'Skyfall' re-ignited me as a fan. What about you?

I don't mean this as a joke. I have been a huge Bond fan ever since my dad brought me to cinema to see 'Licence To Kill'. But for me, 'Skyfall' made me an even more nerdy Bond fan than I already was. Some examples:

--> It's August 2013 now, but I don't get bored of 'Skyfall'. I keep re-watching it at least once a month. Especially since I bought the Daniel Craig Bond-trilogy on BluRay.

--> Ever since 'Skyfall' premiered I just keep posting and posting topics in this forum. I can't recall visiting this forum as much as I did in the past. I'm still 'hooked' to the MI6-forums.
--> I have been buying so many Bond related stuff in the past months, including books like 'James Bond: 50 Years of Movie Posters' (DK Publishing), 'The James Bond 007 Archives' (Taschen Publishing), 'LIFE Magazine: 50 Years Of James Bond' (by all editors of LIFE Magazine) and 'Bond On Bond' (written by Sir Roger Moore).
--> Ooowh, and don't forget....I have bought the DVD's 'Top Gear: 50 Years Of Bond Cars' and 'Everything Or Nothing', the documentary.

One could say, this newly ignited 'fan craziness' is because of the 50th anniversary jubilee. But to be very honest, it always come back to 'Skyfall', my favourite Bond film I have ever seen since I went to the cinema seeing 'Licence To Kill'.

    SF made me wonder about the course taken by EON.

    the James Bond series does have a great amount of movies I really enjoy but with the current course and Mendes on for the next movie I am not so sure I enjoy the pretentiousnes he will undoubtely step up in the next one.

    The author has seemed to have inaugurated a number of new threads recently, but I simply recognized Skyfall as a very good and entertaining James Bond adventure. A marked improvement on what came directly before, although believe Casino Royale was the best of the three most recent releases. I had no more enthusiasm for the release of Skyfall than I did for any of the most recent Bond adventures, in that, was eager to see what could be pieced together and enjoying the final product. Perhaps was more invigorated in 1995 with the upcoming release of Goldeneye, after a six year hiatus and the introduction of a new Bond and changing times

    I think the difference in quality between 'Skyfall' and 'Casino Royale' are really very small. I can't hardly choose between the two. And

    I love the James Bond franchise obviously, especially the Connery thru Dalts eras, but the Craig era does not grab me at all. I relate to St Mark's general sentiments here. I cannot get excited about another Mendes-Craig effort. However if these guys could relax and just put out a good old fashioned, fun exciting Bond movie minus all the character drama and thematic pretensions, then I'm pumped, but that's not going to happen.
    Could be worse though, Haggis and Forster could be tag-teaming again. Yikes. SF was a huge improvement on what came before at least.
    btw,I watched YOLT the other night. Now that is one hell of a Bond movie. =D>
    We always have the classic era to fall back on.

    I never really liked Skyfall. It doesn't have the general Bond feel and if seemed to emphasized too much on character development. I haven't seen the movie more than 3 times since the DVD release, and all the hype by us and the general public is unnecessary. It isn't a great Bond movie, it's a good movie but isn't a BOND movie. Skyfall is one of those movies that makes people say they're Bond fan, just because they like this movie. The Connery and Dalton films makes me a Bond fan, and will always remind me why I'm a fan and always will be a fan

    Casino Royale reignited my love for Bond. Skyfall was good but it didn't make me any more of a fan than I already was, as others have mentioned.

    One thing I, and a majority of others, didn't care for, was the seemingly (at times) indestructibility of Craig's Bond. Such as shot off a moving train or falling a great distance down a waterfall. Roger Moore was the epitome of silly Bond often enough and displayed some quite ridiculous scenarios at times, but nothing on the level of Craig in recent years such as surviving the feats just mentioned. It's all bangs and crashes and superlative stunts and action pieces now some feel, rather than a more sensible approach to what most may remember. It's come to the point (now), where you almost feel Bond is superhuman every now and again (unfortunately)

    @Baltimore_007, while Craig's Bond has had his fair share of moments where he most certainly should've perished, but didn't, hasn't that been a big part of the character for the past 50 years? Getting into situations where you know capture or death is imminent and inevitable, only to devise a wacky way to escape? If anything, I think Craig's Bond is the most vulnerable (in terms of getting hurt and showing pain) out of all of them.

    Not in my life. I´d say all three of Craig´s films are very different but of equal high quality.

