Not only my favorite scene with Dalton, but one of my favorite moments in the entire franchise.

The part where he pops the "Smiert Spionam" balloon and has the most intense look of utter rage in his eyes made that scene.

Right out of the Fleming pages those scenes.

  • Curious thing I noticed on Wikipedia this afternoon, it notes that Dalton's birth name is Timothy Leonard Dalton Leggett and that Timothy Dalton is his stage name.....I've never heard this before. It's kinda shocking, because I always thought I was fairly well versed on the history of the franchise. I thought it was only Sean who went by a different name professionally. How curious.....

    Mr Leggitt......I don't see it

Someone hasn’t verified the information on wiki. Timothy Peter Dalton is his full / correct name.

I have read on IMDB that Dalton was asked to play Bond in For Your Eyes Only. It's very pity he didn't play FYEO and now we are stuck with an old Bond in the next 3 movies! Dalton played Bond very well, close to Fleming's Bond and it is a pity that he only played Bond twice!

FYEO would of suited him better than Sir Roger IMHO. He was also considered, along with Sean Connery and Liam Neeson, to voice Mufasa in the Lion King. Imagine how interesting that would of been!

Oh my, I've never thought about that: Dalton in FYEO. Now that would've been epic, as much as I adore Sir. Roger.

As for Connery, Neeson or Dalton for Mufasa, any one of them would have been perfectly suitable, IMO. Irons as Scar was just perfect as well.

True, but James Earl Jones had the perfect baritone voice for Mufasa. But it’s interesting to think what might have happened if Connery, Dalton or Neeson had been chosen.

Little clip from the Everything or Nothing documentary. Have to say, I agree with Dalton saying sometimes you have to go back to the beginning if you ever get stuck.

Love his enthusiasm for the role in that clip.

Can’t fault his passion in describing how he felt at the time. Shame he never did at least two more...

Looking at photos he could have easily played Bond into the early 2000’s

Wished he would have made his 3rd film. He still looked great in it.

More than any other, Dalton threw himself into the role. See pictures of him reading Fleming in between set ups for takes...

I've finally gotten around to Season 2 of THE DOOM PATROL, and man is Dalton great as the Chief. I'v been reading comic book since the '60s, so I have long been familiar with the character, but never would it have occurred to my to place Tim in that role.

I haven’t seen Doom Patrol season 2 yet, but I really loved season 1. It was so good that it might be one of my favorite adaptations of a comic book, much less a DC property. Dalton plays a large role in that reasoning. Niles is a great, morally conflicted character.

I love, love, LOVE Timothy Dalton! He was terrific as James Bond, and The Living Daylights is my third favorite movie of all time. The only problem I saw in his performance in LTD is that he seemed uncomfortable saying the one-liners in the screenplay. But that problem was taken care of in Licence To Kill. Ah, Licence To Kill! I loved the bar fight scene, was so happy that this was the Bond movie that Desmond Llewellyn got the most screen time as Q in the entire series, thought Carey Lowell was great, hated Talisa Soto (I really liked the red dress she wore in the casino scene, however), felt that Benicio del Torro and Robert Davi were good villians, and Wayne Newton was strange but funny.

As for Timothy Dalton' s non-Bond films, my favorites are The Rocketeer, Wuthering Hights, and Jane Eyre (I know that it's a BBC series and not a movie, but just roll with the punches, okay?).

I bought Jane Eyre a while ago and I've been saving it up. Maybe a Christmas treat.
