I wonder if we'll even see a new Felix in the next era?

    We don’t need to.

Anson Mount (Star Trek) would make a good Felix

I was going to post a pic of a baby with a gun, to answer to this thread’s question, and suddenly I found out that was a thing on the ever polluted internet and quickly walked away. Damn, people are sick.

Anyways, I don’t feel the need for Felix to return in the next era. I want new villains, new allies, no mi6 team, no team whatsoever.

I also think they should go back to a stripped-down Bond a la CR. Show supporting characters only when needed. I'd love to see them place Bond in an environment (the Outback?) where cell phones and/or technology don't help him, so that he has to use his wits and charm to survive.

I've long said Wyatt Russel, but after watching a bit of Yellowstone, I'd say Luke Grimes at least has the look down...

Yes, I'd be also fine without recurring villains, interconnected movies or too much teamwork in the next run. 'One man in the field with his licence to kill' - that's a big part of the appeal for me.

Also, can we talk about "take the bloody shot" in SF?

So Bond has a "licence to kill (only when M says so)"?

    I blame Mendes.

No idea why this is in this thread, but she tells Eve, who doesn’t have an LTK to take the bloody shot.

Now, generally I think it’s ludicrous that the Head of the Secret Intelligence Service is running mission oversight on one specific mission, but frankly they’ve more or less done that with every M with the field offices and all that.

I have appreciated the Craig series sticking with one actor for Felix. I hope that continues. After starting so well with Jack Lord, Felix continued to be a disappointment until LALD. Then we didn't DH for another 16 years. My hope is Felix will continue to be cast with a male actor, as well as Mathis should he return. Not that women couldn't bring something original to either role, but I can see those roles turning into a competition between the sexes and the usual silly banter.

Kevin McKidd's only a micro-generation behind Dan - if he'd been a full gen behind, he'd've been ideal to continue CraigBond's storylines. You could believe they were playing the same character. As an actor, I'd say he was second only to Dan among that era of British actors. Dunno if he can do an American accent, but he's working class Scottish and his posh English accent is excellent so he could have the knack. So if EON reverted to Felix being a bit older than Bond, how'd he do as the new guy's Leiter?

This guy is perfect for Felix Leiter in Bond 26. Coming in 2062, just in time for the anniversary.

We should definitely have Felix back as an ongoing character. Just follow Fleming's character.

Bring Leiter back, get his personality consistent right off the bat (I loved Wright as Leiter but I thought it took his third appearance for me to finally feel like he was the "right" version of the character), and let him get in on the fun at times too.

Proposing high profile actors such as Jon Hamm to portray Felix Leiter is a waste of time. Need this even be explained ?

A pretty unknown actor that matches the Fleming description in looks and manner will always be welcome.

Has any actor come close to that? A shock of straw blonde hair and a Texas drawl?

Nope. Closest I'd give it to Rik Van Nutter.

    Casino Royale, Ian Fleming, 1953.
Chapter 7 - Rouge et Noir
Felix Leiter was about thirty five. He was tall with a thin bony frame and his lightweight, tan coloured suit hung loosely from his shoulders like the clothes of Frank Sinatra. His movements and speech were slow, but one had the feeling that there was plenty of speed and strength in him and that he would be a tough and cruel fighter. As he sat hunched over the table, he seemed to have some of the jack knife quality of a falcon. There was this impression also in his face, in the sharpness of his chin and cheekbones and the wide wry mouth. His grey eyes had a feline slant which was increased by his habit of screwing them up against the smoke of the Chesterfields which he tapped out of the pack in a chain. The permanent wrinkles which this habit had etched at the corners gave the impression that he smiled more with his eyes than with his mouth. A mop of straw coloured hair lent his face a boyish look which closer examination contradicted. Although he seemed to talk quite openly about his duties in Paris, Bond soon noticed that he never spoke of his American colleagues in Europe or in Washington and he guessed that Leiter held the interests of his own organization far above the mutual concerns of the North Atlantic Allies. Bond sympathized with him.

@RichardTheBruce - Closest in appearance. Unfortunately about as much screen presence and personality as a tree stump.

Given the woke times we live in... maybe it will be
    Felicity Leiter.

obviously it will depend on who is cast as Bond , i would suggest either Wes Chatam or Steven Strait from the Expanse

Pretty sure I’ve suggested this actor for Leiter in another thread but seemingly not this one.

Boyd Holbrook I think would be a good fit. He’s got the right hair and thin frame of the character from the novels, but I think he’s a good actor with a lot of charisma. Ever so slightly older likely than a future Bond we’ll likely get, although he’s only in his early 40s, and it could create a nice dynamic.

Obviously it depends on what they’re going for; Boyd Holbrook would be excellent for a Felix who is a contemporary , or close to , of Bonds. If they want to go for a somewhat older, mentor, Felix, I’ve long championed Jon Hamm.

Maybe Felix can be played by...a cigarette lighter? Let's try:

    Bond: "Felix? You there?"
Felix: "Oh, Hi James. I see you bought Strutter's car. He would've liked that."
Bond: "Felix, I need your help. You're the only one I can trust."
Felix: "Well sure, James. But I can't do much, I can only speak. Oh, I can light your cigar too."
Bond: "Well that's a start. Good work Felix. I'll get us both a cigar.
Felix: "Hey, it's just like old times."

Q (to M, later): "Not 'Felix', sir, but 'F.E.L.I.X.', the Feedback Effecting Life-like Intelligence Examiner, an AI interface incorporated into the car's computer."

Hopefully a young talented unknown American actor. Their job is basically to make look Bond look cooler, so you don't want some too famous or someone you could mistake for Bond himself.

The only reason Jack Lord worked was because Connery as Bond was the coolest man on the planet
