the three I've bought. The colours compliment each other. And if I'm honest, I'm holding off buying Moonraker (to complete the 'first four'), because the cover doesn't seem to fit in with the other three.

Im hoping next years couple will be OHMSS and YOLT, but then again I don't mind. I actually suggested Colonel Sun 9m a feedback email they asked me to complete.
  • The Pussy’s instruction to Folio for next year is FYEO & OHMSS
Dalton will have the time of her life creating those visuals !

I've been hankering to begin my Folio collection, @Red_Snow. If no one else has already claimed it, I would certainly make use of it. :)

    (Thank you in advance!)

I've finally given in and ordered myself a copy of Casino Royale. Seems that the Folio's edition of Live and Let Die is untarnished by the editors brush, so, money willing of course, I'll be collecting them.
  • That was my first Folio too. I've bought DAF and LALD since. The fist was a present, and the next two were bought with discount codes.
I'll get my next one if and when I get another £10 off offer. They're undoubtedly lovely, but they're priced a little too steep for me to commit to collect them all.

Quite. Perhaps what I may do is collect my fav from the series, namely, Casino Royale, From Russia With Love, On Her Majesty's Secret Service and You Only Live Twice.

Does anyone know if Folio will be offering any Black Friday discounts on their Bond books?

I received my edition of Casino Royale yesterday. What a treat. It looks all nice and purrty on me shelf. Read a few chapters too. I missed Mr. Fleming. He has such a fantastic prose and unique rhythm, that really ensnares you as a reader.

I had a look at their website, but nada. Hopefully on the day they might do something. Otherwise it's going to be expensive collecting them all.

Royale has been very pleased with his copy of Casino Royale, so far.

The Folio Society had said in the past, that they were planning on releasing the books in their print order. Now that Live and Let Die has been released, do you peeps think that they will skip For Your Eyes Only and The Spy Who Loved Me, and move on to On Her Majesty's Secret Service next, or just just proceed normally with For Your Eyes Only?

It would be disappointing if they cover Fleming's complete work, but I suppose that will depend on on sales.

I've got a letter from the Folio Society advertising their Christmas collection, with a discount on purchases. Nice little Xmas present for me then...

Well someone here said that the artist Fay Dalton had already committed to doing the artwork for all of the Fleming Bond novels and the two short story collections. So I don't think we need worry about that.

Just received an email offering free shipping until Monday, 2 December.

Not sure if it's only in the Australian store, or UK/US as well.

Yes, I saw that but I repiled assuming that you meant you hoped they were doing all of Fleming's works! :)
