With 2024 staring us in the face and still no official amnouncement, the prospect of a 2025 release date for Bond 26 is now entering the rear view mirror sadly.

There's just no way they are gonna put together a whole film from scratch + cast a new Bond in the next 24 months, you'd have to be crazy to believe that.

If you make this comment again in April 2024, then I will agree.

On a different note: question to the people who think the ATJ rumour is completely made up: Why do you think he reacted the way he did in that August Esquire article when the interviewer tried to mention the rumour?

That is a very weird response isn't it?
I'm always weary of a potential candidate dodging a Bond question though, perhaps it's them trying to stoke fires, rather than them actually being on EON's radar.

I think ATJ is definitely in the running though, he fits the profile of potential Bond, but I do think him being that Kraven character will knock his chances.

During the strike, are actors allowed to give interviews, let alone audition? I don't think so. (That interview had to have been conducted a while ago, which lends it less credibility.)

Recall when all the actors walked out during the premiere of...wait for it...

I think he is a bit of a prickly odd guy to be honest.
Mind you, I am reminded that this time last year I saw him with my own eyes at the official Bond concert in the corridors of the Albert Hall….

I don't think it's made up but I think when a role is that coveted people tend to be coy. The risk of potentially saying the wrong thing and impacting your chances, I mean let's be real - for most British actors it's the absolute dream gig.

The power that comes along with a role like that is second to none. Add into that the extra pressure of a screen test or two under your belt - no one is likely to want to rock Barb's boat.

Another factor in all of this is whether or not the moneymen at Amazon/MGM are making their presence known. After such a sizeable acquisition, even if they don't own the rights, they're going to want to get those IPs moving. There's no way pressure around 'what's next' isn't building.

And, critically we're in an interesting inflection point. Mission Impossible significantly underperformed, despite the positive buzz - people are saying its budget ($291 million) was too big and that Cruise's age may be a factor. If I was producing the next Bond film, I'd be taking some notes.

In many ways a rebooted Bond, younger in age, with plenty of films in him - that can also bring new and younger audiences into the fold would be my priority. A more streamlined story and sensible range of budget (£100-£150 million) gives the film the best chance chance or profit, allowing for PP deals and marketing costs.

At this point ATJ may be too big, too commited elsewhere and even a smidge too old - but time will tell.

The first rule of Fight Club is: you do not talk about Fight Club. Casting a new actor is an intense process; While Craig was on EON's radar, there were other candidates; eight according to Martin Campbell. One of the best things that an actor can do is let the process play out and keep his mouth shut.

Maybe these guys take seriously the notion that becoming too linked to the role might squander their chances of actually getting it. It reminds me of that clip of Richard Madden being asked about Bond at some press event, laughing and then quickly walking away.

I’ve not seen that, but after that diabolical Amazon show I can’t believe that Madden could be further from 007.

Skip to 0:44 for the clip I was referring to, but clearly he's been deflecting questions for a while. It wouldn't surprise me if he's really desperate to get it. I've not seen Citadel, but I don't want him for Bond either.

No to Madden, back then he's okay, but now, since that Eternals, his looks and his presence really faded on me.
Just not a fan of him now.

You really won’t want him if you do see it! :D

So here's some conjecture on my part. Will Poulter - He'd been in attendance at the Omega event way back in Nov 2022 and was seen chatting with Daniel Craig and Hayley Attwell.

    https://youtube.com/watch?v=5lapfZLJY4A See 22 seconds in.

    omega-celebrates-60-years-of-james-bond-with-daniel-craig.jpg?s=2048x2048&w=gi&k=20&c=CxHnX5Vl_On7q8RXCVNtAEg4PscnyL8_w_rZFcSQ5zw=

And at the recent Dior shoot he was seen wearing an Omega Aqua Terra Shades.

    Will-Poulter-Photoshoot-2023-Hunger-Magazine-001.jpg

When asked why he wasn't wearing a Dior fashion watch he explained he had an upcoming project that contractually meant he was tied to Omega, he then waxed lyrical about being a big Omega fan and his watch being gifted to him by Raynald Aeschlimann, President and CEO of OMEGA.

    Summer_watch_spots_0004_Will_poulter_x_omega.jpg

What's also interesting is that when asked about his training regime post Guardians of the Galaxy 3, he stated 2 months ago his next project would be physically the most intensive project to date. And he was continuing to work with Simon Waterson, who had got him in shape for GoG3, yep the same Simon who trained Daniel Craig. Now I know this is pure conjecture but there's some serious dots worthy of connecting.

    rs_1200x1200-220211125605-1200-Daniel_Craig-Simon_Waterson-selfie-gj.jpg?fit=around%7C1200:1200&output-quality=90&crop=1200:1200;center,top

At 30, he'd be 31/32 once production wrapped, vs Aaron Taylor Johnson who is currently 33, taking him to roughly 35.

Will Bond 26 be the first official Bond film ever in which no actor from the previous movie returns? 🤔

It will be more unofficial than NSNA!

Personally I'd like at least one person to continue, just to make the transition a little easier. But I suspect they'll want a totally clean break. I think it's even more important now than it was in 2006.

Still pulling for Colin Salmon as M in at least a part adaptation of the one-shot comic Solstice.

He would be an excellent choice, and would be a great way to include a legacy cast member who’s presence would not be too intrusive .

I keep going back to the Omega event in Nov 2022 and think there are clues in some of the attendees.

One person who stands out for me is Alistair Petrie. He typically plays villainous and aristocratic blue-blood types in UK productions.

He's also played a fair few senior military roles - I wonder if he might be shoe-in for a potential M character or if they go deeper on the origin side of things, with a younger actor, someone from the University of Geneva/SAS?

He's also very in the assendance with younger folk thanks to Andor and also Sex Education.

Oh yeah, he's a shoe-in for any number of roles. English working actor in his 50s? Yes and thank you. Off of his profile I'd probably expect more of a tertiary role - government toff, former 00, SAS leadership, sadistic henchman, local station chief - rather than M or lead villain, but I wouldn't be against him in any way.

There was never a partnership with Rolex, and tbh, I can’t see either side wanting one now.

Ditching the Aston Martin DB5 for the Bentley would be nice too, or at least a Lotus of some kind. I understand there's a lot of money tied up with Aston Martin though so this may be asking too much.

I’d gladly take a Bentley over the Aston Martin for awhile. If the same people are complaining at me about Blofeld being a constant threat, yet always want the DB5, they’re hypocrites. They’re both Bond trademarks that should have breaks every now and then.

While I agree in principle, in reality, I find all current Bentley models way too garish or gaudy for a Bond car. Maybe something like a 2009 Continental Supersports before they went completely crazy with the grilles? Which would fit with Bond driving an older, but tuned to the gills Bentley...

Not that any of the Aston Martins are subtle cars...

Yes, I don't want the DB5, but I'd say that Aston do suit Bond more than Bentley do nowadays.
I have no objection to Omega remaining Bond's watch either.

I still want Bond to drive Aston's and wear Omega. They are his brands. Perhaps retire the DB5 for a bit, especially in the promotional material, but they can use other Aston Martin's.

Yes, I completely agree. Keep Aston and Omega. New ones.

I think both Aston and Omega simply pay too much money to not be involved in Bond. They'd only be usurped if someone came in with a bigger wallet.

And it's not a BMW situation either: they both fit Bond perfectly and I'd want their products in there even if they weren't paying.
