In fairness though they've got DAD pretty well nailed.
How is putting CR first trying to be cool?
I know it's only a bit of fun and just some hack's opinion, but can any sentient being really believe that Octopussy is a better film than Live and Let Die?
Bond is subjective and covers many tastes. Some may think DAD is the best and so be it. Not my cup of tea, but if someone enjoys it then I am not going to stop them. End of the day it is one opinion out of 7 billion on the planet.
But GF was the best bond film at that time. I agree with the rest of your comments though
They said they were focusing on the other 22.
Because they are trying to show they are 'different' by not just predictably putting GF top as 99% of such lists always do.
Nice to see DR. NO and DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER on the top 10.
I don't see it as predictable or clichéd or anything like that. CR is bloody brilliant.
Just finished watching CR, ill second that certainly one of the best bond movies.
Slightly off topic, i don't suppose you know whether the Bond 50 Bluray box set has a commentary or invision commentary on CR? @0BradyM0Bondfanatic7
I couldn't tell you, as I don't have the set. But to have a commentary with Dan, Eva, Martin, Mads, Giancarlo and Caterina all together would be a dream come true.
Would be awesome, read that CR has same menu system as the ultimate edition box set which i am dying to see, hoping there will be more special features. Alas QoS is the same content as original release. Think ill buy Bond 50 at end of week, justify it as a Christmas present. :-)
In one of the strange and rare times I actually agree with the critics, I'm fine because I happen to feel GF is the best Bond film of all, at the least in the strict terms of influence on the entire series that is indisputable. And CR is still #2 with me so this poll is OK too :)
What's your third? I think I may know...
That's fine. But, the film earned critical acclaim during its release, so it's not very surprising to see it make a critic's #1 spot.
But isn't it heresy for these magazine lists to not have a Connery film top? Has SF swung the populist view to thinking Dan is the best Bond?
LTK and I agree that DAF doesn't belong on the top 10 list, yes it's Connery and the movie has a few good points to it but that one is a real head shaker.
Interesting. I'd have thought it was FRWL.
If he/she has a Connery bias then clearly has great taste in Bond movies.
Moved to Bond movies.
You only live twice is 4th...even if it's the Bond movie who aged the worst. TSWLM 5th with one of the lamest villian of the whole franchise...
Not worth your time.
It seems the only films people can agree on are the very top (CR) and the very bottom (DAD).
Close. FRWL #4.
To be fair no list can really get it right because we don't all agree. I wouldn't have CR anywhere near no 1 and I want to type a furious reply to the person a few posts up who had a go at TSWLM (it's a classic ffs! and Stromberg is a great villian), but lots of people would disagree with me.
My major grudge with this is that OP, TWINE and especially TLD were placed too low imo. DAF is much too high.
Is there anyone out there who has it number 1? Or even top 5?
I appreciate what it did for the series and it deserves respect but I watched it recently and found it really quite dull.
