I think by the end of this one he might actually surprass Dalton as my favourite Bond (right now he’s neck and neck with Pierce at no.2). Took me a while to warm to this era at first. The reboot was a big adjustment, and then I didn’t like QoS at all. But I think I’m going to be really sad when it ends.
I think he’s genuinely raised the bar for the series, and I don’t say that lightly. I love all the actors we’ve had so far, and most of the films. Some of my favourite Bonds are entirely formula driven (TSWLM, GE). But if they went back to the old formulaic way of doing it, then I think it’d feel like such a step down from what we’ve had with Craig. There have been some low points, but it’s also been a real journey. The most dynamic era in the history of the series.
I really hope they keep that experimentation and character work up with the next actor. I could do with less retreading of the same themes (I get that emphasising he’s a dinasour is the only way to make him work in the modern world, but at least find a new angle on that; focus on the snobbery rather than the sexism maybe), but I never want to go back to the days of Bond being a cartoon character again. No matter where we go from here, keep him feeling this real please.
To my eyes, it doesn't look like that shot has any CGI at all. I think what's throwing people off is Sandgren's slightly unusual (for a Bond film) lensing.
A number of shots are deliberately soft-focused and look like he's used an older model of anamorphic lens, which sometimes tend to to distort the edges of shots.
Plus it's a Bond film; the trailers always lean on the spectacle. I guess you could say this isn't a very jokey one or perhaps doesn't have much of the sophisticated, walking-into-Monte Carlo shots in it, but Bond trailers always have lots of stuff blowing up! :) I found it funny watching a bit of the YouTuber predicting it would lean on the spectacle and all I could think was that it's a fairly safe bet that a Bond trailer will have some big action in it!
Totally agree initially I did not want a continuation of the Madeline story when we found that out years ago lol though its where we are at so I will try to be open minded.
I just hope this obsession with tying all the DC films together is not as clunky as it was with SP.
This! There’s a deliberate dream-like quality to the lensing. A very interesting choice...
Two things come to mind-
1. Was this deliberate because they knew how much CGI would be required for the film and this was their way of “blending” it more seamlessly with the real action shots?
2. Cary famously mentioned that this whole story (along with the ending of Spectre) could in fact all be happening in James’ head after the brain drilling scene... is this movie literally a dream?
Regardless, beautiful heart-pumping trailer. I can’t imagine a better 2 minutes to get people extremely excited about Bond. Bring on November!! 😍
As I was saying a couple of days back, I suppose it's possible we'll get another one, two months until release or not, since this is their new round of marketing. If not and this is the last one, I'm sure we'll get countless TV spots as usual with lots of new footage.

Agreed, love that bit. Could we see him finally win a BAFTA? I think he could at least be in for another nomination. He got one for CR, so he easily could do again, and with COVID pushing films back, there’ll be less competition (maybe even an Oscar nom? Less competition and all the right names attached for that sort of attention).
Trailers are great value for money.

Haha, I’d have never expected it either. Told me that’d happen ten years ago and I’d have laughed at you. But the more I reflect on it, as we’re nearing the end, the more I’ve realised how much I’m gonna miss him.
Although we haven't interacted much throughout the years, I have read many of your posts and have always respected your input. I was hoping that my comment wouldn't offend but just relay my shock. I'm glad you have found a new appreciation for Craig but will always know you as a staunch Dalton supporter!
My first reaction to the trailer was please tell me the trailer music in the beginning was a selection from the musical score.
The villain's lair looks great. - Ken Adamsque. Anyway, I'll wait for the film. Trailers don't show much obviously. The Jamaica scenes are what I'm most looking forward to. This part seems more in line with the books. Would have liked to have seen Craig in some cool skiing scenes that are were in line with OHMSS (not TWINE).
In terms of the new poster - another bland disappointment. I like Craig's pose and his facial expression but the background once again, fails to please.
