    I'd definitely consider those "the big 3" of popularity around here overall. All some of the best-adapted Fleming material and endlessly rewatchable IMO.

    I wish it would have been six, so we could choose one from each actor. But making it five really puts the pressure on, you have to leave one out. I'm afraid Craig had to take the bullet in my list.
    Not that he'd mind.

    I wouldn’t take my word for anything because I change my mind on this literally all the time, the Dalton films being top is the only real constant, but off the top of my head

    1) Licence To Kill
    2) The Living Daylights
    3) No Time to Die
    4) Goldeneye
    5) OHMSS

    But just picking five was really hard and rules are made to be broken, so I have to give honourable mentions to Spectre, The Spy Who Loved Me, Goldfinger, Skyfall, Octopussy, From Russia With Love and The World Is Not Enough.

    Anyone else find ranking the films harder and harder as they get older? I used to try it when I first joined here, but I gave up when I realised how often my list was dramatically changing, because I was constantly finding stuff to enjoy in almost every one I rewatched. Maybe I’m just an easily pleased fanboy.

    If I'd have chosen a Craig film, it would have been Spectre. And I can see it's not his best, but the rewatchable element kicks in with this one. It zips along nicely and ticks a lot of boxes in what I like about a Bond film.

    Yeah I’ve always liked that one too. The foster brother stuff was stupid, but I’ve never really understood why it was labelled bland and boring, while similarly formulaic films (TB, GE, TND, TSWLM, etc) are labelled fun. I put it in the same camp as the best of those personally. It may not have reinvented the wheel, but it does what it set out to do with such conviction and style that I don’t think that matters. It was the film where they finally realised that Bond being a layered human character didn’t have to be mutually exclusive to all the fun classic Bond stuff, which made me very happy.

    I do think they still did some interesting things with that one too, it didn’t follow the formula to the letter. There was still plenty of subversion going on, and I liked the psychological angle of the film, with Blofeld literally haunting Bond’s psyche like a spectre. The lack of extras post Spectre meeting, Madeline being a psychiatrist, and Blofeld eventually torturing Bond by “getting inside his head”, all gave the film a slightly surreal and psychological thriller feel. I also thought Blofeld’s scheme was very clever and modern, and it’s just beautifully made, as all of the last three have been. Some really stunning shots.

    NTTD knocked it out of my top five, but it’s still top ten for me, and I think it’ll be reappraised in the future.

    It was difficult for me because I wanted to include Skyfall.
    But it is interesting and nice to see NTTD making the list from time to time.
    Top 5 is very strict, @chrisisall. ;)

    And for me OHMSS, and Daltons 2 will always be at the top. CR has now joined that group.
    After that I could flip flop a lot of the others, and it is hard to put them in a fixed order!
