In the back of my head I knew that of course, but I haven't seen it around, and you got to admit it looks good :) Something like that would be nice...
When I see a Bond poster I should immediately want to buy it. This is quite frankly bottom of my list of poster priorities.
=D>
The one that was just released and the quad featuring Bond lying down are, IMO, two of the worst posters in franchise history.
I want the real thing to really impress. No doubt coming on Bond Day?
'Casino Royale': http://posterwire.com/wp-content/uploads/casino_royale_007.jpg
What I liked about this Casino Royale poster? Simple, but moreover elegant and classic. The poster itself looks very sophisticated, which we couldn't say of the Die Another Day-posters.
I disliked the portrayal of Bond on this poster. Yes, I know its the movie that started Bond, both as a revived franchise and as a character that turns into a self-assured spy. But I am glad those days, of 'that blunt instrument' are a bit gone now.
'Quantum Of Solace': http://ak.buy.com/PI/0/1000/221261272.jpg
This....this was just wrong. From a blunt instrument to a killer going mental. That was my initial thought of this poster and it had nothing to do with James Bond. Yes, that's how the producers wanted us to see the new Bond more and more: Like a close brother of Jason Bourne.
Also, a complete lack of elegance on this poster. Perhaps the only thing I liked about this one-sheet, was the sandy colour. But apart from that, the poster gave me a depressed feeling, actually not looking forward to see the movie. And I was right after I saw the movie.
'SkyFall': http://www.007.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/09/SKYFALL-UK-POSTER_650.jpg?84cd58
I am honest. I think this is the best poster, excluding teasers, from Craig's Bond films. I don't understand why people are 'angry' about this poster. I adore it, like it a lot. Why?
I finally can see Bond 'undestroyed' and 'mentally healthy' on a Bond poster. He IS finally James Bond. His shiny, darkblue tuxedo looks astonishing on him. There is NO trace of a fight or whatsoever. He is Ian Fleming's James Bond 007 and not a cheap Jason Bourne rip-off. Bourne? Eat your heart out you mental loco gunman.
We also see Bond on the backdrop of Maurice Binder's iconic original gunbarrel design. For me, that is a sign that we will finally see the good old Binder-barrel again. If you ask me, a worthy gesture to the fans and also a nod to 50 years of James Bond.
Some other details: The skyline of London, with off course the waving Union Jack. Can someone remember when we saw the Union Jack on a Bond poster? Well? And I am happy to see Bond carrying his good old Walther PPK, in an elegant, sophisticated way.
Finally, I think for the 50th anniversary, it is a good idea to show only Bond on the poster and no other characters or Bond-girls. It's Bond. Nobody does it better.
I actually did. When strictly not comparing with each other, I think both the Bourne franchise and the Bond franchise are two very fine, iconic film franchises.
Still, I do think the Bond franchise should be the one that is setting trends, not following them. And the latter more or less happened IMO during the last couple of Bond films. QOS was a Bond film, but simply not my style of Bond film.
So a lot comes down to personal taste as well. And having said that, I think with 'SkyFall' James Bond comes back with a bang. Not too much the 'secret agent going rogue' all the time, but the self-assured, sophisticated and well-thought Bond I want to see.
And that's actually the impression I get when watching the new Skyfall UK one-sheet poster. By the way, isn't 'hatred' a bit overreacting?
Glad you liked it. =)
And for a minute my hopes had risen for the official line of posters. Maybe you should apply for the job of poster master ("P"), @marketto007?
BTW, I also made this one.
But we should stick to officially released posters in this thread, to avoid confusion :)
It's kind of sad when a fan can do an awesome job that's waayyy better than the real poster. Great work @marketto007
This is also a nice transition from the teaser. Months ago when it came out, the release of Skyfall felt so far away, and so did Bond on the poster, so far away. Now with that newer poster, Bond is so much closer :D
This was pretty good IMO:
Well except why would you hold a gun like that? If you fire with it held close up to your eye like it is in that poster the recoil will probably break your wrist and the gun will probably smash into your face and break your nose.
Unless he is cleaning it or something but why would you put that in the poster?
