    Someone in the know may be able to answer how this has be allowed to happen. It's been over a year now since a film last appeared on ITV.

    I've checked ITV's listings and it is confirmed as @beaugreen007 has posted. There's absolutely no info available as to why this is happening. I've done a google search to find out if Sky have given up the rights and ITV have bought them back but can find nothing.

    It appears the SKY deal expired at the end of September so perhaps ITV have won the rights back.

    Doesn't bother me either way. I was heartily sick of having the same Bond film turn up on an afternoon weekend telly within a week of itself, they flogged it into the ground. The Big Five channels (formerly known as terrestrial) are doing a pitiful job of promoting the poor resources they have; I mean seriously, a late-night double bill of Casino Royale and QoS, esp over the Christmas period, is a no-brainer but have ITV ever done it, nope.

    What these channels need is a sort of curator, and maybe someone who can liaise between them, so the Beeb, ITV, C4 and Five can combine for a Sean Connery or Hitchcock season for a fortnight or so. They still think they're competing with each other, it's almost quaint. Like the Internet, Box sets or Netflix never existed.

    Well found @WillyGalore.

    So it does seem Sky's rights expired in September, after one year and now from November they're back for good on ITV.

    All except Skyfall which Sky have until September next year. So maybe a Christmas showing for that one? We can only hope.

    I'm glad it's back on ITV. I don't watch much T.V, it's purely from the sentimental standpoint. How many people got into Bond after seeing one of his movies on ITV?

    I don't mind much. Both channels have their disadvantages- ITV, the adverts (where you could walk to Christchurch and back waiting for the film to come back on) and for Sky, overkill. But at the same time I hope ITV don't underuse them. I would love BBC 1 to get the rights though.

    There's something very comforting about having Bond films back on ITV, despite the ad breaks and the editing of swear words and violence.

    Yes, that is the main downside, although I much prefer watching them on DVD when I want.

    Despite the adverts and the break for the news, i'm still happy to see the Bond film's return to ITV. Even though i prefer to watch them on DVD, i'll be glad to see them back on ITV if only as part of the tradition of showing them on Boxing Day or bank holiday's.

    Yeah I'm quite pleased with this. Doesn't make a difference to me because I have the DVDs but now it means that Bond is available for everyone again, which is nice. It just feels right having them on ITV, like it's where the films belong.

    Will miss the 007 channel though. When they were running that, it meant that if I was channel surfing and there was nothing on I could just flick on a Bond film for a bit (although if I wanted to watch a specific film all the way through I'd put the DVD on).

    Sometimes I preferred the films with ad breaks, FRWL for instance. It's a great movie of course, but I've always found that watched non-stop in one go it doesn't quite get going for me, it doesn't pick up the pace. Ads lighten it up a bit. And sometimes the cuts help a movie, TB or NSNA for instance, where the editing fell short first time round.

    Oh no! I thought Sky did a good job with the Bond films and I'd often watch the films if I caught them on one of the movie channels or better yet the Sky Movies 007 channel when it appeared.

    I flat out refuse to watch a film if it is interrupted by adverts or worse, the news. It may be nostalgic to look back on times gone-by watching Bond on ITV but they do a horrendously disrespectful job of broadcasting them. Thank god for Blu Rays/DVDs.

    Since this is how I was introduced to Bond (ITV showings every Saturday or Sunday, or sometimes even after school on a Friday), this is great news. Disrespectful ad breaks, letterboxing, censoring, PAL compression or not, it's a way in for younger generations.

    ITV and MGM have now issued a press release confirming that Bond movies will be back on ITV for UK television broadcasts:

    Growing up I could always look forward to seeing a Bond film on a Bank Holiday. Hopefully that tradition could continue.

    Thanks for sharing this. Though I dislike ITV and its many wretched, dystopian programmes it calls entertainment, I can't help but think that this is where TV Bond lies. This will be a blow for Sky, with it losing many other contracts this month as well, such as Championship football. All this might force them to lower their prices, so hell. I really hope ITV will show OHMSS more often, but something tells me that this film won't be "popular" enough for ITV's air time.

    With soon to be 23 films, one a week would fill almost half a year on the schedule. Why can't they do this every once in a while?
