Hoult lost Batman to Pattinson, Superman to Corenswet, Rooster to Teller and Jon Snow to Harington… if he loses Bond to someone else he’s gonna quit.

Look if Amazon goes to the straight white man I can see them casting someone like Theo James. I wouldn’t mind even tho he always looks like he just finished shooting a perfume commercial.
Turner would be great but I feel they will go to a better known face. The safe choice is obviously Cavill but I hope for something way less lazy.

Theo is too greek, Bond is an Anglo-Saxon alpha male. It's not complicated, and that's the character, like it or not.

Interesting response from Theo James, I'd be happy if him or Aidan Turner were cast

Well he's Scottish and his mother is French Swiss, so more Celtic than Anglo-Saxon.

It would be interesting to see what DNA tests would reveal about the ethnicity of previous Bonds

While I want the actor to be British, where his ancestors came from is irrelevant

Plus Fleming's Bond wasn't from 100% British blood himself, like a lot of British people, and wasn't English. As you say, it doesn't matter at all. I'm not convinced by Theo but I'd hardly rule him out just because of his lineage.
The vid Jordo posted above is interesting because he's not saying no at all, and neither is he saying he desperately wants it, which is kind of the right way to pitch it if you're in the running and not averse to the idea.

Assuming Amazon now get a move on with the next Bond I wouldn't be adverse to a traditional Bond on a mission movie with Cavil in the role. Is he a great actor? No, but then neither was Moore or Lazenby and I loved them both.

I vote for Cavill to be in the Chippendales movie instead
  • Oliver Richters for henchman . As seen in Indiana Jones and most recently Reacher on Prime. It is almost inevitable surely

That almost sounds like a Bond film in itself!

Henry Cavill was just announced as Longines new ambassador. Looking cool, I'd say. Lots of grey there in his hair. We could do worse, I think.

    Oh, I agree.

Cavill looks good. I don't think Turner has a chance anyway. He is not well known enough and he is not even young. What can he offer to Amazon?

Dude have you checked Cavill's age? Also, Turner has strong ties to Amazon as it stands. Also, Cavill has WAY too much exposure to be an interesting Bond. Turner is known just about right but hasn't starred as Superman, for example. His cards are way more favourable.

I don't think Turner has any cards.

Yes, I think Cavill has a major advantage over the competition in that regard - the narrative. He's been associated with the role for 2 decades already, and him finally getting his shot could be spun as some kind of catharsis, like putting right a wrong. If anyone has that going for them it's Cavill, and it worked well in the past with both Dalton and Brosnan (yes, I know Dalton turned it down, but it still makes for a nice story).

If Amazon / MGM cast Cavill as Bond it will be a strong indictor of how the series will continue under their leadership.

Of course you'd say that. It holds however no value, so it's ok.

@Mendes4Lyfe Cavill is such a dull actor, no range whatsoever, so catharsis or not, it'd be Bond for the clueless masses. Dull, watered down and no edge to it. I'll pass

@Benny Right on the mark, the wrong path to take imo.

Populist. Uninformed, ignorant populist. Which is always in favour of a conservative outcome, yes. Give the people what they want, right? Not what they need. Same old, same old. State of the world, I’d say.

But… if that helps Bond retain some of its heritage and traits, at this shifting point, I would prefer it to absolute decharacterising changes.

People here wanted Martín Campbell last week.

@buddyoldchap for me there are the actors who have the traits to play Bond, but not much going on in a performance sense (like Henry Cavill), and then there's the guys who are great actors and could probably do an interesting portrayal, but lack the level of presence and enigmatic charisma needed for a role like Bond.

AIdan Turner is one of the few who falls sweetly in the middle, where he has both the looks and the charisma that can't be taught, but also enough dimensionality to make the role his own.

Ahah, that will take some herculean effort.
But… can someone post a vid of Moore demonstrating some great acting skill?

PS: love Roger, but had to say it.

If you look at Cavill in TMFU, MI : Fallout and Argyle, he’s essentially playing the same character.
If cast as Bond I don’t think there would be any more depth than we’ve seen before from him.
It would be a safe choice, but I feel the wrong choice.
He’s just not a very good actor.
