  • The line in the casino about having an extra pair of hands to help getting dressed, and her response "you're telling me", is a pretty strong indication that they did sleep together....

...and that's after you have to purposefully ignore the double-intendre of "old dog, new tricks."

    They slept together.
  • Did the set up for the final battle remind anyone else of Home Alone? =))

absolutely! the film borrowed from mission impossible, bourne identity, dark knight, splinter cell games, erasure, harry potter. there are many more films that i thought of whilst watching it, will have to watch it again.
  • is it me or did bonds abrupt reaction to the word skyfall early on in the film seem at odds with how he was when he got to skyfall late in the film. Also he really did not seem bothered in the slightest that it was being destroyed.

    "Take the bloody shot"

Why not shoot at Patrice after she hit Bond? Clearly the weapon used had more than one bullet in it.

Her shooting Bond compromised her judgement temporarily, giving Patrice long enough to make it, and the train ultimately, into the tunnel.

Does anyone have a picture of Silva's deformed face? The image was stuck in my head last night, lol
I'm happy to say- while I was spoiled about M's death, Silva's deformity as well as Moneypenny were pleasant surprises!

My jaw actually dropped when he took that prosthetic out (no pun intended, lol)

Couple of continuity errors I noticed. Firstly when M and Mallory are in the office and Mallory delivers the line '3 month s ago you lost the disk containing the names of the agents' M has a bag beside her seat. When she storms out she doesn't pick up the bag, yet the bag is no longer next to the chair?

Secondly, when Bond is doing pull ups during his fitness test his legs are tied together with tape, yet when he drops to the ground his legs are separated.

Anyone got any more? This might be worthy if a separate thread if not already set up.

how about dench already having a moneypenny in goldeneye to die another day then now mallory having a new money penny but she would be the original moneypenny.
dont get too caught up in it and just enjoy the film in itself I guess.

    By the way.
Gareth Mallory M is going to rock "dont cock it up"

The M that Judi Dench plays in the three Craig films is a totally different M than the one she plays in the four Brosnan films. In CR she promotes Bond to a Double 0. In GE Bond is already a Double 0 and has worked with a previous M before Judi Dench. Got it?

Reminded me more of On Her Majesty's Secret Service.

It made sense to me. He said he never liked the place. Actually, I think that it always reminded him of the worst day of his life--the day he learned his parents died. The place was just a reminder of what he'd lost.

What game is Bond playing in the casino?

Yeah, I'd like to know that

he was playing a game called sic-bo, it's a pretty popular casino game in China. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sic_bo

I loved skyfall over all the other recent bond movies. I also thought the theme of old school vs new school played out really well. You don't need all the fancy gadgets to get the job done.

  • Hi. I can't recall if the new "Q" from Skyfall had his name revealed at any point––but based on his haircut he's not in any military service. Should we just assume he has nothing to do with the Major Boothroyd we knew?

He even was afraid of flying! He woudn't be a Major nor have any military rank, he might be a Phd.
  • Can anyone remember the dialogue interchange between Bond and Eve at the casino? About the extra hands?

it's something among the lines of

"You look beautiful in that dress"

"you don't look to bad yourself"

"it's amazing what you can do with an extra pair of hands"

    "you're telling me"

This isn't correct, but it's been a week cince I've seen it, so spare me ;)
  • I really don't take that as a cue that they had sex. I thought she was saying he looked good as he was clean shaven, something she helped with.
After all she stopped him from unbuttoning her blouse.

I think it was so heavily ambiguous because Bond and Moneypenny are never meant to have any sexual encounters; they only hint at it. So, I surmise it's supposed to be taken as they helped one another clean up and get dressed, but to many of the viewers' eyes, it was probably seen that they had sex.
  • I don't mind if they did have sex in that scene- sort of adds to their flirtation in the office in upcoming films.

Look at it this way: Moneypenny never shot Bond in the old movies either! :P
  • Again, people denying it also have to purposefully ignore the double-intendre of "old dog, new tricks." That's some pretty strong denial.

I wonder how many of the "Nuh-uh, they didn't have sex" crowd are traditionalists discomfited by the fact that it's Moneypenny, and how many only have a problem because she's not white.

No, I think he's pretty much a techno geek working for the British government. Unless he's Desmond's great-grandson, I don't think we'll be hearing of the Boothroyd name anytime in the future.

    Same with Milesvy.
  • I see Bond's injuries from Patrice's gun when he was shot during the train incident. But Bond was shot by Moneypenny and I didn't see any mention of that injury or scars, etc. Clearly, he was shot because he fell off the train into the water. Where did he get shot and how did he recover?

When Silva opens Bond's shirt, it looks to me that there are two separate gunshot wounds right next to each other.

Hmmm, I don't think it was really clear. It's amazing how he recovered from gunshot wounds after going into the water, somehow getting rescued and being treated on some island.
  • Salt water heals everything :-bd

    ....was it salt water? :-\"

Seriously though, as an agent I'm sure Bond has been taught to take care of injuries like that- and (while I've only seen the movie once so far...) wasn't the PTS and Silva's island an undetermined amount of time apart?

I think it's been a few months. From the time Bond falls in to the water - although he doesn't have much facial hair stubble - M meets with Mallory who tells her that she lost the NATO agent computer drive three months ago.
  • I think it would have been beneficial and more believable if they showed where he got shot and how he recovered. He's somehow rescued underwater (unexplained) and treated for a gunshot wound on some remote island. If the gunshot wound was serious enough, I doubt Bond could treat himself in that state.

He used the flare to find the hole he fell through. It was one of the few scenes that wasn't especially clear.
Sorry, no, not that bit. i mean the begining when he is shot. The opening sequence. It doesnt show how he was saved.???

No plot hole here, a hand clearly comes out and grabs his before the theme song begins. Someone clearly rescued him and nursed him back to health.

Also, Silva had a plan to kill M. Sure he could have planned a home invasion but like others have said, he's a showman and what better way to put on a show than doing it publicly for max attention. It's all about him getting his way.

  • After my first viewing of SF on Thursday here in the States, one of my friends asked the same question about where Bond got shot by Eve. So, when I saw SF again on Friday and Saturday, I made sure to check out what his shoulder looked like.

To me, there seems to be two circular gunshot wounds right next to each other.

@SirHenryLeeChaChing, that's what I thought the giveaway was, but the hand is just of a silhouette that drags him deep down into the water.

Maybe the hand who pulled Bond out of the water is the one that he is sleeping with at the start when he is considered "dead".
  • I loved the title sequence because it looked almost as if Bond was in purgatory! So cool and creepy looking with the tombstones and skulls...

God I want to go out and see it again tonight!!
