Cool it's weird that WB claims they are done with the snyderverse yet they really aren't

I think they're trying to steer Aquaman and other popular properties away from the darker tone of the Snyderverse without dismissing them entirely.

I mean Aquaman was always gonna stick around. His first film made a billion dollars, and the first DC film to do so since The Dark Knight Rises.

Honestly, I'd prefer Snyder move on to new things. I really enjoyed Army of the Dead, and I've personally never warmed to his version of the DC universe, despite them not being awful movies.

The Batman and what Matt Reeves is doing is more my taste, so I'd rather DC move forward while allowing these popular aspects that started in Snyder's universe to continue in other projects without Snyder.

I think now that it's clear that DC aren't wed to Snyder's version being the only version of their properties out there it wouldn't be so bad. For a while there we just had MoS and BvS and it felt like the whole thing was just this dark mess, whereas since we've had Aquaman and Shazam and all that, Snyder's just becomes one of a series of different approaches; which is less hard to swallow.

I haven't tried Army of the Dead- it's watchable then? I've heard only bad things about it really.

Actually funny you mention BvS cause it's so strange to see where the fandom is now with #_______TheSnyderCut and it's amazing what was accomplished through that persistence, despite the unfortunate chaos and toxicity that also grew out of it, but it is interesting to consider how popular it was to hate on Zack Snyder back when Batman V Superman was released.

Then once JL came out with Joss Whedon, and all the controversy surrounding that happened, it seemed to shift people's perspectives hugely. I think it also kinda proves just the randomness of this industry, and how sometimes audiences just don't know what they're gonna like or want, even if they try and pre-empt it.

And yeah I don't know what you'd think @mtm, but it's personally the most enjoyable zombie film I've seen in a long time.

to each his or her own the more I hear about Affleck's Batman Film the more I realize we missed out on likely the best batman film ever ( and I love the nolan films and still Affleck's script blows them out of the water)

Of course... I just hope your excitement for a movie that could have been won't taint the movie we're getting :) And you also have to keep in mind what Snyder and Affleck want. For example, Affleck chose not to The Batman, he wasn't fired, and maybe he wants to move on after appearing in The Flash, if he does indeed do so.

As much as these people love that we enjoy when they're involved in these properties, they're still gonna want to do what they want to do with their careers.

I will be seeing The batman and it does look good and of course the fact Keaton and Affleck are back in the Flash is just insane

They never said they were done with the “Snyderverse”, they were just done with Snyder himself, and have allowed other directors like James Wann, Patty Jenkins, James Gunn, etc to make films suited to their own vision regardless of what Snyder intended.

That’s why the hashtag #RestoreTheSnyderVerse is kind of misleading, because that universe is still going. However it’s clear most who post that hashtag are really just asking for Snyder himself to be brought back as the director and creative leader of the DCEU.

I had so much confidence that Martin Campbell would work the same magic for GREEN LANTERN the way he did on CASINO ROYALE.

    Nope.

It is a perfectly enjoyable film as soon as you can look past its bigger flaws. I guess I'm just willing to cut RR a lot of slack because I like the guy.

I agree. It's really entertaining, despite its flaws. And James Newton Howard's score is also good.

Agreed. I thought Mark Strong made a good Sinestro too. But whatever they were doing with this version of Amanda Waller is a mystery to me. And Peter Sarsgaard is icky. Blake and Ryan, on the other hand, make a good team and Oa looks really awesome.

Exactly. The cast is stellar. And I agree about the Amanda Weller thing. Bassett's a great actress, but the role just suits Davis better.

I'm really looking forward to The Batman. I really enjoyed Matt Reeves 'Planet of the Apes' trilogy. I recently read the Batman: Earth One series, which is said to heavily influence The Batman. It's 3 graphic novels, the first of which is terrific. The second and third are good/ok, but I have a feeling that first graphic novel will be the most influential on The Batman, in particular to Alfred, Bats, Cobblepot and The Riddler.

I like RR, I just thought GL was incredibly boring rather than how it’s usually hyped up as “one of the worst”. It ain’t close to the worst, you have to look for something like JONAH HEX and STEEL to find the truly worst of DC films.

Plus Catwoman, Superman IV, and Batman and Robin. Those three are the worst the genre has to offer.
