What country would you like to be the MAIN location for BOND 26?

My only issue with Poland is that Bond locations shouldn’t necessarily be ones you’d get in a Le Carre novel. It’s perhaps more an issue of how the location is presented (some the cities in Poland mentioned are quite pretty and could be just as interesting as, say, Istanbul in FRWL) but I don’t particularly want grey streets and Cold War-esque imagery in a Bond film.

I think that's more your perception of the country, than anything else. Just an example:

    or this one:

    Best-Beautiful-Goluchow-Castle-Poland.jpg?media=1693491050

Or just the city of Krakow:

or what about 'the crooked forest'

Blofeld was Polish, right? So, maybe they could proper show his origins in Poland, maybe through Bond's POV, while investigating about Blofeld's background, or have Blofeld invited Bond in his country and have it all revealed through Bond's lens.

Yeah exactly, that’s what I was saying - it’s about how the country is presented. I just don’t want any dark grey streets and Le Carre spies in trench coats for Bond.

Agreed on Poland and its Cold War feel, and given current Russian threats, timely.

I would like to see Bond go to new and less explored (onscreen) countries--give me a Bhutan or a Finland--but that being said, Brazil is always welcome!

Late to this, but you're spot on. With the renewed East-West tensions (to say the least) in Europe, Central Europe becomes a more thematically relevant location again. There's quite obviously not going to be any major western film production going to Russia anytime soon, but you could probably easily find some locations in the former Soviet Republics that are now part of the EU. There's probably also something cool to be done around the Baltic Sea. Heiligendamm near Rostock has a famous Hotel that used to house the G8 summit in 2007, which could be a good backdrop for a variety of scenes. This is of course in no way a self-serving suggestion because I have family living close by ^^

Honestly America would be interesting as it hasn’t been used since casino royale?

Would love to see Bond go to Tibet, such a distinct part of China. In one of the video games, Bond must scale a mountain to reach a temple, using a grappling hook on strategically placed statues (which I think look like yaks).

Well, they still haven’t shoot that frozen waterfall scene from TND’s original script. So…

Saudi Arabia would be interesting. And they wouldn't need finanicing the movie, since the crown prince allegedly is a huge Bond fan.

Saudi Arabia has a lot of human rights issues, so it doesn't bring the escapism that I usually look for in a Bond film.

    How did you know?
  • What about the cool neighbours next door... Wales.

I think they've used Snowdonia a lot in previous Bond film as a filming location, and of course tried to get permission for the Welsh Assembly buildings, but this time Bond can be like:

"I'm in Wales, M. Watchin the rugby."
  • Places I NEVER want Bond go go: Singapore, Dubai (!!!), not even Shanghai (again). Does artificial, skyscraper-filled. kids-fantasies location are so boring for Bond. Let MI go there. Dubai for Bond would just be as bad as Las Vegas.

I would recommend: Focus on ONE main location again, really capture the atmosphere of that country/region, let Bond travel within that country. And dont try to include

Main favorite place would be Greece. Yes, it was partly featured in FYEO, but it has been totally ignore ever since, while we constantly get Italy featured. Why am i suggesting Greece (besides my love for the country):
    - It is easy to involve it in a geo-political/strategic plot being part of the balcans, having a huge shipping sector,...
    - landscape wise it has it all! With skiing, thousands of islands, ancient places, busy cities (Athens).
    - The super-luxury islands especially Mykonos with dozens of super luxury Yachts
    - it definitely has a unique atmosphere and vibes
    - It is one of the most dreamt of exotic vacation locations for the US audiences!

The best Bonds have a sense of discovery of new places. The issue is that we are in an influencer world, so there are few corners of the world left untouched by social media.

QoS had the right idea (particularly in the Atacama) but it didn't spend enough time in its locations.

There's a reason why they keep going back to unnamed island climaxes but I think Eon can do better.

Under that paradigm, Greece is a bad idea. I don’t even know why, but I get soon-con about Greek islands every spring/summer.

Africa, I think, still has a lot of places that a Bond film could discover.

I guess I see things very differently to most people. Modern cities lained with skyscrapers seems to be most people's go to when possible locations are being discussed. I think the opposite. I am honestly starving to see Bond again somewhere properly exotic, ideally with old, historic sights and architecture. We've had basically none of that at all during the last decades. The closest we have been are some desert land in Morocco and Chile, but they didn't explore sights or old villages.

My dream has always been seeing Bond in the Himalayas and Lhasa specifically. It's a utopian dream, I know (1. the Chinese will never allow it, 2. it's too complicated and expensive), but these are the kinds of places I want the film makers to explore.

I'd say a return to India is in order. There are plenty of places to go to there, but the first thing that pops up in my mind is Jodhpur and it's glorious old town and castle I have had the pleasure of visiting. I'd post pictures if I knew how... :P

That was a typo. Spon-con. Sponsored content. Content creators being paid to review a product or get a free trip somewhere to film and photograph there and tell their followers how great it is or "The 10 best Greek Islands" or whatever.

Yes, how many Bond films are set in Jamaica?
If my memory serves, only Dr. No and NTTD?

But Jamaica is morr used as a location in the Fleming Books.

This is not the title thread, but the locations thread!

Has anyone here visited North Macedonia? It seems to be a perfect setting for Bond:
