Well done. Another huge, massive, glaring plot hole. What on earth were the scriptwriters thinking of???? This is just unbelievable!
The lack of a milkman just ruined the film for me, nothing makes sense anymore =))
Sorry the sarcasm but I couldn't resist.
I know that there are "tons of" positive reviews. I have read a lot of them, and I actually agree with most of them. Yes... there's good acting, yes, there's some clever dialogue in there, yes, it's bold and different, yes it's beautifully shot and so forth.
By reading positive reviews I try to adjust my thinking into believing that I have to like it, since I belong in a tiny minority group.
But maybe I just skipped the ones (from fans or not, I don't care) who explained exactly why the audience need to be educated in the direction of a more contemporary 21st. century Bond by desperately reshuffling the template, rebooting the reboot and ditching elements that defined the brand.
But let's just leave it here. In time I will hopefully learn to appreciate SF more.
The more I think about it, the more I realise the film is just full of massive, glaring plot holes.

Outstanding! I had a friend asking me in the middle of the film who was responsible for it, I think that says a lot.
The palettes are vibrant and reflect not only the location but also the moment in the story and the inner state of the characters.
When an important moment depends upon two men fighting in silhouette and you’re supposed to be rooting for one of them but cannot tell which he is because photographing the shadows in front of the pretty skyscraper is more appealing, you’ve kind of lost the point, I would say.
I prefer a film that has a guilty pleasure trash appeal to it personally. The colours used here would go better with an elegaic Western.
Guys... I was being sarcastic... people kept mentioning all the insignificant little plotholes in the film, I was sick of it! Talk about taking the bait haha
Always happy to find another member who liked the look of Moonraker, which was beautifully shot, and who appreciate the work of Jean Tournier. He really knew how to take full advantage of the locations in which he was shooting, meaning a lot of wide shots with a full panoramic view, something Deakins did to some extent luckily, although I could have wished for more wide shots, fx during the shootout at the Istanbul marketsquare to get a sense of scope.
I thought the opening few shots were wonderful, as was the PTS as a whole, it did look very slick. I actually thought the palette was very similar to QoS, which is no bad thing. There was nothing stand out in the Turkey scenes and somehow in my head I imagined the neon highways to look better than they did on screen. The pursuit of Patrice naturally looks great, if the direction itself was a little wayward.
I genuinely loved the coverage and colours in Macau, I thought they did the best they could with the entrance but once inside I thought the mood they captured was really beautiful. To me it felt quite traditional and harked back to the smoke filled Casino's of days gone by. The scene between Bond and Severine is one of my favourite in the movie, made all the better due to Bond's toast in the direction of her minders. All in all a scene that looks and plays out stunningly. Likewise the approach to Silva's island is a true stand out. Wonderful, simple and vibrant cinematography.
Modern London is a city that is notoriously very hard to capture on film. I think they did a decent job, there's something quite beautiful about a drab, grey London. I walk about it enough to know there isn't really a city like it for the atmosphere it creates in what others might consider sh*t weather. I think they managed to do it justice and found an appropriate tone. The best shot is arguably the shot of Bond on the roof, which will no doubt become increasingly iconic as time goes by.
Scotland - Wonderful wides, if only there were more. My girlfriend, being a Scot thought it looked too stereotypical and was pissed off that it confirmed her argument that Scotland on film is either - Drug taking, art and delinquents or misty barren landscapes. I confirmed that Scotland was just that and there was nothing she could do about it. I like a lot of the shots here but I found a tad cheated when we have the Hankley Common post production shots. There's just something a bit DAD PTS about the grading, which is arguably the best bit of DAD but in SF it's the only scene where the grade looks a little jarring. That said I think the wide of Skyfall with the helicopter approach was great.
My favourite looking scene from the finale is the pursuit across the moors. It's incredibly atmospheric from a visual stand point and I'd say some of the shots are my favourite in the movie. Bond pursuing and taking down Silva's henchman is sh*t hot.
All in all definitely one of the best looking of the series, but not the best. I'm enjoying the Jean Tournier love. Moonraker is a beautifully lensed film and I agree SF would have done well to include a few more epic wide shots. QoS incidentally had a few fantastic wides.
As a final point, one of my girlfriends main points when we left the premiere was that she thought Meheux's cinematography in CR was better. She said she preferred the vibrancy and contrast, referencing the Madagascar chase and testicle thwacking scene as polarising scenes in terms if content and location but both equally beautiful. My two-penneth was to throw in that even the stairwell fight with Obana maintained a level of beauty in a location that to all extents and purposes should never look that great on film.

Oh agreed. Saint Mark probably trawled the internet for bad reviews to fit his worldview of SF. Rather pathetic really. But he does want a time machine back to the Brosnan days.
I could find as many good reviews for the film - probably alot more.
Yes, particularly best picture! But then they placed it as top contender in general.

Time: 22.00 (Movie started around 22.20) in Room 5.

I plan to see the movie on 15 November but i whas litle bit sick, so yesterday be finaly the day to go the movie and offcial we plan to see the movie from 20.45 screening in room 3 but the movie whas sold out. Last 2 tickets go the first 2 people of the 4 in front of us. We think about it and deside to take the one from 22.00. Other 2 cinema's be no
option because other one having the same time and Tusinski pauzed the movie after 2 weeks. Back in 2003 on 9 January the release date of Die Another Day i visit Tusinski first before i go to the City. Skyfall 4th time i saw a Bond movie with my brother and the last time be Die Another Day.
Around 21.30 we are back at the theater and we must a 30-35 minutes to get it in. A lot of people in the wait room having a tickets for Twilight and already be aloud to go, whyle we and a other people must wait and there be not much option's to sit. I faild to see the cinema in bigger room as i hope on, Room 5 there looks almoost simalar
as Tusinski room 5 (CR) and 6 (QOS), but it turn out better then i expected whyle i get the same row as Casino Royale.
Promotion.
There stil can be some inprovement and in specialy now i have seen the movie i think there mabey spoiled to much and in specialy that i wait a litle bit longer i discover more spoilers. Some remours turn out to be true and i think people should be more carefull next time. Already 20 days before i saw it i own the soundtrack and suprise also the single ofAdele, must buy it online. Single of Adele be exlclusieve for that website and i whas lucky to get 10% off. I spotted one copy of the soundtrack in a store and this whas be later removed or sold.
What we have seen before the movie started:
With the comericals there show Sony Mobile Phone comercial with DC and girl in front of tv's, we get 4 trailers from other movies: Django Unchained, Cloud Atlast, The Looper and ... Yes! also The Hobbit. I hoped on that last one. You heard some litle talk when people saw Halle Barry in footage of Cloud Atlast and is realy a movie i whant to see too.
Started with a new style of the MGM logo, one who comes to you before the lion make his fames audio thing. Followd by the Sony Columbia Tristar logo. Before i already heard the Gunbarrel again not be at the start but of course i hope it mabey not be true, again it be at end and i must say on this moment like the gunbarrel from QOS more.

Severine doesn't get killed does she. That was a fun bit with Silva taking shots and Bond also taking part, and the pre credits sequence was indeed fun, but once again, why have the gun barrel at the end, that was damn irritating I can never get used to that. But minor irritations aside, it was once again a very good release
I'll have to see it again. Silva must have actually shot her, and intentionally too ?. I'll get back to this after a second viewing and watch this sequence again
Me too. My best friend is coming home for Christmas, so he, another friend and I may go see it together. Then I'll want to see it again, probably.
