That is a very weird response isn't it?
I'm always weary of a potential candidate dodging a Bond question though, perhaps it's them trying to stoke fires, rather than them actually being on EON's radar.
I think ATJ is definitely in the running though, he fits the profile of potential Bond, but I do think him being that Kraven character will knock his chances.
Recall when all the actors walked out during the premiere of...wait for it...

I think he is a bit of a prickly odd guy to be honest.
Mind you, I am reminded that this time last year I saw him with my own eyes at the official Bond concert in the corridors of the Albert Hall….
The power that comes along with a role like that is second to none. Add into that the extra pressure of a screen test or two under your belt - no one is likely to want to rock Barb's boat.
Another factor in all of this is whether or not the moneymen at Amazon/MGM are making their presence known. After such a sizeable acquisition, even if they don't own the rights, they're going to want to get those IPs moving. There's no way pressure around 'what's next' isn't building.
And, critically we're in an interesting inflection point. Mission Impossible significantly underperformed, despite the positive buzz - people are saying its budget ($291 million) was too big and that Cruise's age may be a factor. If I was producing the next Bond film, I'd be taking some notes.
In many ways a rebooted Bond, younger in age, with plenty of films in him - that can also bring new and younger audiences into the fold would be my priority. A more streamlined story and sensible range of budget (£100-£150 million) gives the film the best chance chance or profit, allowing for PP deals and marketing costs.
At this point ATJ may be too big, too commited elsewhere and even a smidge too old - but time will tell.
Skip to 0:44 for the clip I was referring to, but clearly he's been deflecting questions for a while. It wouldn't surprise me if he's really desperate to get it. I've not seen Citadel, but I don't want him for Bond either.
Just not a fan of him now.
Rick Astley?
It will be more unofficial than NSNA!
Still pulling for Colin Salmon as M in at least a part adaptation of the one-shot comic Solstice.
He would be an excellent choice, and would be a great way to include a legacy cast member who’s presence would not be too intrusive .
I'd love that
One person who stands out for me is Alistair Petrie. He typically plays villainous and aristocratic blue-blood types in UK productions.
He's also played a fair few senior military roles - I wonder if he might be shoe-in for a potential M character or if they go deeper on the origin side of things, with a younger actor, someone from the University of Geneva/SAS?
He's also very in the assendance with younger folk thanks to Andor and also Sex Education.
There was never a partnership with Rolex, and tbh, I can’t see either side wanting one now.
I’d gladly take a Bentley over the Aston Martin for awhile. If the same people are complaining at me about Blofeld being a constant threat, yet always want the DB5, they’re hypocrites. They’re both Bond trademarks that should have breaks every now and then.
While I agree in principle, in reality, I find all current Bentley models way too garish or gaudy for a Bond car. Maybe something like a 2009 Continental Supersports before they went completely crazy with the grilles? Which would fit with Bond driving an older, but tuned to the gills Bentley...
Not that any of the Aston Martins are subtle cars...
Yes, I don't want the DB5, but I'd say that Aston do suit Bond more than Bentley do nowadays.
I have no objection to Omega remaining Bond's watch either.
Yes, I completely agree. Keep Aston and Omega. New ones.
