Dan's Bond seems the type to be private in his living outside of missions, so I don't know if he would employ someone like May. But I am all up for shots of his apartment and morning routine.
He went to Canada a few times in the books, so there is good source material to work on.
The line can be thin between the two, but I'd say it is more a reboot than a prequel.
I don't think it's remotely close. CR being a prequel would look stupid inline with the rest of the continuity.
2. Early on in the movie, have Bond report to Universal Exports/MI6 for a tease with Moneypenny and to get his assignment from M.
3. More of the Bond swagger. I always think of Connery in Thunderball when it comes to the swagger I'm attempting to describe!
4. Have SPECTRE do a hostile takeover of Quantum, and allow Blofeld to make his grand return. Having said that, I'd much prefer Blofeld be portrayed the way he was in Terence Young's films. A creepy monotone voice, and you never see his face. The cat is a must!
5. Have a major action piece happen in a the snow, or perhaps underwater. Many have mentioned this, and I agree.
6. Give Daniel a few more jokes to crack. Not quite yucking it up the way Roger Moore did, but at least a few more ha-ha's!
7. Bring back Felix Leiter!
It could be because everyone sees how EON are again incorporating Moneypenny and Q back into the films, so they think Blofeld may be a logical next past character integrated, or someone like him. That's my thoughts on the matter. Many think if they do reintroduce Blofeld it will be as the head of Quantum.
Add in Bond thinking it contributed to the downfall of the British Empire and that would be a nice mention. You could even do it when they first meet next time, "Would you like a cup of tea 007?" and take it from there.
Oh I can see it now. It would make for such a better interaction with Q than the overused ''please try to not to break anything''.
2. A small, barely noticeable except to harcore lunatic fans who'd do something like join a James Bond fan forum, reference to one of the early Connery films, like, say, a brief reference to Crab Key or Strangways or Venice. It would be a great tip of the hat and attempt to reconcile the ever-messy canon, and not beat us over the head like Die Another Day did.
3. A little bit of a Fleming story, like the dinner party from Quantum of Solace (the short story) or the plot of 007 in New York. A little bit, like the reference, would go a long way.
4. Preferably not a Fleming title. They're great, of course, for the most part, but Craig already has two, one of which was Casino Royale itself. There's only small bits of Fleming titles left, so they really should conserve them and give Craig three,
5. In general, a more traditional Bond movie. I loved Casino Royale, liked Skyfall a great deal, and even liked Quantum of Solace, but I think it's time to establish that Bond is here and he kicks ass and takes names and is a spy. It doesn't have to be mediocre, of course, but tradition can be a very good thing sometimes.
6. Maybe not for Bond 24, but I'd like to see Dwayne Johnson (perhaps better known as The Rock) as a supporting character, either a Kerim Bay-style charismatic ally or a henchman, as there hasn't been a real memorable henchman since at least Die Another Day, and possibly even since The Living Daylights.
I think we'd all be mad to have Dwayne Johnson anywhere within a thousand miles of a Bond film.
HOWEVER, I have always been really supportive of strong male allies. I think Mathis was disgracefully cut short, and Raoul/Chang in DAD could have been good characters had it not been a woefully underwhelming story.
It'd be interesting to see Bond and Tanner out of hours talking about a case or something. In the books Tanner is Bond's only real friend in the service!
Just remember there is no I in team but there is me if you look hard enough !
Skyfall proved that the writers can do something interesting with new material. I know I'm bored to seeing Batman and The Joker constantly after each other. Keep it new, keep it fresh.
I am quite happy with Kinnear. He looks like a civil servant, not like an operative, and there should be a certain contrast between him and Bond. In any case, to have Bill Tanner more memorable than he was before the Craig era, I think they should keep Kinnear in the role for now, just like Jeffrey Wright should stay as Felix Leiter.
And there are more movies to come when this can be done without the necessity of a recast. In fact, keeping Kinnear will help establish the character.
