For me - again like Brosnan - he's a bit too beautiful for the role, but that's a very weird criticism to have, really. If you look at him and someone said "That's James Bond" most people probably wouldn't doubt it for a second.
Well, It's better than looking like a hobbit.
And he’s not going to get any younger looking.
I think there are certain people who will only be satisfied with the selection of an actor who is “ non-traditional “ , out of left field and maybe even “ quirky “ .
I don't really care what he looks like as long as he's a good-looking fella; I would prefer a slightly more interesting actor in terms of talent to Theo, but he's not terrible so I wouldn't exactly boycott it if he were chosen and there are certainly worse choices.

Job done.
Looks aside…
Outside of “ The Gentlemen “ I can’t say that I’ve seen anything else in which he’s appeared; but based on that lone performance he is more than capable of playing Bond.
Anyway, I just can’t see him turning heads as he walks into a casino in a tux. He’s just a bit… well, ordinary as I said before. Not to say he’s a bad actor (far from it) and he’s a good looking guy. But whenever I see him in those car ads or even in The Gentleman doing vaguely Bondian stuff I get more a sense he’s pretending rather than authentically playing that sort of character. It might be his natural presence as an actor, or it may well be he’s not an overly interesting actor in general (more effective than a stand out). It’s why I said he gives me Clive Owen vibes - even when he was doing a Bond pastiche in Pink Panther 2 something about it didn’t quite feel authentic. I think a Bond actor has to really inhabit the part to the point the character’s witticisms, confidence, swagger, and sex appeal just kinda fit them like a glove. It’s certainly something that Brosnan and Craig did so well.
But I’m happy to be proven wrong if he’s picked. Honestly.
That's pretty much my feeling for every actor suggested if I'm not adamantly against them: I'm happy to be proven wrong.
Oh, I think the best thing is to be proven wrong about any given actor! I’d love to be impressed by a Theo James Bond and be proven completely wrong about my gut instinct.
He needs to go to the gym. It worked for Craig.
There was definitely something about Craig as an actor even before Bond - something quite striking about his looks and screen presence. The gym just refined and prepared him for that side of the role. As it will any actor.
As we were watching “ The Gentlemen “ my girlfriend was quite impressed and absolutely agrees that he could make an excellent Bond .
Women love this guy
A walk down memory lane...
Depends: I don't like when I think an actor will be great in a role and I'm proven wrong.
Good point. I guess the way of putting it is I think it's always good to be proven wrong about my negative instincts towards an actor.
