Waiting 9 years for a sequel to chronicles of riddick was a joke, why so dam long? Love these films , i hope vin diesel makes another 2 or 3 . And another thing , why so much hate for the second movie? You haters are the reason it took almost a decade for another riddick film, well done idiots!

Ease down, friend. No need to go ballistic about Riddick here. This is a James Bond forum, remember.

I'm a Riddick fan and if they bring a third film, I'm happy. I like Vin Diesel in the character so I'll be looking forward to him doing more stuff in this universe. But I recognise the cult level of the Riddick films: only a certain group of Sci-Fi/horror fans can appreciate this material. So I'd rather have them squeeze out three decent Riddick films for us, few though we are, than see them sell their souls to the devil and produce film after film of disappointing, over-commercialised, underwhelming travesties. Also, there's enough EU to have fun with.

The trailer looks good...but crash landing on a planet again with big bugs ummm....

The reason we all liked the first film and this is true - slightly NSFW:

What trailer??? I know they have a script but I don't recall it having anything to do with crash landing on a planet with big bugs, like in the first one.

Looks really good! Happy it's has a darker tone, like the first.

It's R rated so they are going the right way...unfortunately they went soft with Taken 2 and last die hard movie.

But he can't be that of a tough guy...he loves the rainbow now.

Me too. Riddick is one of my favorite characters. I was afraid after how poor The Chronicles of Riddick did that they wouldn't make any movies with Riddick. I'm happy that was not the case!
Pitch Black is still the best Riddick movie and I'm not sure if The Chronicles of Riddick or Dark Fury is better. If we count the video game Escape From Butcher Bay (story at least) I would put that in second place.

I always wonder what the sequel would have been like if the second movie did better at the box office , diesel said they planned to release a third movie in 2008 , shame there isn't more of these movies , we could have had 4 or 5 by now. Glad it's R rated aswell , need more violent and swearing like pitch black

Escape From Butcher Bay was a great game...perfect set up for pitch black but the second game assault on dark athena didn't fit in anywhere with the story or maybe i missed something.
  • The full trailer is out now which shows a lot more:

It looks a lot more like Pitch Black than Chronicles!

The Riddick website is also out now too www.riddick-movie.com

That is great news! I loved "Escape From Butcher Bay" and "Assault On Dark Athena", even though Dark Athena's ending was meh.
Still have yet to see "Riddick", which I will see soon, tomorrow perhaps.

I just posted this in another thread but thought it should be here as well...

    Riddick 9/10

Finally got around to seeing this last night. The character of Riddick is iconic to me ever since I saw "Pitch Black". Then the video game "Escape From Butcher Bay" came out and it made me like the character even more. After that "Dark Fury" came out and I'm not one for anime but that was a movie I really enjoyed. Then came "The Chronicles Of Riddick" and while I liked it I was still let down by it. They made Riddick out to an unrealistic action hero who was almost unstoppable; it just didn't feel like the Riddick I knew. After that many said Riddick was done and we would never see him in anything again. I believed it until the video game "Assault On Dark Athena" came out and aside from the abrupt ending it was a really good game. I felt Riddick had a chance at coming back and I was right!

"Riddick" is the movie that Riddick and his fans deserve. It's truly a worthy sequel to "Pitch Black". My only two complaints about it is the pacing seems pretty slow in the middle and the movie ends rather quickly. Other than that it's great! I may even try to see it once more while it's in theaters. I'll be buying it the day it comes out on Blu-ray. Looking forward to the next installment... and please keep it R-rated
    [-O< :D

Anybody else really enjoy this movie?
