Craig would have been in the role for 9 years by the time Bond 24 comes out and with Bond 25 following either 2 or 3 years after, he'd be in the role fir either 11 or 12 years respectively. That's quite something for a Bond actor in this day and age.

If anyone's interested, here's the whole Press Conference.

Every year goes by so quickly. It's as if I was typing "It's that time already?" just yesterday, and here I am yet again baffled by how time flies! Today is quite the day for Bond celebration, for not only this franchise changing moment, but for the birthdays of some of its best actors. Cheers to any and all!

Daniel Craig is the best thing to happen to Bond since Connery.

Official he should go now or have another 2 years.. Pierce Brosnan whas anouched in 1994 and his last movie be in 2002, but it take another 2 years til October 2004 before there told us and Pierce Brosnan it be official. So in 2015 it be 10 years for DC and 4 movies too.

But as said i hope DC wil stay for a fift at the moment and let's hope there don't make same mistake as with Brosnan. His fift movie wil be the moost discus movie if not the 4th did it and more then QOS or DAD i think, but not because of him and then he is already 1 movie further then Brosnan.

Looking over those press conference videos it's surprising to think that's the same guy. It's safe to say that DC is definitely more confident in front of those crowds now.

But looking at him then and now:

It's no wonder people took so much against him after that press conference, he really came to embody the Bond character in those few months pre-production on CR. It's a testament to how good an actor he is.

From the moment he was announced I was in his corner and will 8 years later still come out for him with no hesitation, after Skyfall he became equal to Connery for me.

Just started watching OFITN again, getting a chance to savour 3 of Britain's finest talents in some of their most significant roles. Nicky, Geordie & Tosker.

Ah yes I remember it well, the only thing I could think was not that terrible, ugly looking bloke from Tomb Raider, show what I know.

Longest Actor to stay with the Role with so many years in between his Bond movies. We know for sure Craig will be Bond 2 more times but after that? Who Knows. I remember when Craig was annonced I was kinda upset Cuz I really wanted Pierce Brosnan to do 1 more Bond film
  • I was so disappointed by DAD that I didn't pay any attention to the announcement, and for the first time since FYEO, didn't even go to watch CR on the big screen. My wife bought me the DVD a few months later and I was blown by that first vision. I remember sitting in the sofa next to my wife and completely forgetting everything around me for the whole film !

Since then, neither QOS nor SF had the same effect on me.

But I still consider Daniel the best Bond ever.

    I can't wait till october 2015 :-((

    Happy birthday @Dragonpol oregonian_martini.gif

Time does go by fast. I remember it very well, a friend told be about it and showed me a (extremely unflattering) photo of Craig, I was terrified. I'm so happy I was proven wrong.

Well time's fly by when were having a good time, right?

This announcment were just in the time when my Bond-interest started to grow, i had just seen my first Bond-film (TND) but i don't think i payed that much attention to the announcment though. I just thought it was odd with all the criticism because i knew that Moore was partly blonde in his films.
But i was just 9 years old and a huge Brosnan-fanboy then.

One of my co-workers came over to me that day and told me that Craig David was cast as the new James Bond, hehe. I was very happy about that as I knew who he meant.

You should have given him a stern look and sung the line, "I'm walkin' awaaaaay".

Hehe, yes. I guess he just mixed up the names. He was stoned quite often.

When Craig was announced, I needed at most five minutes before I went "yes, I can see it!" Firstly, I had / have faith in Barbara and Michael. Somewhat controversial here, I know, but they had never let me down before. Secondly, I had seen Craig in other things and pulling what I remembered from the darkest corners of my brain, I saw the potential. Thirdly, he was obviously going to be a different Bond and in truth, after TWINE and DAD, I wanted another Bond, another Bond universe in fact, entirely different from where it had landed in '02. The Bond films needed rebirth, not another Botox treatment. Craig felt like a fresh breeze after an insanely hot Summer day. I was confident.

But it wasn't until the first couple of promotional stills and such that I was completely won over. When that iconic trailer was released, I was über-thrilled. I was sucked into this new Bond thing like a planet in a black hole. And I've been a loyal Craig fan ever since.

I can't imagine who can possibly take over when DC hangs up the walther. Will be a job equally as daunting as replacing Connery back in the day!

In a strange quirk of fate I actually think Craig has helped pave the way for his successor to be even more seminal. The movies themselves have pushed the series into a critical realm more akin to the sixties entries. This is something I can see sticking, if of course EON maintain the current trajectory. Couple this with the fact that 'most' of Craig's detractors cite his appearance and physicality as their main bug-bear, you can instantly see how a more Fleming-esque casting next time around could, and I say 'could', represent a situation that minimises the naysayers.

I can't believe it's been a decade. I was in highschool when this was announced and was immediately thrilled beyond words that they weren't continuing in the DAD route. But even I didn't think the Craig Era would reach the heights that it has.

    What a ride it's been.
