If Craig had been at the stage Fassbender is now back in 2005 I doubt he's have accepted the role.
It will be interesting to see when we get to see Bond 24 & 23 considering the time it took SF to come to the screen, maybe they've got 24 in some sort of early creative stage already?
:(
Bond 25 - 2016
Bond 26 - 2019 - New Bond actor, age 36 (b,1983). That would be a good age for a new Bond and maybe we'll get 6 films with two year gaps.
That is quite the "naaaaaaaaaaaaaasty" habit he has, isn't it? Now I know for a reasonable surety that somehow, someway, he'll find fault with Craig this fall. Hopefully he'll shock me and prove me wrong, or at least have a better opinion.
Yes, Moore did announce that he was done after 7. He would have been by all accounts happy to be done after 1981. I was OK with him in 1983 because Maud Adams wasn't too young to play next to him as a lead at the age of 38. By 1985, Roberts was half his age at 29 and while I'd be proud to pull that off in real life, in this context he might as well have been offering her some "Dirty Old Man" brand ice cream. For those who think Cubby could do no wrong, consider that he would have given Moore TLD if he had wanted it. Could one see Moore romancing Kara? I shudder at that thought.
Anyway, this is great news. I thought we'd get 4 at least from Craig so 5 is even better, provided of course he can handle the rigors of the role the way he wants to do it and still looks reasonably good.
I suppose his movie career is dead outside Bond after last years flops and Barbara Broccoli can't face making a Bond movie without him, so presuming Skyfall is not a critical failure like QOS Craig will be forced to be Bond for the next ten years.
Also Benny. DanielCraigisnotBond is still going strong and has one of the biggest and oldest Bond forums on the internet!!!!!
12? Where did this come up?
Bond 26 will likely be 2020. I don't know why, but 2019 just doesn't seem.. right. Plus, the every two year thing will mean B28 in 2022, the 60th anniversary ;)
Not sure if badly trolling or srs...
a) He is a serious actor.
b) There has been no mention of 12 films.
c) His career is not dead, not by any stretch of the imagination.
d) Not even going to bother responding to the Barbara Broccoli thing.
e) 2 more Bond films. 4-6 years, I assume. Not 10 years.
f) "DanielCraigisnotBond is still going strong" So people are still bitter about an actor playing a character? It's been like 7 years, move on.
Looking forward to Craig in Skyfall and beyond!
I also hope he does 6 as well. Then, provided they release Bond 26 in 2018, they can get a new Bond for the next decade.
So anyone who does not like Daniel Craig is a troll on this forum???
I know Daniel Craig is regarded by some people and himself as a serious actor and my point is why would a serious actor want to make numerous Bond movies. I can understand him wanting to make one or two - especially as Casino Royale was a challenge with the different approach - but surely a serous actor would move on. He does not because he is not a big star outside of Bond as his selection of flops in 2011 showed and needs Bond because when he leaves Bond he will not have much to do. Of course I want him to have a great career and be successful as it will be nice for him and he will leave the Bond role and there might be a real James Bond movie with a real James Bond in it again.
Only Barbara Broccoli would have been mad enough to cast her close friend Daniel Craig as Bond. No one else wanted him or suggested him for Bond prior to 2005.
I'm exaggerating about Craig making 12 more Bond movies of course; but he is going to make two or three more which means his reign has a long time to go especially if there is a two year break.
Of course DanielCraigisnotBond members are a bit bitter (although it does not consume all their lives) as the Bond series has been ruined by the odd casting Daniel Craig and the strange reboot and many fans are still complaining about his awful portrayal of "Bond". Daniel Craig has made Bond unwatchable for me so I will continue to complain!!
No, not everyone who criticises Daniel Craig is a troll, just wondered if you were or not.
Why would a serious actor have to move on from Bond? Brosnan is a serious actor (some roles aside) and yet he loved playing Bond. Dalton is a serious actor; though he moved on, he moved on because of the legal issues surrounding the series and because - much like your attitudes to Craig - people wanted a 'classic Bond'. See how this goes in circles and is purely subjective and pointless?
Can you see how I would think you were a troll when you say things like 'real James Bond movie with a real James Bond'? I mean, sure, Quantum of Solace was disappointing, but Casino Royale was excellent (though I'm sure you'll disagree) and Craig was top notch in both.
I wasn't aware Barbara Broccoli and Craig were friends pre-Bond?
Ruined by the odd casting? Why, because it's different? All the previous Bonds disagree with you, and I agree with them. Look at Roger Moore's comments from a few weeks ago: "I loved Casino Royale and Daniel Craig. He is a wonderful actor, certainly the best actor to play Bond"
By all means, continue to complain, you're of course entitled to your opinion. But when you say 'many fans are still complaining about his awful portrayal of "Bond"' I hope you realise that the vast majority of film fans, critics, and Bond fans very much disagree with you.
