I could do with being on facebook its been 15 years since I last went on there, one thing it was handy for was posting items to sell on local selling page.
Our summer started very late due to rain mostly, its still warm here i am hoping for another 6 weeks of it lol
The cases looks similar to these they are ideal, found them in a charity shop though will look online for more.
I bought a good mix of CD's today Sinatra, The Temptations, Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and South Park lol I am making some good ground of my previous music collection, i have bought a lot of albums I previously owned mainly what i had on vinyl.
Those cases look really handy. Haven't seen many black cases before; usually it's the ordinary blank ones I've been able to find.
That's quite a collection! I've probably mentioned it previously in this thread, but one of the charity shops – or "used shops" as we call them – in my hometown, has opened a dedicated room for vinyl and music, which looks to have become quite popular. I've very deliberately not visited that shop yet, as I really don't need more stuff in my flat right now! :))
The black case are great as you can insert a sleeve a double CD case I had was wrecked for one double album i had so the case was a great substitute.
I see more and more vintage music stores where i am or at least shops pushing physical music it is good to see. I am very lucky as have some great shops near me where i have had some great finds albums wise, not always cheap though some of the CD's are very difficult to get hold of.
The vintage stores in my hometown are a bit of a mixed bag (that record room I've yet to see aside). I've picked up some furniture at one of them, but there's little audio equipment to find. It's mostly interior stuff – which is obviously great when you find something you need.
They are a good slimline option when needed I have just used them for classical compilation CD's for now. I will staring clearing my spare room today, i must have a bout 50 empty boxes in there, god know why I hang on to them.
I looked on amazon yesterday for CD cabinet, something like this would be useful...
I ordered 10 Hawkwind CD's yesterday in CD box sets so they will need room to display lol
90% of my CD collection are still and will remain in jewel cases, other storage options are fro lessor CD's to free up space.
Perhaps interesting as a life hack: To separate my CDs by alphabetic order (in three sections for classical, film music (soundtracks) and the rest (pop, rock, jazz...you name it), I use HD-DVD sleeves (red) turned sideways, with a strip of paper tucked inside the sleeve. I bought these sleeves dirt cheap on Amazon ten years ago, when there were no longer HD-DVDs that needed them (I never had HD-DVD). I had first considered cutting adequate pieces from wooden boards but this proved to be easier and probably looks better unless one is really a gifted cabinet maker or carpenter.
Nice collection and a good space saving solution. I ended up organizing my CD's by genre I have a 90's section, a Rock section, Soul and Motown section, Rap and Dance music, my largest section is Bond/film soundtracks, then I have a easy listening section. My system works in that when I need to find a CD I know where most of them are without having to excessively search.
If it wasn't for lack of space, I probably would have kept my CD collection in their jewel cases, as they are – like you point out, @j_w_pepper – part of the product and the physical experience. In any case, slim sleeves are still better than just transferring the CDs to an external hard drive, only to be forgotten. My most precious CD releases remain in their original jewel cases though.
I really like the shelving you have too, as well as the HD-DVD sleeves hack! Back in the days when my hometown had a record shop, they had these really nice, thick cards (probably in plastic) that separated artist by genre and alphabetical order. I've never found similar cards myself, though I suspect these were custom made for the chain of music stores this store was part of. I have too considered cutting pieces from wooden boards to make custom cards, but another project is the last thing I need right now, haha!
I often listen to Podcasts on Spotify though I have never subscribed, all my digital purchases were on Amazon Prime Music, in the last few years I have reverted back to physical media.
Yes, physical media is really better, but the problem is the price 😁.
Are the digital prices in Amazon affordable?
Amazon has been mixed price wise, I probably have around 100 digital purchases, now I only buy digital if its impossible to get an album on any other format or the price is way too high on physical media. The downside of Amazon is you can't purchase 16bit or 24bit they have a cap..
I have been lucky with CD's and managed to get many at very cheap prices, saying that I have just spent around £200 on Hawkwind albums, I am rebuilding that collection from scratch.
I bought another Hawkind boxset, well make that another 3. Now I have 24 Hawkwind albums, such an amazing band.
It is Prime day tomorrow, I want to buy a CD walkman.