    I can agree with this. When I first heard the opening song in the film the reaction in my head was like Bellack's when he opened the arc:

    "IT'S BEAUTIFULLL"

    Luckily it didn't do a DAD and descend into a sight of horrific imagery.

    I wouldn't say it re-ignited me as a Bond fan, infact the two years before the film were only when I started to consider myself a fan. I used to watch the films on ITV4 on Friday nights (sad when the lost the rights). I have always been interested in Bond, but when Casino Royale came out, the first Bond I seen in cinema, I was only 9. So I only have considered myself as a fan for the last 2 years, so Skyfall was the first Bond film I had seen in cinema as a fan so to say.

    Simply put, no re-ignition, just further fuel to an already blazing fire.

    SF confirmed me as a Bond fan but my Bond fandom already reached the sky before it would fall. ;-) Seriously though, I've been a fierce almost ferocious Bond fan since I first saw TB at age 6 or 7 (can't truly remember). I'm an easy lay for all things Bond. SF changed nothing, neither for the best nor for the worst.

    Having been a Bond fan since the age of 6, there was no need for SF to re-ignite my fandom. Plus if you can make it through DAD in one piece and still love Bond afterwards, no film is ever going to turn you away! :-)

    Still a near lifelong, never wavered, Bond fan. Fell in love with the books first then DAF (my first Bond film seen on release in the theatres, give me a break - it dazzled me as an impressionable young 13 year old). Made it through TMWTGG, MR, LTK -yeah, shoot me now, huge LTK fans - or you can try anyway ;) - and DAD. Whew! I have always loved James Bond and eagerly looked forward to the next Bond film.

    But thinking back, to be honest, I was thrilled and doubly excited, you could say reignited (although the fire never died in me: re-stoked may be a better word) my usual high anticipation ratcheted up a good notch by the following films: TSWLM, TLD (there you go, Dalton fans), GE, and CR. I can add Skyfall to that, but it is a different kind of jubilation.

    TSWLM is my favorite Moore film (closely followed by FYEO), it was a wonderful fun action romp that is still one of my favorite Bond films.

    TLD - As soon as I saw Dalton's face, when he turned to the camera while hanging on that cliff in the PTS, I fell in love. The rest of the movie flowed like a song, I liked the chemistry of Bond and Kara, I loved Dalton's portrayal, and I really wanted more of Dalton as Bond by the finish. And TLD has a very romantic and appealing ending, after a great action sequence.

    GE was a dazzling waterfall after the long desert of waiting after LTK - splendid, fun, Brosnan looked wonderful, it introduced Judi's M (brava!), and it was a good story well told - and Bond was BACK! (I thought Brosnan was even better in TND, my favorite Brosnan film.)

    CR was a home run, stunning, left me wanting to give a standing ovation (and I really didn't know Craig before that film), and a new Bond was here, one shown from the beginning of his 00 days, and I couldn't have been more excited or happier with the quality of the film, the acting, and the direction/tone of that film.

    And now Skyfall: It is so beautifully realized and finely acted, I think it will stay in my top 10 always (now in my top 5). I am very excited and satisfied with the way things have developed (new characters, Bond's personal development, etc.), and am really eager to see more from Mendes and Deakins. That has me in a state of high anticipation indeed. Here's to hoping Logan and whoever else contributes to the script do a worthy job. That is, to put it mildly, critical.

    As varied as my opinion of SF was as the days went on and I saw it more and more, I don't think it hurt or boosted my 'fandom' of Bond. I'm already such an intense, passionate Bond fan that it's all just amazing to me.

    Skyfall was really good but even if it had been rubbish it would not have diminished my appreciation or enthusiasm for Bond. I think the end of Skyfall really excited me as it gave us a glimpse of a new era. New M, MP and Q back into the fold and a potential move to a more classic style for the next movie.

    SF didn't ignite me as a Bond fan, the opposite actually. I wasn't enthusiastic about the future of the series before SF, i'm less so afterwards, especially now as the series continues in it's increasingly pretentious direction.

    Also, for what it's worth, I've been a fan since I was 11 (10 to be precise), having watched a VHS copy of YOLT, this was back in 1996.

    So were you more or less enthusiastic during the Brosnan era than you are now?

I was desperate for changes and I am in a far happier place now than I was ten years ago.     People keep using the word pretentious but shouldn't Bond have the best talent available? Shouldn't every film have the best they can afford, for that matter.

    The buzz word for those who don't like where we are at the moment: pretentious! Someone needs to get this in an interview next time and ask the Bond team why they're being so damn pretentious. I want to see the response.
