It would be nice to get back to calling them Thrillers.

I guess Helen Mirren's recent comments puts paid to her becoming the new M, as some have suggested.

An erotic Bond film ? Oh, I think we've had them, if you need not have explicit disclosure. First of all, for those who favor men, Sean Connery always gave them something to enjoy. And as for lovely ladies - Honey Riger emerging from the sea ! Jinx doing the same years later ! Two ladies wrasslin' in FRWL - and then shacking up with Bond. The Russian Doll in FRWL wearing only a choker ! Even necrophiliacs got a thrill in GF ! Bond gets a multi-attendant bath in YOLT. Bond spending days and nights with a BUNCH of lovely ladies in OHMSS ! Domino wears an underboob swimsuit with fishnet DECADES ahead of the market in TB ! For those of us fond of redheads - Jill St. John in DAF WOO !!! It goes on and on...including, in the non-EON, the incomparable Joanna Pettet in CR '67...oh...my...

If they're after shock value and meme-worthy scenes they probably want Bond to show some bare skin.

I'm pretty sure the "Anya Amasova" industry has already taken action on that matter for some time now, though.

I think the writing is definitely on the wall regarding the next Bond director.

No offense but it really does not look to me like John Williams will score Bond 26

    Haha.

It's gotta be Freddie, who would surely be welcomed with open arms:

Dark Horizons on Cuaron on Bond:
    https://www.darkhorizons.com/cuaron-seems-to-confirm-bond-26-talk/

It seems rather vague to me, but we’re all starved for 007 news.

Yeah, considering it's been YEARS without any news at all.

I rewatched Children of Men for the first time in years last night. Emanuel Lubezki’s cinematography was great, he’d certainly be someone who’d be up there with the best if brought onboard by Cuarón (that’s if Cuarón really is in the frame to direct AND all parties come to an agreement). Some good action set-pieces, too. I’m certainly feeling a bit more optimistic about the next film than I was.

I like Cuaron but sometimes he is more if a spectacle 'effects' director. Hoping a plausible, coherent storyline is prioritised.

Is Cuaron good for movies with light and color ? I note that Children of Men and HPATPOA both are greeeeeyyyyyy....ok, it was suitable for each story, but if he would direct a Bond film, please don't make it greyyyyyy....

Every movie has light and most movies these days have color.

If you are asking if he'll have a saturated color palette, well I suppose that would depend on the tone.

A great director always adapts the look of their film, in tandem with the cinematographer, to whatever tone or mood is needed. I think no matter what we'll get. If he is picked that's what we'll get with Cuaron, or indeed any other deserving director.

We already know the new producers flew to UK to begin work on Bond 26 some time ago, so what are they doing? What steps are next to get pre-production in motion? Surely we are beyond the "we're stilling figuring things out" phase, and some actual decisions are being reached?

I wonder if the new actor actually knows he’s got it yet?

They'll be in early development at the current time. It'll be stuff like story ideas, getting key creatives, planning, finances etc. We may even be a bit off of them actually writing the script currently. When they confirm who's working on this film - directing and writing especially - we'll at some point get that information. From there it'll go into pre-production where the film will be officially greenlit with a release date, and things will really get rolling with casting the next Bond.

But as of now I think it's safe to assume it's early days.

And that's if they're fully on it yet, they have a lot of irons in fires. Or maybe they're always juggling projects, I don't know.

It seems officially the project hasn’t moved into preproduction yet— there is, as far as the industry is concerned (and not from Insneider-types), that no writers have been attached, nor a director.

If this holds (and IMDbpro has B26 as “announcement”, and not even “in development”), then these are very early days indeed.

It's worth saying even development alone can take months - even years in certain circumstances (although I don't think this will be the case!) If we get any concrete news within the next 3-4 months I'd be happy, albeit surprised. This stuff takes time.

I think Amazon are aware of fans' worries and really want to get it right. It's really good of Amazon to know that they've never handled a project like James Bond before. It's not just a character that appeared today. I'm happy that Amazon knows how huge this task is. So taking their time is a clever thing to do.
