I see it as a cop out and trend follower.
Funnily enough, I haven't heard the score on its own yet -- only through watching the film. But I'm aware people seemed to love that track.
All I'll say is, there's a reason it is what it is. It couldn't be anything else.
EDIT: Oh, and --
RE: funeral, I won't speak to anything along these lines.
But.
There is this one thing near the end. It's a very simple thing. It's just...words.
But I recognized those words the second they appeared. And that was actually the moment that reduced me to near-tears. It was too, too, too, too perfect. It was in fact such a deep cut reference into the lore of Bond -- more specifically, the lore of his creator -- that I'm fairly certain it will go over most peoples' heads. Even many fans won't recognize them.
But for something so small, it felt like the biggest, most satisfying emotional hammer down and it essentially sums up the film's entire theme/message while also being...somehow...the perfect and only sentiments to convey with the "finale" of James Bond.
I was moved by a lot of the film. But that moment wrecked me.
Too perfect. And clearly, purely, for the real fans.
I was a blubbering mess coming out of the film, but I felt this in a big way.
Everything I saw felt earned, felt right, felt Daniel Craig.
A friend asked me to describe it to them in non-spoiler terms. All I could come up with was:
No Time to Die feels like it finishes Craig's tenure as strongly and appropriately as Casino Royale started it.
If you’re predetermined to dislike it, I hope you find any kind of enjoyment.
Don't worry, I won't. I haven't found any enjoyment in Craig's era for a long time. :)
So why bother seeing a film you know you’ll dislike? Confirmation bias?
Like I said, I want to see just how bad of a trainwreck it's going to be.

But I'm afraid that the doom and gloom trend will continue since it seems to be very befitting of our culture right now.
I’ve loved these films, but I agree. I would love to see what a director like Taika Waititi could do with a Bond film. Something glamorous, stylish, fresh, and fun.
I’m with you. Absolutely deflated, almost gutted, with the direction they’ve decided to go, if indeed the spoilers and rumors are true (which sounds to me that they are). Horrible.
I know Craig’s movies are their own thing, but come on. I knew them going that route was a possibility, but still. Ugh.
I’m not ready for this one. Not at all.
I’m glad that many fans enjoyed it last night, and those who have yet to see it but got spoiled are still excited. But I just can’t get excited now that I know where it ends. I would just be sitting at the theater in a sour mood leading up to the ending. And I don’t want to watch a Bond film feeling like that.
Or maybe I’m just a sucker that is too easy to please. I dunno. It’s disheartening because I wanna see fellow fans get enjoyment even out of what they least expect.
Yeah but how about the emotional punch if the sacrifice feels really earned?
I knew Bond would’ve died the moment I heard Final Ascent and I had real goosebumps just listening the music.
That about sums it up, yup. I've had enough death in my life this year. A coworker, a pet, my father taken by cancer. I was looking forward to an escapist Bond film to bring me out of my hole, not sink me further into it watching my favorite fictional hero get offed.
A film can be fun and still pack an emotional punch at the end. I got that with SKYFALL. I got that with STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN (though they’d later undo Spock’s death anyway). Maybe I’m not so down on the idea of a character dying because I’m so used to that at this point, with the most recent example being Tony Stark in the Marvel films. People were still able to have a fun time at the movie AND get an emotionally satisfying heroic death at the end. They’re not mutually exclusive concepts.
Honest question, does knowing Tracy is killed immediately after their wedding dampen your enjoyment of the fun in OHMSS? Bond fails to protect the woman he loves, and Blofeld gets the last laugh on him. It ends on a somber note of defeat :)
I hope you all give the film a chance. It sounds like 90% of a classic Bond romp, and you can enjoy that and hate the ending. I’m that way with a lot of the films. I Really like FYEO, but HATE its PTS that makes a giant cheesy joke out of Bond’s greatest nemesis. So I usually grab snacks from the fridge during that scene.
