@Resurrection - I think people who complain about Craig's suits are folk who grew up with Moore or even Brosnan. They like more traditional tailoring.
Daniel Craig always wore his suits like a second skin. They fit so effortlessly on him. Plus, a suit is a deeply impractical thing to wear in an action sequence. It can look stiff and awkward. Nevertheless, Craig makes the suit look terrific in action. You can see his bulging muscles underneath it and he just looks cool. He's like a caged beast in a Tom Ford suit.
I think the suit he has in SF is his best in terms of tailoring. I have a preference to the SF suit as he spends half the movie in it and I prefer the skinny tie.
DC makes a brief appearance at 1:11:38
I actually don't think it's changed all that much. But I agree: still looks good.
Thank the God's.
@Pierce2Daniel I grew up watching Craig's film's, also i am only 27 yet i still prefer suits which are neither too tight not too loose. While i agree with you that tight suits does helps when he is in action but there is no excuse for tight suits when bond is at mi6. Especially that Glen suit in SF which was way too overtight.
I think costume designer once said that Daniel is sort of mean bond, that's why they gave him a mean cut, simply put an overtight suit which reflect his bond's character.
Yeah I've always thought Brosnan looks incredibly tight and self-conscious in that shot; Craig is giving it the swagger of the character. Does he look like he gives a damn? He's just enjoying it. And Brosnan is the one who's supposed to be on holiday! :)
Speaking about the promotional pic, it looks like it was dyed black, when they knew they'll shoot his Bond scenes as a Blonde....I still don't know why EON did that though.
I think that's just the lighting that made his hair appear darker. Otherwise it would be odd to dye his hair for promo photos but then restore it to his original hair color for the press conference.
I believe they asked Daniel Craig to dye his hair, but he refused. Instead, it was agreed that he'd cut it short to give it a more 'brutal' look.
I think that was actually a very good idea. It makes sense that Bond would have a more 'brutal' look. He's supposed to be a former special forces guy. No nonsense and tough. When he wears more casual clothes, it actually looks terrific. He looks young and a bit of a bad boy. But it doesn't quite translate in the middle of the film when Craig is supposed to be more elegant. I just think the spiky quiff looks wrong - but only at times - his hair varies throughout the casino scenes. For instance here, it looks terrific:
They pretty much nailed his Bond look in Spectre...albeit, Craig isn't as svelte as he was in CR. Just a tad more jowly. But he is a decade older after all.
Back before he was cast as Bond, he was always a bit of a scruff. I think it must have been the style in the mid 2000's. He always had an unkempt quality about it. I suppose it fed into his rough, man's man persona. Though he actually seems quite flamboyant and chatty in interviews.
I suppose Craig was trying to channel a nonchalant Steve McQueen essence of 'cool.' Minimal fuss.
One of my all time favourite looks for Craig was actually at this year's GG. He just looks good with age. There's something of an old mountain lion about his. Perhaps it's the eyes. He just looks mean yet refined. Something kinda rugged and intimidating. It's those eyes I think...I actually think he's channeling this look during the Cuba scenes of NTTD (though this is just a hunch, as I've obviously not seen that movie yet!!!)
But my favourite look of Craig's was actually at the Golden Compass premiere....I think it's because he's a little thinner. But there does seem to be a phase in 2007 before filming QOS where DC was using mascara. I think we can't deny that something is up here.
It has. In many cases, he has kept the clothes provided by the wardrobe department. I guess he's allowed to do so. Perfect example: here he is in the Bruno Cucinelli linen blazer from SP:
I think Roger had the record for pilfering his own costumes: I love looking at the set photos on Thunderballs and seeing him wearing his costumes all the time when he wasn't filming!
I think it actually may be moreso the other way around, that Craig's personal style has influenced Bond's look on screen. I know a lot of what he has worn as Bond, particularly when it comes to casual wear has been based on his recommendations/designers from his personal wardrobe.
I get a strong sense that No Time To Die is going to be another hit from a fashion perspective from what we've seen to date. The scoop suit from Massimo Alba is a personal favourite of mine and it's great to see them bringing back tab collars and the Tom Ford O'Connor suit for a third outing. I wear a tab collar every day for work and it's only due to Bond wearing them in Skyfall that I do.
Craig's influence in Bond's fashion choices is obvious. Craig is an avid fan of Henleys and now we seen Bond wearing a Rag & Bone Standard Issue Long Sleeve Henley as one of the main outfits in No Time To Die. Craig is often seen wearing Rag & Bone denim too, which appeared in Skyfall (or perhaps that was Acne denim, which he has also been seen wearing). These are only a couple of examples, but I agree that Craig's own personal style has been largely influenced by Bond, because prior to being appointed in the role, his fashion choices were questionable.
I feel that his hair is the best in Skyfall and that the short, almost military cut, suits his no-nonsense Bond. However, I am liking the look of it in No Time To Die.
But there's something about Daniel Craig's Vanity Fair photoshoot with Annie Leibovitz that I seriously like. He just has such swagger and there's something really tough and intimidating there. I think the hair helps. It just shows that this isn't your 'Daddy's Bond'....He's a diamond in the rough, but with still has that innate suavity.
When you watch him in motion in the below video, you can see how damn good he looks! So bloody charismatic and mean....

I don't understand this opinion. The suits in SF fit fantastically. If I could pull of that look, I'd wear it every day. Those Tom Ford suits are gorgeous. I get that they are very fitted. But isn't it the point that these are film costumes? The costume is supposed to make Bond look cool, edgy and bad-ass? If that's the point it succeeds.
Tom Ford has excelled himself with his work with Craig. If anything the suits in NTTD are his worst.
This suit from SF was iconic...
The other key is using blues to accentuate blue eyes. It really does work and it's a reason he looks great / pulls off blue exceptionally well. On the white suit it helps that Craig has a tan but I still think this may go some way to why it doesn't quite look right on him. Personally I think it looks dreadful and it was a terrible idea as were most of SP's clothes.
SF, however, strikes a better balance. The suits are fitted a bit better. I like the SF suits. My favourite tux is the midnight blue of SF. Stick Craig in any blue and he's gonna look amazing.
A tailor once gave me (a blonde) a similar suggestion – to avoid white/lighter colours and to opt for suits in various blue tones to get the right contrast. I really like the colours of the SF suits, but the fit is a bit tight, IMO.

Ha ha tremendous.
