Another rumour: Nolan's next film might be a spy movie!

Is Nolan about to show EON how it's done? ^:)^

@Colonel_Venus , considering Matt Damon is the star, and definitely not the new Bond actor, and he, himself (as in Mr. Damon), has famously made known his contempt for James Bond as a character, I’m gonna bet my house that this isn’t the new Bond picture (that will be released in October of 2027, not July 2026)….

I think they were implying that Nolan will show EON "how it's done" by making his own spy film and not doing Bond (unless I'm misreading what was meant too).

Oh, yeah, that makes more sense, @Creasy47 ... And , so long as Nolan stays far away from Bond, that's a good thing in my book... And he better stay away from Blue Thunder too!!

Otherwise, all good from this end (and thanks for correcting me!)

No problem! I had to read it again to make sure I wasn't the one who was misinterpreting the comment (always a possibility).

Tom Holland is circling a lead role in Nolan's next film:

I remember folks talking about how TENET was gonna be Nolan showing Eon “how it’s done” and we saw how that turned out.

I’ve always been intrigued with what a Nolan Bond film would be like, but only under Eon’s purview. If Nolan wasn’t capable of working under Eon’s house rules, then oh well. I’d rather Nolan check his ego out the door than have total control over the film. Besides, Eon and Nolan have done fine separately for he past 25 years, they don’t need each other.

It sounds like an awful idea to be fair, and Uncharted wasn’t a great movie either.

I would suspect much like a period piece Bond film, an origin story about a young Bond is probably something they’ve thought about and ruled out decades ago. It’s not exactly a unique idea in itself. Tom Holland as Bond would be terrible too.

    I don't like his Spider-Man either.

    Nolan, was Timothée Chalamet busy?

Oh I like his Spiderman. Just not sure about him as Bond (or even in Uncharted frankly).

Today's new rumor: it'll be a vampire film set in the 1920s. I think this one has been rumored to touch upon every genre and sub-genre so far.

Anne Hathaway and Zendaya are the latest stars to join the cast:

Tom Holland would very much like Zendaya's addition.
For some reason, I'm hoping Nolan adds Daniel Craig.

It depends on the film/part, but I can see Craig in a Nolan film. That said I’m not sure if Tenet or even something like Inception would entice him.

Not actually a huge Anne Hathaway fan though. I like Zendaya. Really just depends on what they’re doing/what the film’s going to be.

Yeah. I think so too. The only problem with Anne Hathaway for me is, I don't buy her a s sultry character...like her Catwoman role. If someone like Megan Fox was a good actress, that was a role made for her then.

I'm actually surprised that Nolan hasn't used more Bond actors in his movies. Rami Malek is the only truly "big name" Bond actor that Nolan has used. Even that wasn't a big part. Honorable mention to Shane Rimmer. Denis Villeneuve definitely has, and he is a noted Bond fan. Also, Craig is a big science-fiction fan, so I don't think he would turn Nolan down for that reason.

I like Anne Hathaway, but I can understand why others don't. Zendaya, I could go either way. Nolan typically gets good performances out of his casts. I worry if Matt Damon took the part because it has a liberal bent to it. Otherwise, next to Tarantino, I always feel that I want to see a Nolan movie as soon as possible. They're just so unique to me.

Points to Nolan for trying the unexpected. I know Disney Animation wanted to do a version of The Odyssey back in the mid 1990's. It didn't work, so we got The Hunchback of Notre Dame instead. Not that I'm complaining about either.

Yes, unleash the Homer Simpson gags!

So, Homer, what's your opinion of Christopher Nolan's forthcoming epic The Odyssey?

    Can't argue with that!

To be honest, it kinda makes sense that Nolan would do something like that. We obviously don't have much context (an adaptation of The Odyssey can be a modern day one, or it can be a more period accurate one). To be honest I'm not sure it's making me especially enthusiastic, but I'll take it.

I'm not surprised. I think a Greek mythology character like Odysseus, suits Nolan's brooding protagonists. Nolan would definitely Nolanize the popular work and make it his own, like he did with Oppenheimer and it would be the biggest film of the year...yet again. I think what Nolan does so well is, take familiar works, twist it and deliver something unique and surprise us. I can hardly wait!

I would have liked to see Nolan tackle the horror genre, personally. I admire his ambition all the same.

What does race have to do with it?

Well, I guess we don’t know exactly what he’s going to do with it. The only thing I’ve read is it’s an adaptation of the poem with a ‘fantastical twist’. It might not actually be a faithful adaptation set in the time it was written (which I agree, would be a bit odd with this cast and would feel a bit ‘Hollywood-ised’). That said I suspect even Nolan would struggle to get an Odyssey adaptation made starring lesser known Greek actors as opposed to bigger stars.

No one cared in Gladiator and they are historical films.

They did actually, quite a lot.
