Stuart Martin.
Interview
I think it's unlikely he's the hot new favourite but he may be on the list of actors Eon will consider. He is 39 so will be in his 40s by the time Bond 26 gets made so his age may work against him.
It seems as if the "Aaron Taylor-Johnson will be Bond" claim has faded, it's old news, so expect new actors to get the "in serious contention/a source told the Mail" treatment.
Job done.
I’m joking. He actually reminds me a bit of Richard Armitage or Gerard Butler. The article’s clearly nonsense but I can see how his name would come up. Not convinced we’re looking at the next Bond though.
Indeed! The Daily Mail/Sun articles about Stuart Martin are very similar to the Richard Madden articles from a few years ago.
A few days ago the Daily Mail ran a negative item about Aaron Taylor-Johnson's chances of becoming Bond.
You see how the media use the Bond franchise to hype up actors then forget about them. It's kinda cynical. The search for the next Bond is prime click bait. It doesn't matter to the Mail or the Sun or whoever if it's accurate, if they claim an actor is in serious contention/about to be signed, it gets clicks. The Sun ran with Taylor-Johnson to be signed this week (!) despite the fact it was later revealed Eon has not moved forward with Bond 26 and at an alleged impasse with Amazon.
I am surprised the Daily Mail ran a negative article on Johnson so quickly. They didn't wait long! One month into 2025 and Taylor-Johnson is regarded as past it/not suitable. 🤭 From hot favourite to no thanks in less than a year.
Oh yes, he has been mentioned. I find him far too dependent on a beard for a jawline.
It's like they copy/paste the same text and just change the actor's name.
Regarding ATJ, it seems being cast in a Marvel movie has done him more harm than anything else. IF the article is to be trusted at all.
Kraven wasnt the worst movie inspite of what the critics said… i enjoyed it but in watching it clear as day i saw ATJ’s bond in the film and he would very much be like Pierce Brosnan for better or worse which i dont think i would hate but i wont love it either
Don't trust men with beards
I think NTTD already did that. It even did it down to Zimmer's score and the film's dialogue...and it wasn't exactly well received, as the film was trying too hard to be OHMSS.
It's too late for that. It should have been done in the 90s.
Now we have Casino Royale.
Regardless, I don't think the state of the MCU at the moment and Kraven helped ATJ much.
I came across these 4 videos this afternoon, I have no idea of their origins but I was wondering what you guys think? It appears like 2005 screentests/reads for Casino Royale for Henry Cavill, Sam Worthington, Rupert Friend and Antony Starr. It's interesting they're reading from Goldeneye
Henry Cavill
Sam Worthington
Rupert Friend
Antony Starr

I love seeing screentests.
Me too mate, it's interesting to get a peak behind the curtain and it might give us a hint at what they'll do this time round.
It’s interesting seeing these. Worthington seems to be struggling (I remember reading that he couldn’t shake his Aussie accent and basically messed up his audition… yeah, he wasn’t wrong). He has his moments though and there’s some confidence shining through, but it’s the weakest of the lot in my opinion. Cavill’s isn't the most interesting either (a bit flat in places and I think he’s overdoing Bond’s ‘poker face’). I was actually impressed with Friend (a very gentlemanly take on Bond, but maybe not quite right for CR). Starr too (very confident).
And it's just so underwhelming.
Cavill seems a bit flat, Worthington...well, let's just say I'm glad he didn't go any further.
Rupert Friend seems the standout of these. He's far more relaxed and confident in his test. Could've possibly made a good Bond.
Anthony Starr was also an interesting one, though not quite up to it perhaps.
As others have said, I love seeing actors testing for Bond. It's such a rarity to see, and I love seeing them say the iconic 'Bond. James Bond' line. For some it seems natural. For others it seems forced and almost a wink to the camera.
Yeah agreed, makes you realise how Brosnan nailed some of the gags in there which others seemed to miss. I think Cavill was the strongest to be fair, but not up to Brosnan’s standard; but then maybe not fair to compare as PB was on a set and being directed properly.
Of these Antony Starr was the best, I think, from what I could see.
MGW said, "We've tried looking at younger people in the past. But trying to visualize it doesn't work," he said. "Remember, Bond's already a veteran. He's had some experience. He's a person who has been through the wars, so to speak. He's probably been in the SAS or something."
Not to say a younger actor couldn’t work for Bond. But it’d have to be a particular film (not a ‘Bond begins’ type thing but more a creative angle). And of course the right actor.
