You're a piece of work, man. You'll jump on anyone who doesn't hold the same opinion you do, won't you? Talk about astounding.......you astound me on a daily basis with your constant hostility towards way too many members on here.
Don't let it bother you: I've played countless hours of GE64, but see, because I accidentally misspoke and didn't say that "I haven't played it in years," and instead said "I haven't played it" accidentally, I get trashed. But, I corrected myself and everyone who was quick to pounce on me had no more words about it. Sure is something.
I just point out lunacy where I see it and I simply couldn't understand how someone could be a Bond fan, own an N64 and never have played GE64.
Turns out it was a typo but forgive me for not being able to mind read Creasy's mistakes. In actuality I should have realised it was a mistake as someone with an N64 to never have played GE is surely impossible.
At least Creasy had a legitimate excuse - you are fortunate that your own particular brand of lunacy is so heavily protected I am not allowed to criticise it.
Shouldn't this comment be removed? Yeah, I think so. That was quite a petty cheap shot on your part. You know what this topic is for, so don't twist another discussion.
You're the one who started attacking me above so don't start playing the victim. I never criticised Creasy particularly - just said I found it astounding that someone with an N64 had never played GE64.
But delete my post, flag me, ban me - whatever. I'm pretty tired of talking to you today and as I don't have the benefit of living for eternity I have no desire to waste any more of my precious time on earth continually going round in ever more pointless circles with you.
Back on topic. GE64 will always be the best Bond game, and then for its' cinematic merits I say EON comes second.
I love that game so much, especially for its level design. The Siena shootout was probably my favorite part, but I love it all equally.
GEWii/Reloaded was a better made game. They put time into GEWii and then with Reloaded took it a step further with better graphics. 007 Legends you could tell it was rushed and they didnt put much effort into it at all. The mechanics of Legends compared to Reloaded are highly noticable and was the main reason I couldnt stand to play Legends for more than a month. With Reloaded I felt in control of my gun and it was pretty smooth handling. On Legends its very jerky and twitchy and feels like half your kills are based on luck of how your gun happens to jerk. Both of them however suffered from extreme lag for online MP but at least GER had some good maps. 007 Legends maps are complete crap and theres only like 8 of them with 2 being almost the same. The story line was much better for GER than Legends as well.
Umm.. Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time and Majora's Mask? Starfox 64? Doom 64?
Oh, for...it was a mistake, I really didn't mean to say it. GE64 was one of the first games I got on the N64 and I put in hundreds of countless hours into it. We needn't continue to bring it up.
I felt more like Bond in the castle level than in all the Activision Bond games combined. You have so much freedom, there are so many different ways to complete the level, and so many little touches that really make you feel like Bond.
I actually quite like the story too. The villains plan is quite clever, it's a space based Bond story done right (up until the final level where you're actually in space, I wouldn't have minded if it was just disarming the rockets but really, laser guns?).
If Pierce Brosnan had given his voice then it would've been a perfect game. If you play video games and own a ps2/gamecube/xbox, but haven't played Nightfire, then go and buy it right now (it's probably on ebay or amazon for next to nothing). I promise you won't regret it.
If owning an N64, being a Bond fan and not playing Goldeneye is mental, then owning a ps2 (or xbox, or gamecube), being a Bond fan and not playing Nightfire (or Everything or Nothing while I'm at it), is just as insane.
I will say this EA's Casino Royale would of either been the best bond game brutal and gadget free or it would of been like From Russia With Love with way too many gadgets.
The only thing I truely liked about Nightfire was the Multiplayer because of the wide range of gametypes and weapons, but even then there wasn't many maps available.
About the new Bond games yes they were simplified, the lack of gadgets and 007 bonus moves disappointed me greatly.
The four latest Bond games were more CoD-like, also in Bloodstone they simplified further in the movement department, you couldn't crouch while walking like in EoN.
And Bloodstone was the only good Activision Bond Game.
Craig Bond doesn't crouch while walking. He's too macho for that. Ok, he crouches in the fps games. But you don't actually see him crouching. He's too cool to let you catch him doing that in third person perspective :p
And my controversial opinion : Goldeneye 64 is (maybe)the most overrated game on any platform. Yes, I've played it, and I still don't what all the fuss was about. Okay, first fps Bond game. But that's it. It also took many liberties with the source material.
That's, of course, my humble opinion.
It's a video game, it's allowed to take liberties in exchange for entertainment.
That's a fair point which I'll agree with you on. He does sound like he's going through the motions. At least Dench, Cleese and Dafoe give it some welly.
There's a little extra thing you can watch through the games menu and they do a few interviews and Cleese says something like "it's ok not to have a movie this year, because the game is there". That sums up what I think the games were and what they should be. Not shitty tie ins, playable Bond films to bridge the gap between the movies.
Every single Bond game is OTT.
I don't think Bond has ever really been played well in a game. Brosnan and Craig weren't as good as they were in the films, Connery was too old for it (and sounded like he didn't care) and none of the voice doubles have been good.
I think for the next Bond game they should make their own Bond. Find a voice actor who's actually enthusiastic about it, that takes it seriously.
Bring this Bond Back! :D