How many albums have they released? Can't be many active bands that are that prolific.
It's not long until the two rooms in my flat are finished. I will have to have a look at my audio gear once everything is done, and see if there's anything I can't keep. It's better not too have too much stuff though, IMO. Looking at the rooms right now, unfurnished, I don't feel like filling them with a lot of stuff!
I might treat myself to some new bluetooth headphones at some point. I've been planning to go outside for more walks and short runs than I do these days (at least when spring comes!), and some activity oriented headphones might be the way to go.
I recently got a pair of over-ear headphones from the design studio I work at; Bowers & Wilkins PX7 S2e. They have features like noise-cancelling, adjustments through a dedicated B&W app, and can be used wireless and via minijack or USB. They are really nice. I haven't really tried them out more than just connecting them to my Macbook, but they are more than good enough for their use. The sound is better when connected with USB, than wireless. When listening to podcast, Bluetooth connection is fine, though.
That is great news I bet you can't wait until it is all sorted, I always find a change often sparks creativity or at least a boost, I need to take my own advice.
Amazingly Hawkwind have 36 studio albums, in total they have well over 50 albums.
Until this year rally not bothered with music outdoors, I probably want to cut myself of from the world more lol joking aside I really wanted something for all weathers these new headphones are great, they are so light you forget you ae wearing them.
Still waiting for the final few things to be sorted; the electrical work still needs to be done, and I'm waiting for wardrobe sliding doors to be delivered. In the meantime, I have my bed in the living room, and the place looks like a total mess! :)) I'm probably 2-3 weeks from being all done.

I don't listen that much to music when I'm outdoors, but when I can and want, it's great to have that opportunity. For now, my Apple EarPods are fine, but they are best for walks. I can see them falling out quite easily if running.
It will be worthwhile once it is all sorted, at least it will be done before Christmas.
I bought Hawkwind's most recent album the other day released 6 months ago so another one to the collection, amazing this band has been around since the late 60's.
I never really bothered using head phiones that much when running until recently, its good knowing I don't have to worry about them getting wet or falling off. I wore them the other day whilst hill running listening to all the Rocky scores and it did spur me on that bit more.
It will be great to be finished. I was thinking to myself earlier this week that I should take a few weeks just to relax and enjoy myself after the work is done (outside of work hours that is), but I'm also helping out selling and clearing out my mother's house too, so I don't think I'll have much spare time available until Christmas! :))
Are there many left of the original lineup? There aren't many bands and artists releasing new music after 60 years in the business, that's for sure!
I find time passes much quicker while listening to something – when exercising too. Working at an office, it's also great to have music on when concentrating.
Even if it is just for an hour or two take the opportunity to relax and enjoy yourself, when things are hectic which they have been recently i make sure i have some switch off time.
Dave Brock is the only one that has been there forever lol many band members in this group and have stayed for different periods, Brock insures the sound is unmistakable despite changes to lineups over the decades, covering many genres from metal, punk, prog rock, space rock and trance Hawkwind is still very unique.
Spot on certainly when the weather is not as good music is a welcome distraction when out running or walking. I need to try these new headphones whilst cycling see how safe I feel on the road.
Usually I try to take some time off when watching Arsenal play, but it's hardly relaxing watching football, haha! I try to take the evenings off as much as I can though, but as long as there's stuff that needs doing, I keep thinking about it when trying to relax. The next three weeks will probably be the most stressful weeks this year, so I'll be very happy when everything is done and those weeks are over.
It's very important for bands to have some consistency. I doubt they'd be going strong still without him. You sometimes see bands that are more or less without original members, and are active by name and present members only.
I try to keep the volume quite low when listening to music outdoors. I certainly don't want to be unaware about approaching traffic or cyclists.
As a United fan despite playing OK yesterday I have been ground down, stress has turned into apathy lol though I know what you mean, when we were constantly competing for titles it was edge of your seat stuff.
My CD's are getting out of control again, i find storage solutions though I just keep buying more CD's lol which is great having so much physical music to choose from again.
Once your home is sorted you will sit down and think yes that was worth it.
Because the Bone conduction headphones are away from the inner ear volume is not much of an issue only if there is a lot of environmental sound like heavy traffic etc I turn up the volume.These headphones are the best of both worlds whilst outside.
Listening to my internet radio for the first time in several months, because of my CD obsession not been using it.
All my great CD's will stay in jewel cases, though I have hundreds of CD's that can go into these sleeves.
I bought this case that once the CD's are in sleeves will house around 240 albums.
The sleeves also make excellent CD digipack protective covers.
The sleeves are made out of polypropylene so wont cause harm to the CD.
The whole process will take some time, not going to do it today lol the extra space I will gain will be worthwhile.
The 200 hundred sleeves and case cost around £60 so quite reasonable.

