  Sad to hear about Derek, my guess that he would of been around 17/18 when he worked on the James Bond Theme in 62?

  Hooks was a great illustrator. I own some vintage novels that feature his work on the covers.

  RIP Richard Griffiths. He was a familiar face back in my younger days, where I rewatched the early Potters constantly again and again and again. Sad to see yet another piece of my childhood float away.

  This one hurts. Roger Ebert dead at 70. A true legend. I live in Chicago and was always proud that the most famous film critic was from here too. RIP

  I hope their is some kind of movie heaven where Roger is right now, reviewing again with Siskel while Marilyn is on stage signing and dancing while Humphrey Bogart, Katharine Hepburn, Orson Welles, Carey Grant, Gregory Peck, Jimmy Stewart, Hithcock and more are all just shooting the breeze while one of their classic flicks plays on a massive screen.   It's heartbreaking to see the good man pass away so quickly. 70 is undeniably too young. And I'm sure he had so much more to tell us. R.I.P., Mr. Ebert.

  Yes, my opinion on Ebert would change over the years - he was surprisingly inconsistent in his reviews many years ago, for example giving TLD a bad review and LTK a great review for the exact same reasons! However, he was a passionate lover of film and I'm absolutely gobsmacked at his courage in the face of his later health issues. Would that we could all have such dignity and bravery.

  Margaret Thatcher was, in my opinion, a legend of British politics. Like all of us she wan't perfect, and made mistakes, but how my country (UK) needs a leader like Thatcher now. Most of the current lot are pathetic in comparison. She turned my country around, and made people feel proud to be British again. RIP.