I appreciate CNB people still float around, and it's natural for a certain number to dislike an actor's portayel of Bond (Moore, Lazeny and Dalton have suffered similarly). They are welcome here as well, as long as they stick to the T&Cs. We have our own group of anti-Craig members (one of them is a mod) and we all co-exist happilly ;-)
Calm down, nobody called you a troll.
So, a serious actor should make 1-2 movies and move on? So, Connery, Moore and Brosnan were not "serious" actors? None of those three moved on after 2 films. I won't even dignify your comments about him not being a "real James Bond".
Even if they were friends (which other people have said they weren't) why should that matter? And, as a matter of fact, in 2004 when Wikipedia first had a page on Bond 21, the list of possible future Bonds that they had included Craig, so he was clearly suggested before 2005.
I'm going to assume you're back on that whole "a serious actor would move on" BS and just tell you to read the earlier part of this post.
That's funny, as it seems like irrational hate for Craig consumes your life. You're far more bitter than any Craig-hater I've seen, and I've gone toe-to-toe with DaltonCraig007. Odd casting? What are you talking about? Because he wasn't popular? Clearly you've never heard of Sean Connery, George Lazenby or Timothy Dalton (I think Moore was moore well known, and Brosnan was known for Remington Steele)? None of these three were popular before their casting as Bond.
1) Very one-note actor. Has the same facial expression and mumbly monotone voice in all of his films. Can't do humour.
2) He's too short to be James Bond. Always looks rather small with his little arms.
3) He looks more like Derek Deadman than James Bond.
Who is the anti-Craig mod? Nash/Benny? :-)
And we're the ones who sound like 14 year olds? Yeah, a guy being 5'10 with craggy features and not having dark hair just ruins a movie and an entire series... Don't judge him on his talents or anything, that would be ridiculous!
Annoying, sarcastic 14 year-old style of posting? What? You mean where I take on each of your points individually? Dear God, man, how old are you?
1) He shows a full range of emotion in CR, and in QOS. Did you actually watch his face, or did you simply go to the theater just to say you watched the films? And as far as humor goes, watch his scenes with M in CR, and the scenes with Mathis is QOS. It's subtle humor, not the stupid over obvious jokes of Moore. Craig is very much keeping in line with the Fleming Bond. But, I guess you won't read this post, because it's clearly too long for your attention span.
2) I have no idea how tall Craig is, and, on the screen at least, he looks to be of similar, if not the same, height of the previous Bonds, except for Dalton, who I thought was the tallest.
3) Who the jolly hell is Derek Deadman? According to Wikipedia, he's a British actor who is just a few years younger than Craig. He seems to be in Doctor Who, and I don't much care for Doctor Who, but that's neither here nor there.
You just seem like another Moore Whoore who can't get over the fact that we now have a Bond who doesn't go around making lame jokes. Go back to 1973.
I think the number of Bond fans who like or dislike DC is unquantifiable unless you've conducted a poll of all of them. Not everyone posts on forums and the majority of people left posting on the old traditional Bond forums (and this new message board) tend to be majority Craig fans because the naysayers lost interest long ago for understandable reasons and drifted off. People will go and see a Bond film whoever is in it but I do think they would probably be doing better financially with a more charismatic actor as Bond. If DC's recent string of films away from Bond have taught us anything it's that he's not a leading man and away from the Bond brand doesn't have much in the way of appeal or box-office clout. I don't see how saying that Quantum of Solace wasn't a Bond film (which it wasn't) and that I don't regard Daniel Craig to be James Bond is trolling. That's just my opinion. Regarding Barbara and DC. I remember reading an interview with Daniel Craig in 2005 (or maybe even 2004) where he was asked about the speculation linking him to James Bond and said something along the lines of - Barbara is a friend so I'm in contact and being kept up to date.
Fleming hated Connery's casting at first and Connery is arguably the undisputed best ever to many people. How tall is Bobd supposed to be? 6ft? Connery is 6ft2 oh no travesty!
People can dislike Craig but those that do and are respected are the ones who are able to criticise with a level of sensible and constructive opinions that don't make them cone off as morons.
@Captain Flandry, if you've come here, purely to incite arguing and bickering you're wasting your time. As NicNac said, all Bond fans are welcome here. But we have T&C's that we expect members to abide by.
If people are going to continue to bicker, then further action will be taken.
Craig is a popular and successful actor, regardless of 2011's box office draw. But since your major criticisms of Craig are that you don't think he's tall enough, charming enough, good looking enough; I'm going to ignore your opinions. This thread was supposed to be about Craig's 5 films. So, I won't argue this any more, it's pointless and really not worth the space on the board.
Back on topic, I'm very happy about this decision. Any word on the 8 films, or was that just rumour? Can't remember how many rumours there have been about extensions to his contract, glad we have some definite confirmation.
As if I would ever do that. I'm trying to educate you all. :-)
