Nope I disagree GE re-invigorated the franchise and when Craig took over the franchise was in a healthy stage, it could have easily offered Brosnan a fifth movie.
But indeed both Campbell movies turned out to be the best one for both actors.
I am sorry DAD delivered a healthy BO and as with any over the top movie it was alwys followed by a smaller movie I would seriously not minded a Brosnan version of FYEO.
It is in the eyes of the Nay-sayers that the 007 with DAD was the franchise in very healthy shape.
I'm also not saying that Goldeneye didn't do more for the franchise than Casino Royale, just that they both benefited the franchise in a big way - in my opinion.
Brosnan simply wasn't lucky.

I would say DAD easily.
But then again I am biased. LTK is one of my top 5 Bond films, and DAD is literally the worst film of all time.

That’s a pretty honest assessment. In my eyes, Casino Royale did for Bond what Batman Begins did for the Batman movie series - ditched the excess and went back to basics.
Ditto. LTK is one of my top 10 Bond films, while DAD is flat bottom.
DAD is a film I never want to watch again (which will make my complete Bondathon rewatch in November rather difficult. Dont know if I'll skip it or not.).
Me too. He made Brosnan look like an actor from a bad episode of The A-Team. He inhabited the part with a depth not seen since Connery. Bond felt real and layered. Imagine Cavill or a TV actor like Aidan Turner trying to follow that. I hope EoN find someone worthy of succeeding Craig.

I love this deleted scene and would have loved if it made its way into the final film...Perhaps change the music cue which is way too dramatic coming out of the torture scene. There's something so humbling about seeing the 'Indestructible James Bond' on a hospital bed and looking like he's a goner. He's a very humanistic element and would have undeniably played into the more 'real' tone of the film. Some brilliant acting on display from Craig as well - really showing the younger Bond's more impulsive behaviour (which mirrors his actions in shooting Mollaka and trying to stab Le Chiffre).
God....Remember how well written a character Bond was in CR. I only hope NTTD goes back to these halcyon days.
I do understand why the scene was deleted - in fact, it was 100% the right decision. You already have the shorter scene in the hospital (which is more than enough) and the shot of DC's eyes waking up is more captivating. Plus, the scene that follows with Mathis is basically the EXACT same scene as the one that preceded it. It would have been way too repetitive.
But I just wish Campbell was indulgent enough to have included it nevertheless....
