    @Brady No not even Live and Let Die, but I think if you took Eva Green out of Royale, you wouldn't have it in such high regard ?

    I watched a bit of Octopussy recently when there was time, and although always ready for a bit of berating, it's actually a decent watch to be truthful, so worth an inclusion here

    @Youonlylivethrice Richards was the worst thing about TWINE, if they had found a different actress it could of been so much better. The same goes for Chiles in Moonraker and Bianchi in From Russia With Love, and of course - d'Abo in the Living Daylights

    I would still love it, sure. But Eva does factor into why it is my hands down favorite Bond film, though.

    'Casino Royale' is just too good. One of those rare movies I've seen so many times that I get incredibly excited to see over and over again.

  • Yes, Jane Seymour plays a big part in why Live and Let Die is my favorite Bond release, but of course it's not all about any Bond girl on their own, that makes for a great Bond release, there are so many other relevant ingredients that make for a success

    Biggest letdown for me about Royale, was another lacklustre villain in LeChiffre, been so many now in recent years going back to the Brosnan era

    If the main adversary had been anything like Sanchez, or Scaramanaga, or Dr No, it would of been such a great movie and so much better, but the villain that year was lousy. Steven Obanno was the most threatening character that year for me. There is genuine tension when he threatens to take off the arm of LeChiffre's girl with that machete

    @Baltimore_007 I have no problems with Chiles in Moonraker, agree about Richards (she's so embarrassing) and d'Abo but... Daniela Bianchi is a doll. I can't not love her.

    I feel like Denise Richards as a nuclear physicist is a big joke they decided to make and see if anyone would catch on to.

    Quantum of Solace. Agent Fields and the opera scene are enough to nestle it safely in my top 10.

    @0Brady At first I thought you were being sarcastic. ;-) but then I went back and read your review of QoS in this thread. You make some great points! And I think QoS is a great resolution to CR. I am kind of bummed that they left Mr. White still at large though. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for some resolution with White and Quantum in Bond 24

    I absolutely agree! Not only does it provide resolution for Bond and the Vesper subplot, but it also continues to develop Quantum and how they operate as an Organization. I thought that Yusef and his "honeypot" scheme were really cool and brought back an espionage element that had been missing in previous films.

    TMWTGG and Quantum of Solace. I didn't like them too but after another watching, all is forgiven.

    DAF. Sure, the Tracy storyline is unforgivably dropped. But if it is judged on its own merits...it is not without its problems (the campy Blofeld, Jill St. John falling off the rig. the Plenty character), but the first hour is pretty strong, and the score. Seriously, the score.
  • Never really took to the Bianchi character to those that enquired, I didn't find her overly attractive, and in fact rather ordinary above all else, there was little appeal I'm afraid, but she worked for that year, as it's not always about looks with being a capable Bond girl

    Once again, can never love any Bond film, it's just not the appropriate word. I don't love any movie come to think about it. That word should be for relationships and family ties, not watching a favorite film you understand. Same when people say they love a favorite food. Ok, that's their perspective, but never really made much sense sometimes

  • One more thing I love about QoS: Bond and Camille's "relationship". Their will for revenge was an interesting thing to watch and gave us some good moments. He could relate and became kind of protective over her. If he couldn't get what he wanted (stop the organization that took Vesper away from him), he would help her stop the man who destroyed her family. Another side of Bond we've never seen before. His humanization is my favorite thing about the reboot, they are doing it so well.

    And I hope they are creating a good plot envolving Quantum for Bond 24, for Christ's sake.

    It depends how your priorities are sorted out. I wouldn't be the same person without films and music. They helped me and are still helping, just as much or even more than an important person would do.

    I loved the relationship between Bond and Camille in QoS. They're so driven by revenge that there really isn't sexual tension or lust between the two, and the kiss they give one another at the end is an appreciation/thankful/'perhaps we could be lovers in another setting' type of embrace. I love it.

    Recently when I bought the Bond on Bond book in a shop the people at the counter asked me who my favourite Bond was.

    "Timothy Dalton"

    They looked at me like I had two heads. "oh, we were just saying how we didn't like him."

    "Oh, and Daniel Craig," I added quickly.

    "Yes, he's great," they nodded.

    So put me down for LTK and TND which the average punters don't seem to like. And OHMSS. I used to rave to a friend how great it was. She eventually saw it. "I thought it was silly, him up a mountain with the girls."

    I do like Quantum. It's flawed but nowhere near as bad as its made out. =shrugs=

    I do like TWINE. I don't get the hate for it at all.

    I'm never going to like DAD thought.

    Not liking Timothy Dalton. No wonder they are working checkout. Leave the heavy lifting to the people who are able to dress themselves every morning. :))

    The man with the Golden Gun (sorry Kung Fu, Christopher Lee, and Asian setting made the movie interesting)

    Moonraker (I don't understand the hate for that movie)

    The World is not Enough (citing Denise Richard playing as a scientist is not a good reason to hate the film)

    Olga Kurylenko doesn't get enough love for her potrayal of Camille, its a tough role but she pulls it off, She's certainly one of the plus points of QOS and i would love to see Camille back in a Craig Bond film down the line.
  • One of my favourites is the much maligned 'Never Say Never Again'.When I first saw it at the Cinema as a younger man in my twenties I thought it was too eighties, too modern and contemporary (new 'M', new 'Q', New'Moneypenny' and Bond on a computer) Now after so many Bond changes over the years I have grown to love it - I love the music by Legrand too. The film is more restrained than most post sixties Bonds - the only flaw is casting Rowan (over the top alternative comedian) Atkinson as the British Embassy man. Richard Briers would have been much more suitable ( bumbling and inefficient but believable).
  • I would just like to add that I have just noticed the discussion on NSNA and some of the 'Put Downs' - the obsession with Eon productions for a start - who lost all credibility when they signed Roger Moore (aka Podgy Bore) as Bond. ALL Rogers films are SPOOFS and he has said so himself on many occasions - his Bond films are based on the' Carry On' comedy series - he is the Kenneth Williams of Bonds who loves ' messin' about'. His Bond films are as camp and silly as his turn as a Gay man in 'Boat Trip' with Cuba Gooding Jnr.There are only two credible Bond actors and they are Sean Connery and George Lazenby.(both had a natural laid back masculine confidence that eludes all the other miscast wannabees) As for this obsession with 'trained' actors - it is irrelevant. The appearance, personality and demeanor of the Bond actor are what counts. Ninety per cent of Hollywoods Stars of the 1940,s had no formal training before being 'discovered'. The secret was in 'The Look'(a studio phrase of the time). Only the first two actors had ' the look' and none of the others have the NATURAL masculine GRAVITAS to pull it off. They all look awkward ,uncomfortable ,and miscast. As for Daniel Craig, what a fiasco, his Bond films are like nasty, vicious computer games , he looks nothing like James Bond his appearance and character are more suited to a Bond villain - a Russian agent - he strongly resembles the Bomb carrying milkman in The Living Daylights.