The CDs I kept in the thin black plastic cases like the ones others have posted pics of earlier
The DVDs I kept in plastic ziplock bags. I would take the picture cover from the original DVD case and fold it to fit the bag, then slide the DVD in between, so I could still look at the cover art.
This saves alot of space compared to keeping them in the original cases, however, as you will be aware, when you have more space, it just encourages you aquire more stuff to fill it up.
So eventually I have gone digital, with terabyte hard drives, and even then I can see a day when I will manage to fill that up as well, although the tech geeks seem to be achieving ever better compression rates (that don't compromise picture quality), so who knows?
My favourite place to listen to music is while driving my car, so "N"th degree sound quality is not important to me.
I founs the sleeves on amazon though other places sell hem online.
I am getting cold feet about discarding jewel cases lol
Edited:I have put CD's in the box still in jewel case, all my Bond sores and movie soundtrack and the box actually house 96 CD's.
To start with I will put a particular collection of jewel CD's in the case (the case will house 80 jewel cases). I have a few shoe box CD boxes so will put the slim cases in there of CD's that are bottom tier. Then I will see how I feel about the space I have gained...
I found good solution for my old DVD's I have 7 binder folders that house around 180 DVD's and the cover art, I am thinking of a similar solution for my lessor Blurays.
I do have several hundred digital albums on my PC and my Sony Walkman mp3 player, I could do with a third digital back up.
My lounge is my favorite place to listen to music with my passive speakers and sub woofer, though saying that I have recently started to listen to music whilst running with my recently bought Open run Headphones, I really get engrossed in an album listening whilst out and about.
(I should have stacked another jewel case as there were 9 sleeves).
Just transferred a few as a test, I think I will end up buying a few hundred more of these sleeves, they have a great tactile feel to them.
I estimate that I would be able to put around 300 of these sleeves in the silver CD box, this process is becoming more appealing by the second.
I bet I will end up buying a second CD box and I have already found some great CD indexing cards which I will buy at some point assuming I don't make some home made ones.
If going (more) digital was possible, I wouldn't mind downsizing my collection of movies considerably, if only just to save space. I don't really have a goal to grow my physical collection, but unfortunately there are always plenty of titles that are difficult to find as digital downloads, or on streaming services. So you end up buying physical copies instead. All of these can be made into playable files of course, but that will be my last resort, should I need to free up even more space.
I used to listen a lot to music when driving, but these days it's mostly when I'm inside and working I find time for music. I don't need perfect sound quality, but I do find music more enjoyable when there’s a decent level of quality – it just makes the experience more fun.

My collection is probably now 95/5 sleeves vs. jewel cases. Only the most "precious" CDs, and CDs with packaging that doesn't allow me to store them in sleeves are kept "as is".

Thais good so you have already converted to sleeves, I think I may end up doing most of my jewel cases, I have already made space and its great lol
Edited: 50 CD's are now in sleeves so I have a full large carrier bag full of empty jewel cases. I also now have an empty double CD tower and cleared a whole shelf. I am thinking of ordering another silver box tonight, I still would like to keep three of my CDs towers in my lounge which hold 160 CD's in total as there are very nice wood and look good.

Just thought the above index cards are no good for me as my CD's will be upright in the box not length ways so the cards are not tall enough.
Just found a good solution, I have 100 10 x 15cm sheets of glossy photo paper which is exactly the same size as the CD sleeves. I also have found some sticky index tabs which i can attach to the top of the glossy photo paper.
