I finally watched all the Bond films in the same calendar year and thought I'd throw my hat into the ring.

This is my first ranking since 2016!

    1) Skyfall
    2) On Her Majesty's Secret Service
    3) From Russia With Love
    4) The Spy Who Loved Me
    5) For Your Eyes Only
    6) Quantum Of Solace
    7) Casino Royale 2006
    8) Goldeneye
    9) The Living Daylights
    10) Octopussy
    11) Live And Let Die
    12) Dr. No
    13) Goldfinger
    14) You Only Live Twice
    15) Moonraker
    16) Never Say Never Again
    17) A View To A Kill
    18) Diamonds Are Forever
    19) Thunderball
    20) The Man With The Golden Gun
    21) Tomorrow Never Dies
    22) The World Is Not Enough
    23) Licence To Kill
    24) Spectre
    25) No Time To Die
    26) Die Another Day
    27) Casino Royale 1967

I'm going to cheat and make a few comments since it's been so long.

Skyfall getting the top spot surprised me, although it had placed as high as #4 in a previous ranking. It really moved me this time around. My extreme disappointment with NTTD was undoubtedly a deciding factor.

Indeed, I go to extremes when it comes to the Craig era. I absolutely love his first three, as you can see, but his last two... well, let's just say they weren't my cup of tea.

Roger Moore is my favorite Bond. I grew up watching his films and I think he's quite underrated these days. Some of his films are much better than their reputations would suggest.

Connery is still objectively the best Bond. He had it all. He is my father's Bond and while I may not place some of his films as traditionally high as other fans, I still have a deep level of respect for them.

I enjoy both Dalton and Brosnan but sometimes the scripts and direction let them down.

Each Bond actor has at least one entry in my top 10, excluding the mess that is CR67, naturally. I like what they all brought to the table, individually. Can you believe there will soon be a new Bond? Are we ready for it?

Very insightful @pachazo , I'm just sad that your 11-13 placed so low.

    Interesting ranking @ToTheRight
Good top 10, though NSNA doesn’t rank that highly for me.

I've been doing my aggregate scores since NTTDs release and there's been a few trends.

The 'average' reviewer / youtuber tends to rank SF, GF, LTK, GE more highly and OP, QOS, OHMSS lower than MI6c'ers.
CR is universally no 1. SF and not GF tends to be no 2 for average viewers. For MI6 members top spots tend to feature FRWL, OHMSS, TLD.

I will post a list at some point.

I'm not sure about that trends though.
I'm always watching some YouTube stuffs about Bond, and these films always makes their top 5: CR, GE, TSWLM, GF and FRWL.

SF, along with OHMSS, TB and LTK ends up usually somewhere at Top 10.

Joblo channel, Sean Chandler are some of the examples of videos about Bond that I've watched recently.

I'm sure you've watched Chris Stuckmann's video, those were the exact films that he put in his Top 5.

CR is universally no.1? Well, not me, I'm putting it somewhere near my top 10, maybe #11, but it's not my no.1.

That top 5 looks about right, and you're right about the others. But I'm not just talking about videos - also the comments. There's a guy called Sean Chandler and been through all 1200 comments and added up the lists there too. Yes I have too much time

    DEFINITIVE RANKING 2021/22

    1. Dr No

    3. The Living Daylights
    4. Thunderball
    5. Goldeneye
    6. Live And Let Die
    7. Goldfinger
    8. Octopussy
    9. You Only Live Twice
    10. From Russia With Love
    11. The Spy Who Loved Me
    12. Casino Royale
    13. The World Is Not Enough
    14. For Your Eyes Only

    16. The Man With The Golden Gun
    17. A View To A Kill
    18. Moonraker
    19. Diamonds Are Forever

    21. License To Kill
    22. Skyfall
    23. Quantum of Solace
    24. SPECTRE
    25. BOND 25

It really weights heavily on my heart to have to rank the recent films so low, since they were the only films I've been able to view in the theatre in my lifetime, I wish I could say I left those experiences with fond memories. Hopefully I can leave Bond 26 breathing a sigh of relief knowing all is right in the world of Bond once more. :-<

what is ironic is that I did have a brief honeymoon period with SP when it was first released, much to my embarrassment now, (as chronicled somewhere within the deep annuls of this site) I attribute this to my mind being overtaken by the traditional elements and bondian moments they snuck into that film, and the overall grandiose presentation of the thing. But then I was younger back then, and like to think I'm much less susceptible to being carried away on such dalliances these days, as evidenced when I wasn't taken in for a second by Bond 25 on first viewing and left feeling completely deflated, but that's a story for another thread...

but saying that, the Craig era was a catastrophe in slow motion, and once we made it to "the final film" in the arc, we all knew, based on the other films, how it would end. That's what makes it so insulting, as someone who never liked Craigs shtick particularly to begin with (casino royale is well constructed from a directorial viewpoint, but even then I feel they lean into mid-noughties angst too much for my taste, and it kinda dates the film looking back), they never steered out of the tailspin, they just rode it all the way, repeating the same tired plot points about mistrust in mi6, Bond going rogue, familial connections, and so on, each time just became more tedious, they didn't try anything new and then killing off bond to get back at fans for not liking nomi was the final straw.
