I'll admit I was a bit disappointed when I first heard the song (prior to the film) as I too was hoping for something a little more bombastic after Skyfall and Spectre... but it did make sense to me upon watching the film.

My understanding is Billie and Finneas watched the PTS prior to the final recording of the song which makes sense given the final version of the song.

Yeah. Well, even if I'm not entirely happy with the effort, I'm happy it won an Oscar like the last two Bond songs. But in truth, the last two Bond songs were just following Adele's style. Then again, I can't blame them.

It is funny to think that Ms Eilish wouldn’t have been old enough to see Skyfall in the cinema when it came out.

Yeah. Very funny. At this point, there's serious doubt that her record of singing a Bond theme at that age would ever be broken.

I'm not so thrilled by Eilish's NTTD. It's okay and better than the last three, but the only Bond song I really like from the Craig era is YKMN. And it took me quite some time to get used to it.

Much as I'm critical of the Brosnan films, except for DAD (of course) the music was better than that of the Craig movies. My favourite among the Brosnan films firmly remains SURRENDER, which should have been the title theme under the name that it was originally conceived, namely TOMORROW NEVER DIES. I don't dislike the Sheryl Crow song (and prefer it to the four most recent themes), but it doesn't stick up to "Surrender" in the least. The latter remains one of my candidates for Best Bond Song Ever.

OK, I'll shut up about this since this is a thread about the Worst Bond Song Ever.

In case I haven't written this earlier (didn't feel like checking), my perennial verdict in that regard goes to DAD. Same as with the worst entire movie.

Sheryl Crow's song sounds better without all the guitar. I know that's her thing.

Maradonna's for sure but I,m not a big fan of Lulu;s theme for MWTGG either. QOF sucked a little bit as well. I really really loved Chris Cornell's number for CR which was very catchy.

    True
I was going to "nominate" TMWTGG and was reviewing posts already up. Indeed. It is a lousy one. She's great, but went to waste with the stupid song.

There's no going wrong with a John Barry composition. So Lulu's rendition of TMWTGG has to be inherently great. Sorry, folks.

I think TMWTGG is really fun, and Lulu killed it at the recent Royal Albert Hall concert.

It isn't serious, but they don't all have to be; perfect for a Moore film.

Yeah, I don't mind Lulu's track as well. I also think Barry's composition is top-notch. The instrumental in Let's Go Get 'Em was very effective in the car chase, minus the whistle. But I think Lulu's slightly alternate take on the song at the end, starts really good and utterly Bondian.

After all these years and with a semi-new film and song, I'd say my updated pick is still Sam Smith's TWOTW. It's so terrible.

I dunno. Smiths whiney voice may grate, but the music is beautiful. Madonnas DAD is still unmatched for me, simply woeful in every department!
Have to say, i have grown more fond of Eilishs "NTTD', And it suits the film very well.

Primarily because of Smith’s delivery I loath this song; the only reason that It isn’t at the top of my worst list is because musically it’s got some appealing elements. Had it been performed by a female vocalist, it would not be on a worst list.

I have to agree that musically, Writing's On The Wall is very good. The instrumental is so Bondian.

They've all been pretty useless for a long time. NTTD was about the worst one ever. I couldn't believe they'd do yet ANOTHER slow one. Even worse than the Adele one.
My favourites. Goldfinger, Live and Let Die, Nobody Does It Better. The best 'recent' one was 'The World Is Not Enough'. I wouldn't underestimate the value of a really great song. I hope then next one is a big improvement. There is, unfortunately, a tendency to use the latest big artist to do a song.

Worst Bond song? Apart from what I wrote before, as an ad-hoc opinion tonight (or rather this morning), it's probably still either Die Another Day or Writing's on the Wall, for whatever it's worth.

I like NTTD more and more as I listen to it...I think it's the second-best Craig song after YKMN. The others are just...meh.

I like Lulu, a lot, and it is a shame she was wasted on the theme song for TMWTGG...what dreck.

Yeah. I'm beginning to like NTTD with more listens...I didn't see that coming. Sure, YKMN is still be best.

No one will beat The Man With The Golden Gun as the worst of the lot.
From Lulu's voice ("Who will he bang? We shall see! Yeah, Yeah, Yeah") it's a bit overacting on her part, the lyrics are cringe.

Then the sound/tune, the instruments, even the orchestration, it's ridiculous, it's like a theme song made for a cheap 70's Asian comedy.
I'm not at all surprised in this, considering the slide whistle :))

It's for me, the nadir of the Bond themes, yes much more than Another Way To Die, at least Alicia Keys' voice kinda worked for the song, and I though liked the guitar riffs, especially the intro tune, but TMWTGG, it has no credits, even the intro tune was really laughable.

Oh wow, I thought it was just me!
That's the only one that has just zero Bond magic in it for me. FYEO could be any pop song.

Alternate versions of a song sometimes render a different opinion. For example, DAD works a lot better as an orchestrated instrumental. But AWTD as an instrumental sounds equally as awful as the original. For me there's nothing pleasant about this song, which is probably why in the three films that followed nothing resembled that song.

Another Way to Die, followed by The Writing's On the Wall and No Time To Die, which are practically the same song.

What about YKMN and SF? Gotta complete the fivefecta

YKMN is one of my favorites. I like SF musically but not lyrically. It falls somewhere in the middle of my overall ranking.

    "Die Another Day".
I am not very fond of the excessive autotune in that song, or autotune in general for that matter. ~X(
  • Another Way to Die by far followed by Diet another day.

"Diet Another Day" sounds quite promising, actually. Eat as much as you like until then.
  • I missed out on Spectre here in 2015 but now given the opportunity, think may have to pick Sam Smith's 'writing' as the absolute nadir of the franchise. Any further viewings I just skip the intro and go straight to the start of movie. Spectre itself is a really good (Craig) entry, far better than NTTD but falls short of both Casino Royale and Skyfall. But the title song, makes Madonna or Keys and White sound like a Tchaikovsky symphony.

Up until then, Quantum of Solace took the award, but guess they've been spared something of an unwanted honor in the time since.
